Great laptop for home and office use

I was presently surprised when I got the box of the Zenbook, as it was smaller than I expected for a 14.5-inch screen. Opening the box and then taking the laptop out I also found it to be smaller than I thought, but then opening the laptop and turning it on the screen takes up most of the top so it is much larger than you think looking at the closed laptop. The first thing you notice when you turn on the laptop and get windows to boot up is the stunning screen. The colors are nice on the OLED and the 2.8k resolution makes images sharper than you get on a standard 1080p laptop. The built in speakers also sound very good for a laptop, so watching movies or TV on the laptop works amazingly. The computer comes with windows 11 home, which I use and won’t go into, but considering this is supposed to be for office use it’s a little disappointing they didn’t include windows 11 pro. On the software side you get the ASUS apps pre-installed but not a lot of bloatware that you must uninstall, which is nice. There are a couple apps I deleted but they are all windows store apps so its simple and the ASUS app has offers in it and does updates, but you don’t have for example a random antivirus installed that wants you to buy it when you turn on the computer. You also get a decent web cam that comes with Windows Hello facial recognition. Typing in your password when you need to login is OK, but using facial recognition makes the whole process so much faster. The other part that I really enjoy is the touchpad that turns into a number pad. I like using a number pad when typing numbers, and since most laptops have a full keyboard with a number pad its usually something I miss. But ASUS has a button on the touch pad that turns it into a number pad which I have used more than I thought I would and really like this feature. While the screen looks beautiful the touch screen seems unnecessary to me. The laptop doesn’t fold around into a tablet, so I don’t really see a need to touch the screen. It also didn’t come with a pen, so at least for myself I found no use for the touchscreen. The other downside for the future is there isn’t any quick way to get to the ram or SSD, and with this small form factor even if you unscrew the bottom, I’m not sure how easy it would be to do an upgrade. I also tested how well this works for gaming. You’re not going to be playing new graphically intense AAA games on this laptop, but it performed surprisingly well for some of the older and less graphically demanding games. If you plan to use this as your own gaming computer you might want to look for something else, but if you want to use this as a secondary computer to game on the go it will play some lighter games. I tried The Sims and Minecraft, both of which ran really well so some causal games are playable. If you need a laptop for browsing the web, doing emails, and using office then this laptop will handle it no problem, in a small form factor with a great screen for when you want to watch movies or TV. The battery also lasts doing this (I used it a full day without charging). For gaming this works for some light games, but I won’t be using this as my primary device for gaming. Overall, I do recommend it for a small laptop for work and school.

    Great alternative to MacBook Air

Bought this for my first year college student. Was originally going to get a MacBook Air, but with the 16gb of Ram and 512 Gb storage, the MacBook Air was literally DOUBLE the price of this (on sale). Setting this laptop up was easy. I haven’t used Windows in a bit, and was happy to see a lot of bloatware is no longer inlcluded. Windows 11 seems good. Screen was very nice and everything seemed snappy. I’m taking off 1 star because it does get very warm EASILY. Like I’m used to Intel laptops getting warm, but that’s usually in high load usage. This computer got very warm simply with Chrome browsers open. I tried Edge and it was no better. So while this computer is pretty powerful for the money, just know that the cooling isn’t the greatest. The fan was on and working and it’s not loud at all, but the computer still ram warm. I used it for about a week setting it up for my daughter, and it consistently did this with minimal Apps open. That said, most Windows (Intel) users are pretty used to warm laptops, so it shouldn’t be a big deal. Especially at the price point of $699.

My MacBook pro display died on me during my last semester of college. I was looking for something in a pinch before my midterms and this was a steal at 699.99 last week. The new i7 chip and 16g of ram is lighting fast for everything I need for school. Can run multiple excel tabs, chrome tabs, spotify, and zoom all simultaneously and lightning fast. Build quality is amazing and the design is sleek and thin for carrying around campus (good size for school). Battery life is okay but keep my charger on me for full day use. The OLED display is really nice and speakers are decent. Got curious and it ran minecraft well over 100fps which was a nice surprise. I’m not sure how more graphically intensive games would run since the graphics card isn’t exactly what you look for in that regard. (wouldn’t have time for gaming anyway lol) Overall very happy with the purchase and am thoroughly impressed. If you see this on sale again it should be a no brainer. No other product could compete at $700.

