An 8/10
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's an 8/10, here's why: Firstly, let's talk about the good stuff. It has one of the best displays of any laptop on the market. The 2.8k OLED display is fabulous. along with a solid keyboard with a nice, gimmicky trackpad that tracks all movement well. The build quality is great, second to none only to apple. The speakers are above average, but obviously nowhere near the level of MacBook speakers. If you use it casually though, it's alight. The CPU performance is outstanding. I measured 11 265 on geekbench 6 multicore, and 14 043 on Cinebench r23 multicore. It also does have okay levels of fan noise, and okay levels of heat. Just DONT use the performance setting, since it has little to no real world gains, and jus makes the laptop unbearably loud. Now, they bad stuff. I did say there were little to no gains on performance mode, but there are still some. The thermal throttling on this device is SIGNIFICANT. It only keeps 71% of its power after running Cinebench for around 12 minutes. Furthermore, if you get anything below the i9 variant, it only has iris xe graphics, which absolutely sucks. Even the graphic in the m1 air from almost 3 YEARS AGO does better in games, or rendering in most cases. The worst part however, is the battery life. The reviews of this laptop use video, or benchmark tests, but in reality, it's poor. I'm a pretty light user, and I got only about 5-6 hours of battery life. I keep the display at about 75% brightness. Video playback is better at about 8 hours, but who ONLY plays video? Nobody. I mainly browse articles, watch videos, and do some non-intensive coding. The battery life is a letdown, but that's the most the worst traits go. In summary, if you're looking for a device that has a phenomenal screen, with generally more priorities towards less intensive gpu tasks, this is an amazing laptop. The only cost is the bad battery life; if that's a trade you're going to make, go for it. One last thing to note is that the lenovo slim pro 7 can go for sale for 899 on bestbuy in the US, that's also amazinig. The display is IPS, and is not bright, along with less coverage of the DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB color space. It also has a slower CPU. However, it has a far, FAR better GPU, and has much better battery life. More importantly (for some people) it BARELY thermal throttles. That is also a solid choice, but it's a VERY close call between these 2 laptops

Great Value and Performance
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Asus ZenBook 14X (14.5” 2.8K OLED Touch Laptop) on June,2024 as an open-box item in good condition, and I’m very pleased with its performance and design. While it had a few minor scratches, they are barely noticeable and don’t detract from its premium look and feel. I thought there device might created some throttle sound after using it max and battery issue. The OLED display is stunning, with vibrant colors and sharp resolution, usually watch movie, vlog, youtube videos which gives richness and during work i find no lag or disrupt during coding use. However, the screen’s glossy finish can act like a mirror in bright locations or daylight, which might be distracting for some users. Performance-wise, the Intel i7-13700H processor and 16GB of RAM handle multitasking and demanding applications with ease. It’s fast, responsive, and perfect for everyday tasks or more intensive work. The 512GB SSD provides quick boot times and decent storage space for most users, though heavy file users may need to consider external storage. Overall, buying this as an open-box product was a great way to save money without sacrificing quality. The Asus ZenBook 14X is a great choice for anyone looking for a blend of style, performance, and value, especially if you primarily work indoors or can manage the occasional screen reflections in brighter settings.

Great little package!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Been a fan of Asus products in the past but this is my first laptop product from them. Really nice specs in such a small package. The display is bright, crisp, and and vibrant which has been great for photos, videos, and streaming media. The refresh rate makes it really nice to work on, and the flexibility of the touch screen makes it nice to change our task to task use of it. Compared to the laptop it replaced, the weight and battery life are fantastic and I see this staying in constant use for years to come. Setup and registration was easy!

