Impressive Laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been very impressed with the ASUS Zenbook Flip 15 Q538EI. I actually haven’t used a Windows OS since Windows XP, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Set up was super easy and only took a few minutes. It’s very easy to use and fast. Specifically in terms of hardware, this ASUS Zenbook is really nice. It feels really solidly built, yet lightweight. The size feels really perfect for me. I have another 2 in1 style laptop that has a bigger screen, but it always feels awkward to use in tablet mode because it just feels too big. This is not a problem with this ASUS Zenbook Flip, even in tablet mode it feels very comfortable to use. The screen hinges are also heavy duty and work very smoothly in any position. I really like the large trackpad surface area and the trackpad is easy to use and responsive. The keyboard also feels solid and well made and the keys are comfortable to type on and responsive. The speed performance is great. It boots up in less than 10 seconds. Apps also open in just a few seconds. It also easily handles multiple windows and switching between multiple apps. It works well with Zoom and was easy to setup for Zoom meetings. The screen is really nice and vibrant with 4K UHD and the touch screen sensitivity feels just right. I haven’t had the time to give the battery a full day workout yet, but so far the battery seems to last quite a while (at least several hours of continuous use) and recharges quickly. I’m really happy with the ASUS Zenbook it’s solid, lightweight, and performs great.

An Excellent Laptop

I was looking to replace a laptop, and positive comments from family members and tech web sites piqued my interest Asus. Based on that positive information and the Q538EI’s specs, I went for it and am so pleased I did. As I opened the box and got the first look, I was liking what I saw. Too often, beauty is only skin deep, but the more I dug into it, the outer beauty was starting to show it continued to the inside. The first feature I encountered is a clearly defined spot to for opening the laptop. As devices get thinner, I find them getting harder to open. Asus solved that problem. From this point on, I became more and more impressed with package and its power. Feature loaded, the Q538EI provides a lot for one to work/play with, including: • An outstanding battery. Fully charged, I averaged about 2 hours per day use during the first 3 days. At that juncture, I still had hours of use still available. • Processing: 1T Intel Core SSD i7 (11th Gen) and 16Gb RAM • Viewing: OLED touchscreen: Amazingly true color; Certified low blue-light emission, flicker-free operation, and reduced reflection • For gamers: GeForce GTX 1650Ti graphics. • Wi-Fi 6 with a booster using multiple antennas to ensure maximum range • Harman/Kardon audio; AI Noise Cancelling which will be helpful for online conferencing • Media Ports: 2 USBC-4, 1 USB-3.2, SD reader, HDMI • Built like a rock with military grade durability • Lighted keyboard • Numeric keypad: Not often provided these days, but I love it. The inclusion tightens up the keyboard, but I am quickly adjusting to it. • Echo Alexa built-in: sealed the deal for me. I am totally enrapt with the Asus Q538EI and look forward to ongoing great performance. It’s not unusual to find some little annoyance with any new product; but, so far, I have yet to find one. I love it and most definitely recommend it. If provides a LOT of bang for the bucks!

Elegant Laptop

It looks and feels very nice and lives up to its “premium” status given by Asus. The screen is incredibly crisp and conveniently touchscreen. The hinges seem strong and using the flip feature feels secure. I really like the 1TB SSD storage, I think it’s plenty and I supplement it with an external SSD as well. The keyboard is pretty standard, and the keys have a good “click” feel. The number keypad on the right side is a little narrow. The 16GB ram keeps the laptop working fast so I had no issues using Photoshop and Lightroom. Most of my laptop usage is for the internet and blogging, but I also do some occasional image editing. I own a Surface Pro Pen that paired nicely via Bluetooth with this laptop. I mostly use it to write on my digital planner. Microsoft pairs so well across devices so I’m able to switch between a smaller screen and this 15.6” screen while using the pen. My first impression when using the pen was that the contact from the pen nib to the screen felt ‘sticky’ for lack of a better term. Eventually the pen started gliding easier, especially after I wiped the screen with a microfiber cloth. If I had to add or request a feature, I would have liked a magnetic place to store the pen. Overall, this is a great laptop for anyone wanting an elegant machine that also has fun extras like the flip and touchscreen features.

ASUS laptop doesn't work well with WIN 11

Sent to Geek Squad today, and just got informed that its 1T SSD failed. That's after 1 yr 3 months, 4 days of light use. Most importantly, I lost some of my files (didn't backup everyday). BTW, this laptop had another blue screen death in Jan. 2022 after WIN 11 21H2 update. Is it Microsoft's WIN 11 updates are killing it? or Asus Laptop hardware is unreliable? I can't stop using Windows based laptop, but can avoid another ASUS laptop (this is my 2nd problematic ASUS laptop, 1st can't be updated to WIN 11).

Very good laptop

The only downside is the weight very heavy to carry. But I used it only for work from home purpose so it didn’t bother me much. This laptop and OS - not my cup of tea

I use those 4 buttons and the numerical keypad constantly so having to keep switching between them using Num Lock was very annoying. Also, I'm used to having 0 below the 2, so having it below the 1 was something I couldn't adapt to. And Windows 11 ---- where do I even start? That new OS did so many annoying modifications to the apps and task bar options that's it's clear I should stick to Windows 10. For all these reasons, I returned the laptop after 2 weeks.