I own this laptop for more than a month now. Excellent battery life, latest configuration (14.5" screen, 16 GB RAM, 512 SSD, Intel i7-13700H - 2.40 GHz processor), and good screen (OLED) quality. It is lightweight, has big touchpad (like MacBook), and good keyboard. Build quality (Aluminum chassis) is good. Overall excellent product.

This Zenbook is a productivity beast wrapped in a sleek package. The 2.8K OLED display is pure eye candy—colors pop, blacks are deep, and it’s perfect for both binge-watching and editing photos. The Intel i7 keeps things snappy, even with 20 tabs and a few heavy apps open. Battery life is solid, the keyboard feels great, and it’s light enough to carry all day. Bonus: it charges super fast, so I’m never tethered for long. Easily one of the best laptops I’ve owned.

THE BREAKDOWN: This AUS Zenbook 14.5” 2.8K OLED laptop with 13th Gen Core i7 Processor, 16GB memory and 512GB SSD is built like a tank and great at multitasking. Let’s start by mentioning my favorite feature and that is the case material, I love the aluminum casing and the protection it brings to the table not to mention giving that premium feel. This laptop is only 0.66” slim and 3.48lbs. This will make the perfect college computer for your children. This laptop comes with Windows 11, Intel 13th Generation Core i7 (13700H), 16GB of RAM, lower end Intel Iris Xe Graphics, 2880 X 1800 screen resolution, 512GB PCI-e SSD, and 14.5” screen. It does have 2 thunderbolt 4 ports, 1 HDMI port and 1 USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port. I do with that laptop companies would start putting charging ports on both sides of the laptop. This laptop also has a backlit keyboard and NumberPad 2.0 which is pretty cool. I always find amazing. It also has a camera with microphone which allows for facial recognition. Would also be nice if this laptop came with the ASUS pen to take full advantage to the touch screen and OLED screen. I did not test this on gaming as it was not built for it, but I did test it out surfing multiple pages and using several applications at once. This laptop not only looks amazing on the outside but delivers on the inside, from the vibrant colors the OLED screen provides to the processing power switching between applications. PRO’s: - Easy to get up and running - Aluminum casing - 16GB memory - OLED screen CON’s: - No charging ports on both sides - Would be nice to have a soft case and ASUS pen SUMMARY: Overall, this product worked as intended, and I would recommend this to a friend if they were in the market for a product like this.

My experience with laptops is that when they're portable the screens are too small, and when the screens are big enough, they're too heavy to want to carry around. That said I was traveling to Asia so I needed one for schoolwork. I prefer a windows laptop and was looking at gaming laptops and XPS's. I realized that to game I was going to have the above problem of screen size vs weight vs portability. XPS's too many QC issues and too much $$$. Went to my local BB to test a few out, when across the room (literally) I saw this magnificent screen. It was a different model of the Zenbook but the screen just jumped out at me. I tend to have issues with keyboards, as I am not a good typer at all, so small keyboards = more mistakes. The keyboard on the Zenbook however felt great. Not squishy at all, and just large enough with room between keys to work well for me. In doing some research I saw that this model was to be released soon with the 14.5 inch screen. I had to wait a few months, but it was well worth it. Pros: ~The 14.5 inch screen. It's the perfect size. It allows me to have two windows open in usable fashion. Meaning I can see the content clearly on one side while writing in a word document or OneNote on the other side. ~ 2.8K OLED Screen. It's stunning. Crystal clear for work, and beautiful for streaming. Even with brightness turned way down (to conserve battery) the screen looks great ~ Keyboard. This is subjective of course so try it for yourself, but as I mentioned it is firm enough and the keys are well spaced. Also option to have them backlit or not which helps with battery life. ~ Not sure what network interface card this uses, but the wifi works well. Using an iPad side by side. iPad had connection problems while this laptop did not. ~ Lightweight. Less than 4lbs. Easy to carry in backpack during 30 hour multi flight commute. ~ Web-Cam. 1080p. Clear image and no issue with the audio. ~ Sturdy and solid feel. Can open with one hand. Feels premium, not cheap. Cons: ~ Battery life. Not bad, but also not particularly good. Straight productivity (i.e. Word, Excel) plus browser with multiple web pages open with brightness at 30%. Maybe 5-6 hours. That was fine for me but not impressive either. ~ Screen is glossy. I used it indoors, so I was able to control light reflection. Could be an issue for outside use. Not Pro or Con, but notable: ~ Mouse pad. In fairness I have not met one that I like, so not like this was worse than any others. Easy fix was a wireless mouse. ~ Ports. Two Thunderbolt 4, but both on the same side next to each other. Annoying. ~ Speakers. Not bad, not great. Fine for me tbh, but if audio is important take it for a test drive before buying. ~ Cooling. I only had the fans kick on once and it was because I had the laptop on a small ironing board to raise it up slightly. For some reason the cover on the board did not allow it to get proper cooling, even though the side vents were not blocked. Not LOUD but noticeable. ~ No fingerprint issues, although I do not use touch screen. Five months in with daily driver use for a full month and I am very happy with this purchase. No regrets at all. I would but it again in a heartbeat. FYI - I paid $699 on sale at Best Buy, a price they seem to frequently offer.

