I have been hesitant to retire my Apple AirPort Extreme Time Capsule (with 2 Express satellites) because it has served me well for five years. I am a competent tech user but not interested in becoming a specialist in networking - I just want a fast, stable network that performs. I've had this system for about a week now and so far I am completely happy. Set-up was extremely simple using my iPhone. I like its control center and appreciate the ease of renaming devices to something easily identifiable so I can be sure there is nothing unexpected using my network. The automatic updates are a big plus to keep the system protected. Our home is 2,000 sq feet on two levels and the three units provide total coverage. Each unit has one connector for an ethernet device; I'm using all three and performance has been very steady. Speed is about 30% better than I was getting with my Apple router.

Great; Bit of a trick to set up with AiMesh

I bought this three pack to add new APs to an existing ASUS AiMesh system. Getting them to connect and play nice with the network was a little bit difficult, but here is what I found that works: First, connect the primary unit (the one with both LAN and WAN ports) and attach it to the existing router with an ethernet cable via the WAN port on the back of the primary unit. Power on the unit and make sure it is in setup mode (use the reset button on the bottom or do it on the first boot). At this point you should be able to connect it to your existing router with AiMesh (you might need the latest ASUS router firmware). Once your primary unit is attached to the AiMesh network, it will be your connection point for the two satellite units. These units will need to be attached to the primary unit with an ethernet cable that connects LAN ports on both units. When the satellite unit is in setup mode (again, use the reset button if needed), the AiMesh setup utility will detect the unit and add it to the network. You'll see that the AiMesh shows the daisychain connection in the network map. The satellite units will not connect to the AiMesh network on their own if connected directly to your existing router. They must first connect through the primary unit they came with as a box. Now that the satellite unit is detected and connected to the AiMesh network, you can power it down and connect it directly to the existing router (not the primary unit that comes in this package). Your existing router is running the AiMesh network and will recognize the satellite unit and connect even though it is no longer daisy chained through the primary unit. Repeat the process for the other satellite and you will have a great 4-point mesh network. Note that I didn't try to connect through wireless haulback for this process - only ethernet connections. YMMV for how this would work with a wireless mesh. These little guys work great as access points! Happy with the speed. I recently had a FaceTime call that moved through my whole house and I no longer have deadzones like before. Highly recommend.

I have a good sized 2 story home and our modem unfortunately is in a closet upstairs on one side of the house. So a large portion of our home had really spotty internet. Speed is good but range is terrible. We were originally advised to get an extender by one of our internet provider's techs but that did not work well. Another tech came out and said that extenders sacrifice speed for range (makes sense!). He suggested a mesh system. We went to Best Buy and were shown this product and it works great. Fairly easy to set up and I'm not very tech savvy. The range is fantastic and keeps speeds up. I work from home now so it's really important to have a strong and fast connection and this did the trick!

First mesh router and was skeptical on ease of install and would it work. Modem is in 2nd floor bedroom. For install just download app to iphone and follow directions in box, not hard at all. Spread routers, as suggested and wow. Routers are really small and easy to hide near outlets. Now we are getting almost 100 mbs download speed in vast majority of house, similar to wired speed from modem. Just do it and thank you to Best Buy customer service rep. who suggested in store this model for price.

Buying these was my 3rd attempt to get adequate wi-fi coverage for my home. Because of its large size and solid walls this was a continuing problem. I was surprised how the small units of the ASUS ZenWiFi solved all my problems. It was easy to set up using the phone app and the light indicator at each unit continues to be reassuring that all is running fine. Best of all, they are so small you hardly notice them and are easy to place around the house.

It was recommended by Best Buy associate as best selling item. It has a nice design and its of compact size but for me at least did not measure to the hype. Software needs much of updates and even after several attempts to upgrade firmware still not able to and everything crashes as well as setup removed. Several times would just die and go off and numerous resets were needed in 3 weeks of ownership. Speed and coverage does get improved but nowhere near as advertised. Parental controls are close to non existing very weak. Thinking of returning it back to best buy and buying other pro options available form other manufacturers. It went on sale after 15 days of owning it even though was told they don't go on sale often and 300bucks for set of 3 is best you will get. Even at 250 still don't think it a product worth investing if you are serious about your network and have smart home with 50plus devices.

This 3 pack, MESH WIFI is a great value. It is the most affordable three piece WIFI 6 mesh system available. With the APP, it is fast and easy to set up. We get a good, strong signal all over our medium sized two story house. At this price point there are a couple of compromises, It is not tri-band, the communication between units is not a separate band.. And there are only three extra ethernet ports for plug-ins. But it is stable, strong, and reasonably fast. If coverage is the problem, this upgrade may be the solution.

ZenWiFi AX Mini’s are great with wired backhaul!

I wanted AiMesh and was debating between two ASUS RT-AX82U routers or the Asus ZenWiFi AX Mini three-node system to cover a large 1 1/2 story 3-level house and 4 exterior Ring cameras. Either way, I’d be using gigabit wired backhaul since the house is wired with lots of CAT 5E and CAT 6). A BestBuy employee told me the ZenEiFi Mini’s would be the perfect solution. I was worried they wouldn’t have enough range. The BestBuy guy was 100% correct! The WiFi coverage has been awesome! We pay for 200 Mbps fiber internet and every corner of the house and all the outside cameras get at least 180-200 WiFi speeds. Could not be happier! And the BestBuy guy saved us about $150 with his recommendation! If you buy ASUS, my only suggestion is to ONLY use the Web interface when setting up the equipment - I used the iPhone app the first time and ended up with an unwanted Guest WiFi SSID broadcasting from some of the nodes, so I reset everything and used the Web interface for setup and everything worked perfectly! The iPhone app does work well for checking the network status, but I’ll use the Web GUI if I ever need to change settings, just to be safe. I have not tried these nodes using WiFi backhaul so I can’t comment on how well that would work, but wired backhaul is blazing fast! No regrets on this purchase! And way cheaper than renting Plumes for multiple years from our internet provider.

