Really great laptop

This has lasted me three years and is still almost as good as new, other than the paint wearing off the spacebar key where I touch it often and a scratch on the pretty white front. I use it for my small business and it still has a ton of space left. There are a few design flaws that keep me from giving it 5 stars. One is that the power button is where I am use to delete being so I often turn it off. The other thing that annoys me is the lights for the keys when it is dark are pretty bad so it can be very hard to see which key is which.

I do lots of research prior to making a purchase and this Asus VivoBook S14 is a 14 inch ultrabook came recommended from Consumer Reports, other Best Buy customers, and other sources. A similar computer unit (which I believe is the previous generation of this device) was also rated well on Amazon. I appreciated what appeared to be eco-friendly packaging. I am not an unboxing afficionado, but unboxing this was kind of fun. This laptop comes packed with 8 gb of RAM which should be more than enough for most users. It also features a 512GB SSD. This represents quite the largesse of space at this price point. The laptop is thin and lightweight at only about 3.2 lbs. It's very portable and the build quality is impeccable, including an all aluminum body. The lid of the device is available in multiple colors in theory, but Dreamy White was the only option available at the time I purchased my unit. The white coloring has a neat reflectivity that gives off vague hues of color in the light. I have heard some express concerns about the light-colored keyboard because it can be hard to read the lettering. I have noticed this to be an issue at times, but seldom is it anything more than a slight bother. Once your fingers are in the optimal typing position, it is a non-factor, especially when the backlighting comes through. The screen features a so-called nano-edge bezel which is supposed to provide for a greater screen-to-body ratio. I'm not quite buying into the whole nano thing, but the edges are slim, except for the bottom edge. That said, I have no complaints about the screen real estate. It's perfectly sizable for my needs. It gets bright enough, though it's not a world beater and probably won't pop too much in bright sunlight. I like the matte finish. The 1080p display is crisp and though it does not offer the greatest of viewing angles, it makes up for it with almost no glare. The limited viewing angles may make watching movies with your significant other a bit tricky, but I don't necessarily watch movies on my laptop and it's not a bad trade-off if it means cutting down on wandering eyes at your local Starbucks - whenever we are able to work on our laptops in coffee shops again. Asus have made an interesting design choice by highlighting the enter key in yellow. I don't quite get why, but it also does not offend. The track pad is very responsive, though a bit click-ier than I may prefer. The keyboard is also a pleasure to type on, but then again any keyboard is an upgrade when compared to the utterly dysfunctional Macbook Pro keyboard this unit replaced. The i5 processor is plenty fast enough for most tasks, though I am not a huge gamer or film editor, so this may not be the computer for you if you need that kind of power. Gamers would also want a dedicated graphics card anyway, which this (at least the base model) doesn't have. My only real gripe is the battery life. It provides about 5 plus hours of battery life on a charge. Not atrocious, but not great. I do like the included power cord because it is pretty small and as easy to carry around as the laptop itself, unlike the behemoth that is the Apple charging brick. I suppose the other question is the price. At $699 I feel this might be a tad more expensive than it should be for a mid-range laptop. I feel a $600 price tag might offer better value. Overall, the Taiwanese manufacturer has turned out another solid product to suit the needs of most people.

Just got this device today and first thing i noticed is that mouse pad is extremely sensitive!!! you have to literally touch it as light as passible or if you press down too hard mouse will trigger other tabs your not even trying to open....also very disappointing that volume is low... my iphone is louder then the actual laptop and that hurt me so bad since i always like to listen to my music. Also when purchase you get some kind of security software but for free but it is NOT even compatible with device smh. Just want to give an honest review hope this helps someone save on their coins

I wanted a nice fast but small laptop for internet and really simple games and this one is perfect. It is so much lighter and smaller than my previous so I can really take it anywhere without hurting my back, but at the same time the screen is really clear and easy to read with great colors. I was able to download my very few games easily and it handles them well (not a serious gamer - just simple things like Lego and Stardew). Videos on streaming sites have also played very well with great sound and graphics.

