Solid Router with Foolproof Setup Process

Two things about this router, first one is its foolproof setup. I plugged them in, set one on my desk, the main router in its place. The thing is I didn't quite get the power fully connected, it was loose. The power came off partway through the setup. The unit needed to restart. I thought I'd need to reset to factory and begin again. Much to my pleasant surprise, the setup program just waited for it to return and finished without errors. Remarkable. The second one is the range and strength of the signal. We have full strength signals throughout our house. Our home is an elongated U shape, 95 feet front to back. Every corner has solid connectivity now. Highly recommended if you have dead spots or difficulty getting through multiple walls to achieve whole-house connectivity. These two should handle all but the very largest home.

I bought these to use with my Asus router and set up a mesh network. We have a 1929 two-story home, and the 1 router wasn't enough to cover the whole house. I set one of these upstairs in the hallway and one downstairs in the back bedroom, while the main router is in the living room in the front of the house. We have several kids and lots of devices, and these handle all of it. We aven have fast wifi in the back yard. And set up is quite easy using the Asus app. Only difficulty was deciding on best place for upstairs unit. Took a little trial and error, but I got it figured out.

Best router I have owned. Replaced three mesh routers with two of these. One in the main house with a wired backhaul inside steel workshop 30 feet away. Two of these cover an acer lot inside and out. I have a smarthome with over 55 devices connected to Wi-Fi (not including 75 Zwave devices connected through a smart hub) and utilize at least three streaming devices at a time, speed has never been an issue. I’ve rebooted it maybe twice in three months. Can use Alexa to reboot the router or check for firmware updates. App has greatly improved from first gen Lyra.

I bought this to not only restrict specific devices used by my children, but also enhance my house WiFi coverage. This unit does everything without having to subscribe to anything. I should have started with Asus instead of after trying and being disappointed by an equivalent Netgear product (Orbi).

I was using a Wifi extender and getting annoyed having to switch between networks and not being able to use certain things in different rooms because they were on different networks. The ASUS Zen Wifi has solved my problems. It is extremely easy to set up and now everything is on the same network. I have no buffering problems using it to stream. Excellent product.

A great purchase for our three floor 1800 sq ft. townhome. We were able to place the router in the basement and the second node in the upstairs, covering all three floors very well. Set up was relatively easy, even for a newbie like me. Very consistent Wi-Fi coverage with very few dropouts.

Super easy to install and gives excellent coverage to. A two story 3300 square foot house where a router and extender had previously left me with some spots uncovered. Good coverage and speed for the price and not ugly.

I now work from home and my home office is upstairs and at the opposite end of the house. The signal from my internet provider’s modem was decent, but very inconsistent. I tried a web extender and that added consistency for my office, however, it did not help in the master bedroom. After adding the ASUS mesh system, we now have consistent 5 gHz throughout the entire house and running multiple web based devices does not seem to affect it.

We have an old home with plaster walls that do not allow for easy transmission of wifi signals. Had very spotty coverage in the house. This product fixed it. No longer have issues, strong signal throughout the house. Easy set up. App is a little clunky but OK.

2 things I like about this mash systems over other brands are; 1. Each node is a router by itself. 2. I can choose to split into 2 SSID for 2.4GHz and 5 GHz or single SSID for both. So I can still connect my older techs that only support 2.4GHz such as smart lights.

Really really good. A major upgrade from linksys standalone router with extender I has bought only about 3 years ago. No more bouncing between two networks, extremely fast, broad reach, and setup took 15 minutes. Both latency and bandwidth improved measureably. Very happy with this equipment. Owned for about a month.

I setup the router and satellite as the default AiMesh configuration. Single SSID for 2.4G and 5G bands. This was the default firmware. Issue 1. My clients would only connect to the 2.4G band. Never the 5G band no matter how close I was. So I factory reset and redid the configuration, but this time, I used separate SSIDs for 2.4G and 5G bands. Issue 2. Clients could only connect to the 2.4G SSID, not the 5G SSID. Maybe a defective unit. Then I updated the firmware using the ASUS Android app. Halfway thru the firmware installation, the app stated an error occurred, and app did not complete installation. Factory reset to start clean again. And now, the satellite would connect to router momentarily during setup, then disconnect. App shows only one node in system after setup was complete. Did several rounds of factory reset and configuration. I could have exchanged it, but it was just easier to go with another brand. This was a disappointment. My new mesh system is not as fast, but it works as expected.

First purchase: unit would not connect to mesh node; called support and was told to return it. Second purchase Pros: easy to install And manage via App. Great range. Cons: unstable signal; 5G is useless due to instability. Speed would very and have lots of drops. Tried changing node location (5ft max) and configuring it using different channels for Wi-Fi. Went back to my old ASUS Rt-86uc and I can trust my connection again. Maybe was just bad luck with both units

Thank you for sharing your feedback on this model. We're sorry to hear about the unstable connection you're having with this model. Please allow us to make your experience with ASUS a better one. We would recommend that you try changing the channel bandwidth of each band of 2.4 GHz to 20 MHz, and for 5GHz please select 60MHz. Ultimately there were just too many options on this to make it feasible for me to keep and use. The build quality and features are impeccable if you desire the ability to do a lot of tweaking and calibration. I was able to cover all 3 floors of our house with just a single one of the units. Our house is around 2100sf total, so that's some pretty decent coverage. I think if you have a larger home you'd really get full use from this system. Ultimately I returned it and opted for the Wifi 6 version since I had 3 devices that could take full advantage of the WiFi 6 feature set.

These provided great speeds at the beginning however after a day or so the network speeds were terrible. I would have to reboot the devices and then the speeds would get back to what I am suppose to get. I was hoping this would work because this is one of the few mesh routers that allow 2 different ssid's one for 2.4ghz and one for 5ghz. But unfortunately I have not been able to find a mesh network that works well and I have tried a handful.

We upgraded our internet to gigabit fiber and wanted the wireless network strong enough to keep pace. The ASUS mesh network lives up to the hype. Strong enough for the baby to stream tv while both parents are on video conferences.