After buying netgear nighthawk router and extender still had spotty service throughout the house. Since purchasing this ASUS unit I have full coverage inside and outside up to 60 feet. This mesh system is easy to setup and use. The coverage is far superior to a regular router and extender. I would recommend this mesh system to anyone needing coverage, and it can be expanded. The app is simple and works well also.

2200sqft single story home so everything is spread out. Needed something that would transmit signal across the entire house and these mesh units do the job really well. I use 2 of them in the house, and the 3rd one is in my wife's office in an adjacent building 80ft away and she gets great signal in there coming from the house.

Great Wi-Fi 6 Mesh Router for a Good Price

I bought this because my Linksys 1900ACS router started having issues and I wanted to make the jump to a mesh system. I hadn't planned on getting a Wi-Fi 6 router but this one was a great price so I went ahead and tried it. It was an easy setup with the ASUS Router app on my phone. I set them up with all 3 in the same room first to get them connected and updated to the latest firmware. Then I moved 1 to our living room and 1 to the master bedroom with the other by the cable modem in a spare bedroom. Total setup from unboxing until the were in place was probably around 30-40 minutes with most of that being the firmware updates. It is probably overkill for our house that is less than 2,000 square feet, but it has had excellent performance from the initial setup to today, almost 3 weeks out. I haven't had any issues with lost connections or any internet issues. I haven't even had to reboot it yet. I was rebooting the Linksys router daily or more often. When our whole family is home we have 4 cell phones, 2 tablets and 3 TV's with streaming devices, with multiple of those devices streaming video at the same time. So far we haven't had any buffering or other issues with video. I highly recommend, especially to anyone wanting to make the jump to a mesh system from a single router.

I only write reviews when I am very enthusiastic about a product and this one is excellent. I tried the ORBI mesh network by Netgear and after spending 2 hours on the phone with their support, which was terrible, I gave up on it and bought this, which was my 2nd choice as it has 2 rather than 3 bands. This product took all of 20 minutes to install as a separate named SSID hotspot in my house and solved all of my issues with deadspots and dropped Zoom calls. The install wizard program in the iphone app was simple to use, clear as a bell and worked perfectly the first time I ran it. My 50 MBPS wired connection produced 25-38 MBPS WiFi signal all throughout my 3300 sqft home and well inot the backyard with the satellites distributed around the home. A 3 band set might yield a faster speed, but these units are tiny 3x3x3 cubes and setup so easily, and are half the price of the ORBI 3 channel set. Get it...you'll be as pleased as I am.

Bought this to replace a setup with 2 ASUS AC1200 routers in a 2600 sq/ft 2story house. Setup is pretty straight forward with the companion app. Coverage is improved, and no having to select which point to connect to. I like the ease of getting the units updated. Only knock is how much I had to dig to find the setting to turn UPnP off. Realistically that protocol should be turned off by default, since it is a security hole and not so commonly used anymore. Still, only a minor quibble. We have roughly 30 devices connected, and no hiccups on the network so far. This is worth looking at for the price. One other note, all my nodes are connected via Ethernet switches for backhaul. This leaves all the WiFi bandwidth for the devices. If you are going all wireless between the nodes,. You may want to look at a tri-band setup.

The Asus - Zen Wifi AX wasn't my first choice. I came across a review on the Google mesh system and thought the idea of having access points made sense. What I didn't understand was why a person would have to make multiple purchases. This led me to ASUS which I was happy about. For an affordable price and another access point... it was a no brainer. I was using a cable provider's wifi router which didn't give the best coverage. The cable provider wanted me to rent another piece of equipment to have coverage. This wasn't an acceptable resolution. The ASUS set up was very simple and I am able to manage the devices from the app. My home now has fully coverage and everyone can utilize the wifi regardless of whose workings. From school work, streaming or gaming; no issues.

This mesh network was a game-changer for our house. I had always disliked WiFi setups. We wall-dropped 2-4 Cat 6 cables in each room because of it. Unless you had line of sight to the router it was always spotty walking around the house, especially with multiple walls involved. This solved that and for the last 2+ years we have had much more reliable WiFi on our phones and tablets. This 3 device setup covers our 2400sq ft house (single story ranch) perfectly and speeds have been stellar throughout the house. Fairly easy to setup and phone app is solid.

This Asus mesh wifi system is very robust. We have had consistent, fast, and reliable connections to all of our devices. The set up was very straightforward and easy. The first day we had it, the nodes randomly disconnected. We had the cheapest and worst modem, and had similar problems with our previous router. Once we got a more powerful modem, this system worked flawlessly. We consistently stream in 4k, game online, and run several smart home devices, including security cameras. With this mesh system, we now have wifi all around our property, even in our detached garage. It is an expensive system, but you are paying for quality and reliable internet.