I have a gaming laptop that has an AMD Ryzen 9 and AMD 6800S GPU inside and a gaming desktop as well with a Nividia 3070 inside. I didn't need power but a good laptop with long battery life and that can run for 3-5 years for online schooling. This fits the bill and was on sale for $799 which is a steal at this price. I actually bought the Zenbook 14 with the 12th gen i5 and only 8GB of RAM first but returned it for this once I saw the price of this because of the touch screen and 16GB of RAM. I believe 16GB of RAM is the bare minimum these days to be honest. Inside the Box: The laptop Warranty booklets and etc 90 watt USB charger Specs: 2.8k OLED 120hz display 16GB LPDDR5 RAM 4800mhz 512GB PCIEG4 SSD Intel i7-13700H integrated intel XE graphics 1080P Webcam with IR for Windows Hello unlock When I first opened the box and saw this laptop it was a beauty not a normal black slab but with a design that makes it stand out. When I first saw the screen and the OLED panel at 120hz I was amazed it is one of the best screens I have seen on a Windows laptop. I do keep it on 60hz for better battery life but nice to have 120hz if I need it. I was testing the battery life the past day or so just using it for web browsing and youtube and etc and at 95% the laptop states I have around 8 hours left which is quite good considering I do have the screen around 75% brightness. The intel i7 and 16GB of RAM makes this laptop a breeze and don't have to worry about it being slow for quite a few years for basic tasks at all.

This laptop is hands down the best performance per dollar available for a professional ultrabook right now. Pros: The screen is incredibly high quality track pad is one of the best I've used on a windows PC 16gbs RAM with an i7 is enough for almost all of my professional work. battery is reliable. Neutral: Slightly heavier than most other ultrabooks available. Not inconveniently heavy, just more than expected. Speakers are very competitive with other professional Windows laptops, but fire downward, so if the laptop is not on a solid surface, they lose a decent amount of umph. Cons: A lot of bloatware comes preinstalled, but it's easy enough to uninstall or reimage the drive.

It's a great laptop for the price (got it open box at a big discount) Pros: A) It's fast with 13700J B) Lightweight C) Color is great D) Contrast is great E) Keyboard is backlit F) Trackpad feels smooth and has a numpad G) It feels well built. H) Has two USB-C charging thunderbolt ports. Cons: A) No dedicated GPU B) Soldered RAM C) A bit of graininess due to the digitizer. Not noticeable during normal use. D) Charging USB ports are both on the right side of the laptop, so if you use a mouse, the cable will sort of be in the way. E) Battery life is MEDIOCRE. 4-10 hours depending on settings and use.

Though I absolutely love new tech, picking out a new laptop has become rather dull - like updating a smartphone to a nearly identical smartphone. Thankfully the Asus Q420 was able to catch my eye with the geometric design on the lid - because this laptop has truly blown me away. When I powered on the Q420 I was immediately shocked by how incredible the OLED screen looks. The black levels are absolutely incredible! Even the boot screen was impressive. The black levels are so dark that it truly looks like the black pixels aren’t even powered on. 14.5 inches is a fairly small screen, but the clarity and color richness make this laptop an absolute powerhouse for watching movies. Honestly, the video quality is noticeably better than any of the 4K HDTVs in my house. OLED is truly fantastic! As odd as it sounds, I sincerely appreciate that I feel comfortable actually using this laptop on my lap. The fans are whisper quiet and actually do a good job of keeping the laptop reasonably cool. I don’t feel like I’m sterilizing myself by blowing burning hot air into my lap. I can cozy up on the couch and check email, play games, and watch movies all without cooking my crotch. I am also impressed with how Asus has incorporated a 10-key pad into the touch-pad. Simply swipe from the upper left corner and the calculator app opens and the 10-key pad lights up on the keypad. Swipe again and the calculator closes. The function is a useful tool that allows the laptop to have a very usable 10-key pad without the need to shrink they keyboard. Thankfully this also means that the physical keyboard remains easy to use. My only minor complaints are that the pin hole camera (which is built into the top bezel above the screen) does not have a cover. There is a function key to turn the camera off, but no physical way to cover the camera. I also with that there was a built in memory card slot and a finger print reader. I must admit, however, that the FHD Infrared camera recognizes my face super quickly and logs me in nearly instantly. Overall, I am very pleased with the features, performance, and quality of this little Laptop. It really checks nearly every box. It is lightweight, durable, has great battery life, charges quickly, I can open the lid without the base lifting off of the table, it has a full 10-key pad, the screen clarity, color, and brightness are phenomenal, and the touchscreen works well. I highly recommend this little guy!

