I've had it for about 2 weeks now and have had zero issues with stability. I am getting wifi speeds of about 400 mbps throughout my house (about 2000 sqft but in a very elongated rectangular shape). For reference, my max WAN speed is about 450 mbps. I also have a USB flash drive connected to the main router which is acting as a home server. The router itself is very compact and attractive. It should blend in with most decor. The black variant is much sexier and I would have preferred that, but unfortunately BestBuy does not carry that version. Overall I am very satisfied with the product so far.

Easy to set up

Speed seems the same but getting dropped less than my old AC2900 router. They've gone down twice and had to be unplugged and restarted to work again. Bestbuy shipped quickly and did a good job of sending alerts.

ASUS ZenWiFi is nice!

We are going to purchase one extra extender for a workshop area, perfect that it allows this option all on one network.

Great features on paper but such poor quality

Corrupted file system. As I was unable to register the product on the ASUS web site I could not even get some help. The filesystem corruption led to random connectivity loss. Too bad and a real waste of money. Stay away from it!!!

Excellent product

Once set up, it was easy to connect my devices. I have found that my WiFi coverage on the first floor of our home to be excellent. Most noticeable, I connected my 4K OLED 65” screen using an Ethernet connection from the node and noticed an immediate increase in performance. My only disappointment is that the coverage really isn’t as good as detailed in the product description; my coverage on the second floor is fair, not good. Also disappointing, I want to purchase one more node to boost the second floor but that does not appear to be an option.

I had to return the item

Set up was not as easy as I thought it should be, but once I did get it up and running, the wifi system continually dropped my wifi. It literally would work for approx 30 seconds, then the LED would blink blue for a few minutes (which signaled the node was communicating with the main router) and then become a white light (system all good) for 30 seconds - nevertheless, never had a consistent connection, even after resetting the units several times.

Overpriced and buggy

The device is not "smart" and devices are constantly dropping. I have devices constantly trying to connect to the main unit in the basement Vs the mesh unit that is on the same floor MAYBE 10 feet away. I've tried adjusting db setting limits and even binding devices to AP I want yet the unit is constantly trying to switch items to the main unit with considerably weaker signal strength. Even when units stay on the closest/strongest AP they constantly lose connection and I have to either reboot the device or AP to get them back on. I've tested using the free Router Verizon gives and even on devices two floors away I get better connectivity then with this overpriced piece of junk I wish I would've discovered how bad this device is before I was out of my warranty period. And yes, I've updated the firmware, half the time the upgrades make things worse.

Nice specs but failed to deliver

The ability to have an ethernet backhaul with my MoCA is awesome and the reason why I initially purchased this unit. I had issues with my Sonos system, Chromecast, and dropped network during my two week period with this device. Setting up the device were also fincky because the app wouldn't connect to it reliably. I returned this and got an Orbi instead.

Great but ...

I had to return XT8 and went back to my Asus CT8 which works well with Nest thermostats!!! - App does not show online status of a device in real time. As an example, I powered off my iPad for couple minutes, app still shows it online. There is no option i.e. refresh devices status. Pros: - Web UI provides lots of options to configure router. - Good range coverage and speed

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had purchased this system to replace a linksys WRT / w Eero set as wireless AP when I decided I wanted to upgrade to Wifi 6 AX and wanted a USB port to set up a NAS on my local network using an external hdd. The set up was easy and fairly straight forward using the Asus app and using the hdd to share files on my network has worked well after figuring out how to set up the shares. So why the low stars? I have had constant disconnects from my IoT Kasa devices, my phone will randomly lose wifi connectivity and force me to restart the wifi to reconnect and my work laptop which runs through a Cisco client VPN slowed to a crawl and at times becomes almost unusable. None of these were a problem with my previous set up. I would consider myself fairly network savvy and have previously run many different routers using WRT & Tomato firmware but I've never had the issues I've had with these. I've always liked Asus routers prior to this set and even have an old RT-N16 sitting in a box somewhere. Unfortunately I waited to long while testing these and can no longer return them and at this price it's hard to just shelf them but I can't recommend anyone using them.
