    Beautiful laptop until it overheats

    I've had this laptop for 5 days so far. I set it up, deleted any bloatware, stopped unnecessary programs from automatically running at Windows startup, updated all windows/hardware/software drivers, installed hardware monitoring software for temperature mainly (HWiNFO, HWMONITOR, etc) having read this laptop has issues. This laptop has frozen/crashed several times already, all while streaming YouTube! I even set the fans at constant full speed in the MyAsus app for maximum cooling potential and that did not prevent it from overheating. I didn't even get to test and push the hardware to any limits with benchmark programs yet and what does it matter at this point (plenty of tech YouTubers already have that data). I made sure to have the ventilation on the bottom rear of the laptop fully exposed, not just on a flat table which only provides maybe a few millimeters of clearance but i actually set it up to leave a huge gap where the holes are for maximum airflow but nothing helped (see photo). This laptop is thin and light with great potential but the overheating issues are unacceptable and inexcusable. This will be going back. What a shame. The screen is beautiful, the keyboard and trackpad are nice and the speakers sound good but who cares if you have to deal with a brand new laptop crashing in 2024.

    Upgraded from the previous model this thing is so fast and smooth I multitask has 32 gigs of RAM which is outstanding never stuttering has been amazing battery life is absolutely outstanding.

    This has everything I'm looking for, watching YouTube takes about 10% an hour. Light use it lasts up to 13ish hours. The touch screen is amazing, keyboard feels great, and even the graphics can hold its own. My only gripe with it is the price, it is quite spendy for a laptop, but for a notebook/MacBook style, it's wonderful! Side note... The stickers added on are angled wrong, and an HDMI sticker??? In 2024? Lol

    Should have been good, but plagued with issues

    Bought this laptop just for web browsing & Microsoft office usage. After a few days of use, I had to return it due to a few issues that I couldn't excuse. Issues: - CPU runs very hot. Just for normal tasks like web browsing, the laptop would get hot enough that I couldn't keep it on my lap. I personally believe that it's due to the chassis being too thin to properly cool it. Perhaps if you keep it on a desk you could get by, but I couldn't excuse it. - Touch pad did not feel good to use. Hard to explain, but I just found it unpleasant to use. It's a shame because it's so large which deserves some kudos, but after using a MacBook for a while, this one just feels poor. - The front facing camera didn't work. I thought that maybe I hadn't installed a driver, but from some internet research, others have had the same issue. Apparently it's due to the drivers being signed for a beta version of Windows instead of the current version. Either way, the front facing camera and IR camera just weren't detected by the computer and weren't usable. - Minor gripe, but I dislike how the power button is just a normal key in between the delete and print screen. If it had a different click style then it wouldn't be too bad, but it being just a normal key that you can accidentally misclick is a bit annoying. Just to balance things out, somethings I like about it: - Nice screen. OLED at 2880x1800 looks good at this size and 120hz, touch, and pen support are also nice additions. I'm personally not affected by the supposed flickering so your mileage my vary. - Decent port selection. 2x USB-4 ports, 1x USB-A, HDMI, and SD card it enough for my use case. - Good build quality. Doesn't feel cheap or flimsy apart from the trackpad. The "Ceraluminum" (or however it's spelled) generally feels nice, gives it some character. - CPU seems powerful and efficient enough. I don't really use any heavy processor applications, but from my use case, I didn't really have any hiccups. - I didn't get enough time to see how the battery life is so I have nothing to say about that. It's honestly a shame because this is a nice laptop, but for the long run, I couldn't justify the issues the laptop has.

    If it worked all the time it would be fantastic.

    Only had this computer few months, still under apparently useless warranty. Writing this review from my old MSI laptop because this ASUS is locked up, practically a brick and best buy and ASUS wont help. This computer is locked up after ASUS automatically did a firmware update. ASUS says work with Best Buy. Bust Buy want $150 to look at it under warranty. It also has a tendency to just go black and no respond to any thing, CTRL-DEL, power button press, sleep button press. Only way to get it to comeback is long power button press to force it to shutdown. On the plus side I've not had any wifi issues nor heat issues even when I was doing batch transcoding. IT is a very fast computer and did transcoding faster than my old gaming lap top. I used KDENLive to do video editing and it is great for that. It also rendered the videos very fast even at 1080p

    The ASUS Zenbook S16 is the best laptop I’ve owned. It’s super thin and light but still feels solid, with a stunning OLED screen that makes everything look sharp. Performance is fast and smooth, battery easily lasts all day, and it charges quickly. The keyboard and trackpad are comfortable, the speakers and webcam are great, and it has all the ports I need. Sleek, powerful, and reliable — highly recommend.

