Got this to try out the AR functions but mainly because of the hardware built into it. Very fast and never lags even though multiple data heavy apps. Very clear pictures and videos from both front and back cameras.
ASUS software is very good and user friendly. Didn't use Google Tango much, was quite invasive and Google stopped supporting it. But do use some of the AR functions for measuring and locators.
Phone does great with VR apps and looks awesome on headset. Did a few apps but just not me and don't always have time.
If you want a really well functioning phone, this is a good choice. Just limited on selection of cases available for it, but Speck has a good one.
I would recommend this to a friend

My phone stopped during my travel this weekend (09/07/2018).
The battery was in 6% then I put it to recharge and turn the phone off to accelerate the recharge. When I tried to turn it on, I had no answer. It doesn't work anymore.
PS: I was in a travel without possibility to use GPS, Uber, weather app, and of course...call to anyone.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

It lives up to its name. Great electronic device. very fast, great pictures. loads of features. loves linking to things. throws to tvs great.
Buy a Daydream device to use the AR features which are amazing. prepare to get motion sickness. rollercoaster app is unreal.
only 1 complaint is that the daydream makes it hot. like hot hot. but then my Xbox also gets hot when im running great looking apps/games. Forget Samsung or Apple and get yourself out of the circle. trust a computer phone to computer people.

Disgusted that the screen replacement on this is nearly impossible to find the part for, and at an expense over $400!