Very nice
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Been using this laptop for almost a month, jumped on the deal when it was $800 - plus CC rewards brought it down to under $600. Now at that price it is an excellent machine which is why I'm giving it 5 stars, I've been using mainly the "whisper" mode - super quiet when doing any type of work and the temp stay cool with no throttling, even cool to the touch- no issues with heat at all. I mainly use it for light Fusion 360 work, web browsing and terminal/coding use for my side projects. So far I get at least 7ish hours when working a full load and about 9ish when browsing Edge and watching videos on YouTube, this is using 120 refresh rate and about half brightness and volume at about 40%. The build quality is superb and feels solid, love the full aluminum body and how cool it stays. The keys feel great and properly spaced for a fluid typing experience. A great feature is the num pad on the track pad when enabled, I've been using it a lot and it looks dope. The soldered ram sucks and hate that companies are going this route, make sure to get 16gb minimum for some "future" proofing. The option to upgrade the m.2 and wifi card is good, so at least I'm not limited to storage space. I'm not really liking the power button placement or the lack of finger print scanner, but that's just nit picking and not that big of a deal. Microsoft hello works great and hasn't caused any issues. The screen is superb, i know it hits on the battery drain but this panel is really good, color accurate and smooth. It being glossy isn't a big deal since i only use it indoors, but even if the room was well lit with sun i can still see great. I've been searching for a compact semi powerful 14" laptop, and out of all the options this one is the best for my needs. I'm very happy with with it so far an hope that it'll last at least 5 years like my previous laptop (non mac). Even for $1000 it's a good laptop, but if you can get it for under $800 then it's a no brainer- as of now.

What a Screen!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What a great laptop. First off that oled display is just amazing with inky blacks and colors that pop off the screen. Second its powered by a 13th generation i7 processor pairedwith 16gb of ram and a 512gb ssd. What more could You want! The battery is among the best I have seen in comparable windows pc's, though still not on par with apple's offerings. If Windows is Your playground then this is a solid machine lasting up to 8 hours of video use as long as I keep the brightness down. I would definitely purchase it again.

Great laptop for my Business Analytics program
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using this for about a month. It replaced a cheaper, older machine, so of course it feels super fast in all it does. The thing I really like is that the keyboard is really solid, and the screen is incredibly sharp, and the boot is fast and the battery lasts forever. The only real negative is that there's no hard number keyboard on the side. Its integrated into the touchpad, and it isn't really intuitive, so I just have been using the number row at top. Overall, I'm really pleased with my purchase.

Travel professional laptop! Asus FTW again!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I travel for a living. Portability is paramount. I own an original 13.3 Zenbook UX32VD Ultrabook now 12 years old! Just put a new battery and it still works great. I purchased this because this 14.5 is the exact same footprint as the old 13.3. If you buy a laptop with a powerful video card the power supply is going to be huge and weigh a ton. The 90W type C power supply it comes with is relatively small, but I purchased a 65W type C that is less than half the size of a pack of cigarettes. Yes, it takes a little longer to charge but worth it for portability. This laptop fits perpendicular in a standard 22 inch carry on! It has a 16:9 screen. I am not a fan of 16:10 screens. Great for movies but not productive. I wish this were 3:2 but the 16:9 is an ok compromise. My only disappointment was the lack of a sleeve. The UX32VD came with a high quality nylon sleeve that was felt lined. For a traveler that's a huge plus. The good news is since it is the EXACT same size as the old UX32VD, it fits perfectly in the old sleeve! Found one like new on ebay for $20. First thing I did was image the drive and install a 2tb NVMe. 512gb in today's world doesn't cut it. The screen is amazing. The number pad on the touchpad is handier than I thought it would be. Asus has always been the best with ports and it still is. This is not a gaming rig so it's unfair to test it as such. It's a powerful, solid, fast, well built travel machine with impressive specs and a reasonable price when on sale($699 plus another $100 for the 2tb). Bargain!