    Initially this laptop looked amazing for what I needed, and it started off fine... Until the issues started. I should've returned it, but I thought "surely this one won't be as bad as the one I already returned". I was wrong. This is my second laptop of the exact same model and I'm having the exact same issues; overheating, wifi disconnecting constantly, random system devices just stop working randomly. I thought it must've just been some kind of driver problems, but at this point Asus should've ironed any out... It's the worst product I've ever bought from Asus by a LONGSHOT! DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

    This laptop had everything I was looking for; fast CPU, lightweight, 32 GB ram, nice display. But I returned it because the display had a flicker problem. The laptop also runs very hot which wasn’t a big issue to me but still a negative. I returned it a day before my return period expired since I don’t really want to take the chance with ASUS warranty process (from previous experience and their poor reputation), especially with such a expensice laptop. I ended getting a different laptop since retuning and exchanging for another one would another week or 2 to get.

    Had to return, blue screen several times a day. No software installs besides what came with it. Called ASUS support and had me reset windows but that didn’t help. Had me reset bios to default which help a bit but still crashes twice a day or so instead of 12. Returned and got different brand.

    ASUS keyboard quite working after windows setup

    Had great hopes for this computer. Went through the windows setup and upon completion the keyboard stopped taking input. Same with an external keyboard. Called ASUS technical service and got in immediately, no wait. The tech was unable to help me much since the keyboard didn't function. Directed me to return unit. I did and after another two weeks received replacement. Same thing occurred after window setup keyboard stopped working. Again went to ASUS technical support and received better help. able to use the screen keyboard and able to do further troubleshooting, removing drivers and reinstall. In the end factory reset the laptop and started windows setup. The keyboard always work during the setup, but once complete the keyboard stops working. When I asked the technician if this was common and he said no. Two in a row indicate they have a software incompatibility issue. Ended up returning it and getting a more expensive Mac and happy with it. I'm not against ASUS. None of the reviews on line indicate this issue. Probably a new driver, hardware or windows update that creating the issue.

    I really, really liked this computer, until... First, the screen keeps randomly dimming itself and I have to keep adjusting it manually, every day...Very annoying. Second, only 4 months in, I had to completely reinstall Windows...Big hassle. Third, and worst, now only 7 months old and the screen went out completely...Extremely disappointed, major hassle. It is now in Asus service for this. For an $1,800 machine, I expect a lot more than this. Very, very disappointed. I should have read all the negative reviews before I purchased this. I agree with them now. Avoid this computer. Asus, you must do better than this! I never had these issues with the last 4-5 Dell machines I had before this. I now regret switching.

The random screen dimming in Windows 11 is typically caused by automated brightness features designed to save power or reduce eye strain. This can be disabled inside Windows Settings > Display.     great if you dont have any problems

    I was ready to buy a second one of these but the first one I bought for my sone had the screen die... this was not the bad part, I paid for the best buy premium support plan and he took it to geek squad where they had to send it into asus.. it has been 3 weeks and we have not received any updates at all. I canceled my second order and bought a dell from dell with a dell warranty I know dell will come out and have my device fixed within 2 days max as I have had dell laptops in the past... I will never buy from best buy or asus again

    Great until it crashes

    I wanted to love it, and I did for a day or two, but then I started to get a large number of crashes that I couldn't ignore. Returned. Really puzzling because I've also used the Asus Zephyrus G16 with the same chipset, and it is rock solid.

    Tools of the Trade: No Room for Compromise

    It's a good laptop, honestly, but as a software developer, I need to run Visual Studio, Docker, and SQL Server Management Studio. I somehow felt it was a bit slow for my needs. Additionally, I wish there was an option to upgrade the RAM, but since that's not possible, I'm planning to get the ProArt StudioBook 16 instead.

    Laptop freezes constantly

    Laptop freezes constantly when watching YouTube or Netflix and Asus doesn't know how to fix the problem. Could be bad drivers from AMD or the MediaTek modem which is soldered and can not be replaced. A shame because is a nice machine rushed into the market when it's not ready and fully tested.

    It's a great laptop. Word of advice, enter the laptop to go to the Asus website to update the bios and also AMD website to update the hard drive and it will be running smoothly