Overall, this is an excellent laptop for video streaming, social media, work and cloud gaming. One of the best things about this laptop, which separates it from the rest, is the screen. It is absolutely beautiful and great for watching videos at 4k. OLED makes everything look so vibrant. 120 Hz also means that the computer feels snappy, smooth and responsive. The keyboard is phenomenal and honestly one of the best that I have ever used. The body is sleek and has an amazing weight to it, making it feel premium while at the same time being relatively light. The speakers are incredible and the addition of Dolby Atmos is phenomenal, crisp sound while at the same time making it seem like there are speakers around you. I don't really like touch screen laptops but it's there if you do. It has 1 USB-A port, 1 HDMI port, 1 Audio Jack port and 2 USB-C ports. Webcam and microphone as well. I honestly think that this laptop is well priced specially if you can get while it is on sale. Some things that hold this laptop back are the GPU and battery life. I've had the laptop for a few months now and browsing the internet while listening to music gives me around 4-6 hours of battery life. I dread using the laptop while charging but if you don't mind then it won't be an issue for you. The GPU is basically non existent so don't expect this laptop to do any gaming, it is a school/work laptop after all. If you have good internet speed then this laptop will absolutely crush cloud gaming and all games will look gorgeous. Another minor con is that it only has 512 GB of storage but it can always be upgraded, I have a spare 4TB SSD that I am planning to install. If you don't feel comfortable doing that type of work then external drive will work just fine and are some what cheap nowadays. I think this is one of the best laptops out there right now when you consider what you get for your money, there are better laptops out there like the Zephyrus G14 but it will cost you a lot more and the screen won't be as nice. The screen is absolutely amazing and ahead of 99% of other laptops screen out right now, hard to express into words and something you have to see for yourself.