Everything You Could Need
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I haven't had a new laptop since 2014 and it was time for a new one. After lots and lots of research, I finally landed on this Asus Zenbook 14x and I have been blown away. I decided to go back to school and needed a fast, powerful computer for running all kinds of computer software and data and this computer has been a god send. It handles everything with ease, is incredibly fast, and looks absolutely fantastic. It is the perfect size as well. Small enough to be perfectly portable and big enough to see everything perfectly. It's a stunning 4k display as well. I've done some light gaming with no issues at all except for a bit if fan noise but it is hardly noticeable. Absolutely no fan noise or heat with regular use 6+ hours while doing school work running many different software programs. The keyboard is extremely comfortable and the numpad on the trackpad has been really convenient especially for data entry. It's very responsive. I love this laptop so much. The ONLY cons about it are the fact the screen is pretty reflective which is easily fixed by adjusting the screen angle a little bit and the keyboard, trackpad, and outside coating are a bit of fingerprint magnets. Of course that is easily fixed with a simple isopropyl alcohol wipedown. I bought this laptop on sale a month ago for $699: an absolute steal and I could not be happier.

Initial observations of new Zenbook.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As this is only being used as a new vacation laptop, it hasn't had a lot of use yet, but here are a few comments on what I've noticed so far. Everything is based on ASUS default settings. Screen is wonderful; bright, sharp and clear. Keyboard could be a little closer to the front of the computer for easier typing. Battery power is acceptable, about 4 - 5 hours of normal use. I have noticed that after turning on after a full charge, the battery level shows abut 95% battery power left after 5 minutes of use. I will need to watch this to see if there is something going on with the battery. The only way to get up to 10 hours as I see it is to change the default setting to a more energy saving mode (haven't tried this yet as it is not critical for me). Not a lot of "bloatware" to uninstall, so that is nice. Sound is surprisingly good which is nice, although I normally pair with Bluetooth speakers when traveling for better sound (maybe one less thing to carry in the future). Weight is acceptable; gray color does fingerprint easily as noted by others, but the Zenbook is something to use, not just sit and never be touched. I will update further as I use this a bit more and find things to share.

Is good!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this for ~$740 when it was on sale. It's very quick, plenty of RAM, decent SSD, and they have improved the cooling quite a bit (had the 12th gen Intel i5 and that ran hot). Battery life was surprisingly decent (7-10 hrs, depending on use). Ideal for bringing a cheaper laptop on a trip that can handle my Civ 5. And the display is scrumptious!

Nice laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop to use for online classes. So far, it is working quite well. The fan is relatively quiet when the processor ramps up and the laptop doesn't get hot to the touch like some other laptops I've used in the past. The touch screen and number pad that can be used in the mouse pad area are nice features. Also, this review is good for a chance at a $400 gift card.

Great laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Been using this laptop for more than 3 weeks now and so far it's great. Battery life is about 8-9 hours on straight use just documents and web browsing also screen brightness is about 60%. The screen is clear and bright with great colors. The laptop is light and thin and can barely hear the fan when under heavy load very quiet. Got on sale for 699.99 so just look out for sale.

Great Machine
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I decided it was time to replace my seven year old Lenovo Yoga which serves me very well. I plan on continuing to use it. I almost bought another Lenovo until I spotted this ASUS ZenBook. I am not sure I can add anything to the previous reviews. Pros: This ASUS Q420 is very fast. The OLED display is WONDERFUL. It is light but not at all flimsy. The 6E Wi-Fi is extremely fast. I am seeing Wi-Fi download speeds over 1gb. It sounds better than any laptop I have owned. The backlit keyboard is EXCELLENT. Seems to run cool. I have not noticed the fan running. Battery life is not stellar but it is more than enough for my uses. Cons: There should have been a USB-C port on both sides. I will probably need to buy a USB LAN adapter. That's it! Otherwise it is a great 14" laptop and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it.

||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great laptop with a wonderful screen. The keyboard is unmatched for my personal preference. It runs fast especially with the 16 GB of ram supporting the use of chrome along with other demanding applications. The fans are quiet despite the limited vents. The design is sleek and lightweight. Overall 5 star for myself.
