The external ASUS-ZenDrive 8x Max DVD Write Speed External USB 2.0 DVD+RW CD/-RW Drive provides the write dvd rw/cd-drive that is missing from most of today's laptops. It's very lightweight and goes wherever my laptop goes. I can now play some of my older dvds and cds as well as record using the drive.

My new computer doesn’t have an optical drive. This drive works great. Easy to plug into usb port and works perfectly to read my CDs and DVDs. You can also write and store data with this drive. It was on sale the day purchased and easy pickup at local Best Buy store.

The ASUS ZenDrive 8x Max External DVD+RW/CD-RW Drive works exactly as you would think. Even without the included software the device works just fine. The USB A and C connection options make this drive easily compatible with a variety of computers. The build quality is also good and mostly rigid. So far, it meets expectations but doesn't exceed them.

Worked fine for loading my tax software and for copying (burning) some music disks (yeah...I'm a dinosaur!!!). Was highly rated online and I hit a sale, so happy with the purchase. It is way smaller than I expected, and did come with cables. Now I need to find a bag/case to keep everything together.

This drive is cheap enough to justify purchasing with any modern laptop, even if your use cases may be small. It's capable of doing just about anything you may ever need to do in terms of optical media, and will probably last for many years of moderate use.

I bought this after reading the box, because it said it was usb-c...there is No usb-c receiver plug available on the unit, Anywhere. There was a usb 2.0 cable and a usb-c cable in the box. I bought it due to the ASUS name...what a let down. Box descriptors have been a let down since 30 years ago. Whomever was the designer for the box cover needs a lesson on how to properly advertise the contents.