Very impressed by the build quality! All metal, yet very slim, and a light 3lbs. Super fast and ultra quiet! I've only had the fan kick on once since I got it, because I was using a very intensive program and the fan was whisper quiet. Under normal use, (web search, youtube, etc) the fan never comes on. Sound is decent, but I will mostly be using headphones. HD screen is good, gets bright enough, and I have no problem with glare. The only concern I had before buying was that the RAM wasn't upgradeable, but after using this computer for awhile and seeing just how lightning fast it is with everything I've thrown at it, I now have zero concerns that I'll be futureproof for at least 3 years. It is Wifi-6 compatible. It features quick charge and I can get a full battery in an hour. Keyboard is excellent! You can't beat this computer for the price! I'm happy with this purchase!

Excellent build quality. Lightweight and easy to carry around in a shoulder bag or backpack. OS and processor make browsing, work processing and other work and home functions fast and stable. Keyboard and mousepad are responsive and accurate. Fast, quiet hard drive. An excellent purchase, highly recommend!

Love this little laptop, and hope it lasts for a very very long time. Works like a charm. Slightly heavy for its size because of the metal construction but overall awesome. Haven't turned on the fingerprint scanner though.

I love this computer. It's the best one i have owned yet. Runs smoothly. Only thing it does is the battery does get hot if you don't have a laptop stand or cooling fans. Otherwise runs great. One thing that could be added would be a CD ROM and touch screen.

The computer has enough features to be sufficient for everyday use. I use it for word processing, play some simple games, internet, etc. One major problem I have with the computer is the poor battery performance. Even with light usage the battery barely lasts 4 hours.

I wanted a laptop primarily for my sales (I resell on Poshmark, Mercari etc) and for my Ancestry Research I was doing. I also wanted something that could store good photos. This does both! I also go to school online and wanted something light that I could transport back and forth. This was the perfect choice. I love this laptop so much and I am so happy with my decision to get it - I haven't had any problems with it whatsoever, and would recommend it to anyone!

I love this laptop, and it was the right purchase. It's the lightest weight I've ever had, fast, and has a ton of storage space. It runs Windows like any other computer, so once you have windows, you have windows. Makes no real difference what laptop you're using. The hardware specs are more of its standout feature, and it excels big time there.
Cons:
- the battery dies too quickly. This is really a shame. A one hour Zoom convo and you're already below 50%
- the Webcam isn't great. I look pixely
Bonus points: comes with these really cool and hip graffiti stickers that you can put on the back of your laptop

This is an extremely lightweight machine. I'm sure like many others, I use this for word processing, web browsing, and other lightweight tasks and the machine works perfectly for me. The SSD makes this a quick starter and the battery seems to hold its charge for a long time between uses. It does not have an SD card slot just the micro SD.

I purchased this laptop because it's smalle, and I need a better camera for recording. Overall, I like it so far, as other consumers stated, the keys sometimes are hard to see due to color. Other than that, it's working for me,

So far I've been loving this laptop. I use it for work (audio editing software) and playing the sims. Works beautifully, no lagging, starts up super quickly and the keys on the keyboard are both big and light up so I can see them well. Only thing I can currently complain about is that there is no num pad. I'd prefer one but I'm slowly adjusting to not having it.

This is my second ASUS laptop. I still use the first one I bought 4 years ago and love it! The second one I bought for one of my employees to use at work. She loves hers as well. There have been no issues with my first ASUS laptop and I don't anticipate any with the second one either.

Got this book for our mission president, who is also a triathlete. He likes laptops light and convenient for when he bikes to work.
This laptop had everything he needed -- large SS drive, compact features, portable, dependable.

The laptop is great and I'm pretty satisfied with it. The battery last a long time. The only issue that I have is the key tabs printed in white. Sometimes, depends on the lighting, if i'm in my bedroom, I hardly see the letters. The good thing is it have a keyboard light that really helps if I use it at night. Other than that, everything works fine to me. Thank you!

Very satisfied with my ASUS Vivobook. Dependable and well made. Only use a computer socially so it suits my needs quite well.