I think of ASUS as the Kia/Hyundai of the computer world. Good value but I’m always wondering where they cut corners to save a few pennies. (Full disclosure: I own a Kia; it is at once both the best and the worst car I’ve ever owned out of several.) Anyhow... This laptop has some cool features. But it isn’t flawless. So, try to get it on sale. STARTING WITH SOME BAD STUFF... 1. The left arrow key on mine seems a little flimsy compared to the other keys. It doesn’t have a satisfying feel when pressed. Sometimes, if only pressed lightly, the left key fails to register a button press. Thankfully, when pressed down more firmly the computer always recognizes the keystroke. So, it definitely works. Essentially 99.9% of the time. Though, I worry a little about its long-term durability. 2. Twice the Wi-Fi has briefly disconnected before quickly reconnecting on its own. This despite being only mere feet from the router. This happened on separate days. Maybe it’s nothing? 3. Solid white backgrounds have a sort of grainy textured look to them on this OLED display. It’s barely noticeable unless comparing directly to another device without it. Even then you might need to look for it specifically. Maybe some people don’t notice it at all. But it’s there. And it’s why I prefer dark mode on this computer. Thankfully, I never notice it watching videos. Plus, no other colors seem to be affected. Not that I can tell, anyway. (Well... except for maybe some super light grays, too.) 4. The corners of the computer keep poking into my arms when I type. Not noticeable at first but kind of annoying after longer typing sessions. I know everyone is different, so this maybe won’t be an issue for everyone. For me I’ll probably just invest in a foam or gel palm rest for the keyboard. 5. It gets a little warm when using this laptop actually on my lap instead of a desk. Like if I’m just sitting in a recliner. Too bad it’s not a 2-in-1 because then I’d prop it up into an A-shape and use it in tablet mode. Thus, keeping the cooling vents clear. It has a nice enough touchscreen that it wouldn’t have been a horrible tablet experience. ASUS was so close! That said, I knew it wasn’t a 2-and-1 when I bought it. 6. It’s a fingerprint magnet. Now to be fair the fingerprints clean up OK with a microfiber cloth. But it’s bad enough that I kind of wish it were silver so the prints would be less obvious. And I’m not big on silver laptops. 7. RAM not upgradable, unfortunately. AND HERE ARE SOME GOOD THINGS... 1. Love “Face Unlock” because my calloused fingers make fingerprint readers unusable. Sometimes I think everyone but me hates face unlock. But to me it’s a huge selling point. 2. Love the glossy screen. Is it reflective, sure. But I don’t like the look of matted, anti-glare screens even though I understand they can be useful. 3. This OLED display when playing HDR video demos is impressive. Like absolutely incredible. I mean it. Highlights get super bright and colorful in HDR and it is still fairly bright even in SDR—unlike those lower-end Dell Inspirion 5000 series computers. (I’m calling Dell out because I have one of those ready for the recycler and I hate its dim, low-res screen.) 4. Trackpad feels good to the touch, IMO. 5. Speakers are decent. It’s not so much that they’re awesome because they aren’t. However, they’re quite good compared to some truly bad laptop speakers (LG Gram, I’m looking at you!) 6. SSD is replaceable/upgradable for if in the future more storage space is needed. (I’ve already upgraded the one in mine.) AND COMPARING THE 8GB VERSION vs 16 GB VERSION... Originally, I bought the 8 GB version when it was on sale for $600. But after using it for about a day I became worried about the limits of 8 GB. So, I quickly returned the 8 GB model and bought this 16 GB model... at full price: $1000. Thankfully, a week later Best Buy dropped the price by a few hundred and I was able to get a partial refund. Anyway... Maybe the 8 GB model would’ve been fine long term. I dunno. I’m not a power user. But, in comparison, the 8 GB model seemed like it was often using 85% to 90% of available RAM when I checked under “Task Manager”. In contrast, at least the way I’m using my computer, the 16 GB model often shows around 44% to 52% of available RAM used, give or take. Additionally, I think I might’ve had more activities placed into “pause” status or into “energy efficient mode” than when compared to the 16 GB model. Not sure how much my comparison is worth since it isn't scientific at all. Like a lot is riding on my recollection of a laptop I only briefly had more than a couple of weeks ago. And I wasn't even running the exact same load each time. But I think it does reinforce the idea that 8 GB is perhaps the bare minimum for Windows 11 with little headroom to spare. So, I’m glad I ultimately went with the 16 GB model.

The 14X has a more powerful 13700H but does not have a paired GPU, which is fine if you do not do any heavy gaming. Productivity work felt easy and and snappy. The screen is a perfect size at 14.5" and the OLED touch display is fantastic. I loved the numeric keypad built into the touch pad. Battery life is average. Combination of high resolution and refresh rate eat into the battery life. Speakers were great as well. Would definitely recommend. One thing to note is the fans do run loud and the laptop does get hot, but overall, a great laptop.

I have approximately 3 weeks of usage so far. This laptop checks all the boxes for high performance with regards to working and everyday use. It's easy to setup and very fast with all load times. The battery life is excellent and the screen is crystal clear. The graphics card isn't great for gaming so don't expect to use this on AAA games or anything. But it can run modest, non-graphic-heavy games just fine.

Best value laptop in the game

Hands down, the best value laptop in the game. Try to get it on sale ($300 off) and nothing else even comes close to this for the price. Design: Very slim, lightweight, and minimal. I think it's made mainly from magnesium alloy, giving it a premium metal feel. The gun-metal gray finish is sleek without holding fingerprints. Did I mention it's only 0.66" thin ? Display: If you've seen OLED, you already know. Perfect blacks, infinite contrast , bright and vibrant colors. Just beware of the glossy finish - meaning you will see reflections in bright environments. Performance: The 13700H is right in that sweet spot of power and efficiency - powerful enough with 12 cores to handle any workload - but not too power-hungry and not too hot. No discrete gpu means its very lacking in the gaming department - but for any office or professional work, its perfectly fine. Battery: Excellent - blows away the competition. It's advertised to get up to 10 hours during light tasks, meaning you won't have to drag a charger with you for most days.
