My previous laptop was an ASUS ROG which has lasted me nearly a decade. Based on the specs and claims from ASUS, this laptop should be more than capable of running adobe photoshop, but it gets overwhelmed. I can have only photoshop open (without chrome, spotify, or anything running in the background) and it still chokes up and lags at points. The ports and SD card reader are great, and I deeply appreciate them and the number pad, which is why I bought this laptop but the performance is subpar. This is being marketed as a laptop for creators, but it struggles with basic creator programs out of the box. I’m also very disappointed that there is 8gb of ram soldered into the slot, capping RAM upgrade potential at 24GB. I regularly run disk cleanup and still max out at 16gb, so I have grim hopes for Pro Tools. Asus could have allotted for a 32GB cap for customers and this would be perfect, but I guess they wanted to foster resentment in the same way that apple does. The portability of this laptop is great, and part of me will be sad to replace it when I need to do more serious work.

Overheated out of the box

Ran the graphics settings into the ground and still couldn’t reach 60 FPS. I may have been using the laptop graphics card rather than NVIDIA which caused the overheating but the quality was AMAZING before it crashed. Still not sure what happened. A conundrum to be sure

The screen is brighter also and the color is terrific! The employees at Best Buy was very helpful in helping me with my new purchase. I couldn’t decide at first and they were very helpful in explaining what each laptop would do so liked getting all the information on each laptop.
