Worked fine for loading my tax software and for copying (burning) some music disks (yeah...I'm a dinosaur!!!). Was highly rated online and I hit a sale, so happy with the purchase. It is way smaller than I expected, and did come with cables. Now I need to find a bag/case to keep everything together.

    Mis-information printed on the box.

I bought this after reading the box, because it said it was usb-c...there is No usb-c receiver plug available on the unit, Anywhere. There was a usb 2.0 cable and a usb-c cable in the box. I bought it due to the ASUS name...what a let down. Box descriptors have been a let down since 30 years ago. Whomever was the designer for the box cover needs a lesson on how to properly advertise the contents.

Its a good burner and works with Windows 11. The only issue is that you have to buy software to create backups of your hard drive and the software doesn't work with Win 11, so don't bother buying the software. Its portable so I like the fact I can use it with my laptop.

    usb DVD Drive on Linux

Works as it should on Linux. Feels solidly built and has a nice compact size. Haven't tried writing yet though. Of course (without unusual software) one can copy off data into files, archives, filesystems and iso images (the latter with standard optical disk making and copying software.) Then, access the iso image with the -o loop option when mounting it.

    Nice Little DVD Reader

The ASUS ZenDrive is a nice little DVD reader. Recently the DVD reader in my laptop died. Since new laptops today generally are not equipped with DVD readers and because I occasionally need to read DVDs, I opted to get an external DVD reader to use with my rickety old laptop. After researching DVD readers, I settled on the ZenDrive. So far it has flawlessly read every DVD I could throw at it. As a bonus, the setup is trivial and its everyday use does not require outlandish computer skills.

Excellent product so far. I have it about a month to replace the integrated one that fails to see a disk. It worked great to reinstall some software from a CD disk that I had. Does what it's supposed to with very little effort as easy as plug and play.

I mean I bought to install my photoshop onto my Mac laptop but since my Mac isn’t like my hp laptop (which is old) it doesn’t have the space capacity for the installation. I basically bought it for nothing but it works pretty good

It worked great for a while (8 or 9 months) then it started slowing down. Maybe it was the media I was using. It would not read some of my CDs but some it read fine. It started going slower and just spinning, making a whistling noise. I don't use it much but when I do it usually works, just needs a little TLC

Absolutely essential, since they stopped including a writeable Drive on your lap top!!! This one works well and is a great value for the price. Small enough to take with you when you travel!! I took it to Europe and it worked fine with the Danish voltage.

The first CD burner I ever saw was the size of a microwave. Now they are relics of a bygone era, and they do DVDs (remember those?). This works as advertised and will transport you back to your childhood.

Seems quite adequate for my needs. It's lightweight and quite portable. It could be faster. I haven't used it a lot because there's really not a lot of call for a CD reader and writers anymore. The rack seems to be a little flimsy but it works well and probably shouldn't be beaten on any how. So if you are a heavy-handed goon you should pass this one up

Name brand at an excellent price. It does what it is supposed to do, straight forward, and simply. My only issue is that I had to get this since the computer manufacturers have taken optical drives out of laptops - but this Asus Zen Drive certainly works for me.
