So I was in the market for a good round Android Wear watch, and after a lot of research I decided to bite the bullet and order a Zenwatch 3. I have to say, first and foremost, the primary demographic for a smart watch is someone that likes and wears watches and wants one that has a little extra functionality, they aren't going to change your life.
Anyway, so far I've done absolutely none of the battery saving tricks people recommend and I still easily get 24-36 hours out of a charge, I wear it at night and just charge it in the morning because a complete charge for this thing is like maybe 30 minutes with the included charger.
I don't think I've ever used a non stock watch band, so the proprietary watch band doesn't really impact me all that much. The design is beautiful, people often don't even know it's a smartwatch, and for me that's awesome. The lack of NFC is a little bit of a bummer, especially since it's looking like Android Wear 2.0 will include Android Pay, but oh well, I'm planning on getting a Gear S3 at some point, and I always have my phone on me so that's no big deal.
10/10 would recommend, especially at this price point if you're just looking for a good watch that offers a little extra.

Like the other review let me start off by saying I did not buy at Best Buy. I wanted it early.
It looks as good or better in person as does the pictures. I will say that this is my first smartwatch and as such have been very happy with the features and use mostly for "work" rather than fitness types of apps.
The battery makes it easily through the day for me, but would not make it through 2 with normal use. The charger is very quick, so in 15 min you can have it ready for another day. However right now you can't find an extra charger, the promised "battery pack" or an extra (or different) watch strap.
The buttons are easy to use. The latest software version now lets you change the top and bottom buttons to be something more of your choice.
The options with Android wear and the ZenWatch Manger apps make the watch give you about as many or as few notifications on the watch as you want. This is great for me as I keep the phone on vibrate/silent most all of the time, but can now easily see some of the important notifications on the watch.
I would absolutely recommend this watch.

Great Smartwatch except for the band design

This an excellent smart watch for the price as long as you aren't looking it to replace a fitness band.
Unfortunately it has one major flaw in the custom band design which is severely flawed. The "genuine leather" band that came with mine lasted less than three days before the paper like leather tore at the plastic insert that attaches it to the watch. The quick release design weakens an already weak attachment. Worse, there are no replacements of any sort available for sale from ASUS or other vendors. What is listed is out of stock. This failing takes this from a 5 star to 3 star rating until ASUS does something about this.

I originally had the Zenwatch 1 and had never had any problems. I upgraded to the zenwatch 3 for some of the extra features and I also really like how it looks. I ordered my first one about a week ago from the BestBuy website. The first one would not power on, I tried charging it and nothing happened at all. I took it back to exchange it. They did not have it in stock so they had to rush order another. It came in 2 days later, and I tried it out in the store. The 2nd watch had a bad display, the pixels were discolored. I was going to have them order me a new one. However, it was showing as "sold out" on their site and they could not place an order, and did not know when it was going to be available again. I returned the 2nd watch, got a refund, and went with the Samsung Gear S3 instead.
I really wanted to give the zenwatch 3 a try. the watch itself looks really nice and is lighter weight than the other smart watches. With the Asus pushing back the US release date 3 times, the 2 defective watches I received, and the inability to request a third, it seems like ASUS dropped the ball on this one.

Great watch, terrible support

This watch is very good for the price and compares well even against more expensive watches. However, the peripherals Asus has promised for this watch seem to be barely available.
My strap broke within a week, and I was told to send the entire watch back to have it repaired. If the charger or (not very durable) strap breaks, it can be difficult or impossible to find replacements. The extra battery does not appear to be available anywhere even months after release.

Very attractive watch, but it has a design flaw

I love the functionality of the Asus Zenwatch 3 however there is a design flaw. I already had the watch in for warranty repair once when it would not charge properly. They reset the components and returned it. I started having charging problems again with it again. This time they said I damaged it. ASUS said the watch showed a green and brown substance triggering the contacts to corrode inside the watch causing it to not charge. The contacts on the watch for charging are made of copper. Sweat causes copper to corrode, creating a green substance. It is a design flaw to put copper in contact with the skin. It appears ASUS declared the watch to be damaged so the consumer would have to pay for the repair rather than ASUS eating the cost for their design flaw. Unfortunately I did not get a Best Buy Support Agreement and they are unwilling to assist me with ASUS. ASUS is refusing to listen.