Gorgeous Screen On an Excellent Laptop

The fact that it is touch screen, and let me tell you why. The screen on this laptop is so good looking that I hate you using any of the touchscreen features because it smudges up the screen. I typically do not watch much tv or movies on my laptop if I want to watch something on a smaller device I typically grab my tablet and watch there. But ever since I got this laptop I have been watching more and more content on it because the screen is so big an vibrant. The laptop has plenty of power to run any and all apps I throw its way, I did some very light gaming and the nvidia graphics card was able to handle it no problem. The laptop never felt that it got too hot and while it is a big bulkier than most laptops it does not feel too big. Overall I love pretty much everything about this laptop, It looks great and performs just as well. If you are looking for a do eveything laptop I highly recommend it.

Not worth the price

My $660 Lenovo is faster and still works great and it's half the price. Not sure why it started becoming glitchy, I had the best maintenance clean-up programs to avoid this, but never the less it was happening. I returned this and got a Dell instead. I do not recommend.

Amazing Display and Plenty of Power
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Once you've used a laptop with an OLED there is no going back to LCD. The screen on this Asus is stunning and makes content creation and consumption a joy. I primarily use this laptop for photo editing and daily web browsing. I have played a few games and the GTX 1650ti holds it's own with most games at 1080p. Be prepared to turn down some settings on really graphically demanding games, but on most popular games you can achieve 60+ FPS on high settings. The keyboard is another highlight for me, it's chicklet style but the key activation is quick and there is a very nice firm tactile bump. I am also glad that they allocated more room to the letter keys and used smaller keys for the number pad and arrows. This makes the key spacing much nicer for typing with larger hands while still having the functionality of number pad. My last laptop had closer, evenly sized keys and I much prefer typing on this Asus. The function keys default to their assigned shortcut which is nice for daily use but for app shortcuts you can lock the Fn key so they default to their F designation. The overall build is very sturdy with zero screen or deck flex as it is constructed out of aluminium instead of plastic. The trackpad is very generously sized and appropriately positioned with a nice smooth surface. The built-in SD card reader is a nice convenience but I really wish it was UHS-II like my previous laptop as the speed difference is absurd. Power delivery on the USB-C ports would be nice for lighter tasks on the go but sadly it is not supported, despite being labeled as Thunderbolt 4. The upsides of this laptop far outweigh these minor quibbles. This is a fantastic laptop with great build quality and an amazing screen!

Horrible replacement and purchasing experience

Nothing occurred as promised. The ability to access someone who knew what was happening was nil. Not only did my computer totally fail, it took two months (not 2-3 weeks as promised) to get me a new one, and that was after numerous blotched communications. I have not had my replaced computer long enough to evaluate it.

Bad

Had to return it for a refund, and they were pretty much out of stock of any other good machines. Also, my co worker has this same computer and has had a ton of problems with it. Disappointing. The sales person that helped me was beyond awesome though. Vincente did a great job helping me out.

Normally, if a brand-new product was ordered and paid, WINDOWS activation process is automatic, after the initial WINDOWS setup completed and the laptop connected to the internet, since the SLC(Software License Code) is embedded in the BIOS. Entering a product key manually is not required, authentication or activation process is automatic, as mentioned. Please check with your seller if you were shipped with a brand new product,

The cooling system on the laptop is working properly per quality testing and inspections. It is normal for the fan to spin at full-throttle and the laptop will generate more heat than normal while under heavy load especially during WINDOWS Update and antivirus scan. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full-throttle. Please ensure the air ventilations are free from obstructions in order to have an efficient air flow for better heat dissipation. While gaming, please ensure no resource hungry applications are running in the background, this will definitely speak the temperature. The heat or temperature does decreases or normalizes once system resource utilization goes down.

Dangerously hot

Unfortunately 4 weeks after purchase it started overheating in my bag while asleep. Extremely hot to the touch and smelled like smoke. Yikes! Probably just that machine but can't risk it again. Returned. Best buy was great about it.

Never got to use it

If the laptop will not power on, boot up or it's just black screen, please do the following.
Verify if the AC adapter is connected properly from the laptop to a known good power outlet or AC source. Try another power source. Try to press and hold down the power button to shut it down completely, just in case laptop is not in hibernate mode, wait for at least 10 seconds then power on. Please wait, if the system is applying updates in the System Registry, it will black screen temporarily. If it still black screen after a few minutes, at least 10 minutes, please repeat the power cycle process again. Also, please try to disconnect the power cable and let the unit drain for 24 hours to clear the memory. This will reset the hardware to default settings. After doing this, please reconnect your AC adapter, do not power on the laptop until the battery was charged.

Asus Zenbook FAIL

It is normal for the fan to spin at full-throttle when the laptop is booting up since services and processes are loading simultaneoulsy and while the laptop is under heavy load like gaming, especially during the initial WINDOWS setup and WINDOWS Update installation. Also, the fan noise will be louder while antivirus software or malware are running continuously in the background. Please make sure the system was not compromised by viruses or malware by doing a full system scan using an internet security software or application. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full-throttle and noise will be louder than normal. It does decreases or normalizes once utilization goes down.

Disappointing
