This mesh router system lives up to the hype

Dare I say that this mesh system lives up to the hype? Yes, it does! I've been playing around with home networking for 20 years. In the last 5 years or so, I've tried a number of different mesh systems. Some were dual band and a few tri band. I've always run into a problems, however. Sometimes the setup was so simple, but the system just didn't deliver whether it was throughput or range. Some systems were just downright crap to set up and failed to stay connected or had devices just randomly drop off. I YouTube'd a lot of mesh wifi systems and the Asus XT9 would come up often and almost every review as positive. I couldn't tell what was accurate or truthful and so I decided to buy it myself and test it out. I have to say that the real world use is the best mesh wifi router I've ever set up. The only issue I had was upon the initial setup where the main router found new firmware and updated but the second node did not update to the newest firmware and the node disconnected. I had to reset the node and then it finally connected. The range is very good and I can get a decent signal almost 100 feet away from the main router outside my house. When inside my 2800 square foot house, I'm getting very close to my 300/300 speeds on wifi. The network hasn't disconnected and I have close to 50 devices connected. The app is very good and the web interface is great. So many ways to view all of the options this system has.

Bought these to replace the Xfinity wi-fi router. Currently pay for 1000MB internet. With the Xfinity wi-fi, I was getting about 500MB speeds. After upgrading to these, we are getting right around 900MB speeds over the wi-fi. This 1 floor away and two rooms over from the main router. These have been installed for several weeks now and the speeds have been much more consistent than the Xfinity wi-fi router.

This provided the perfect solution for our recent office expansion. Easy to install and ensures we have strong WiFi access everywhere we need it! Though I will also say I believe pairing it with our new router definitely helped as well.

This product is amazing. I was using Nest wifi pro and had nothing but trouble with connectivity. After a lot of research decided to go with this and not disappointed. Works amazing, have ethernet backhaul, inbuilt security with IPS. I strongly recommend this.

Was it a fast router? Yes it was. However, in my house which is a full smart home, light switches, light bulbs, Alexa’s, appliances etc. it cap’ed me around 60 devices. The ram was full and the router that was $400 was no good for me anymore. However I liked the fact that it was tri band so I was able supply phones and laptops to its own band, but it didn’t matter because I could not connect any more devices to the router. .

Above average mesh router with quick and easy set up. For larger spaces you definitely need more than advertised. Signal strength and reliability drop off significantly through walls and cupboards. Overlay though strong reliable connection for most users. If you are a power user I would look elsewhere.

    ASUS - ZenWiFi XT9 AX7800 Wi-Fi 6 Tri-band Mesh

It's wifi 6 -- not 6e or 7 -- but is more than fast enough for most everyone -- based on your internet speed plan. The best thing about ASUS routers is that they come with free lifetime security built in. With Netgear, for example, they want to sign you up to subscription protection. the XT9 is easy to set up and administer. The coverage is outstanding. Has 3 bands - 2.4, 5, and 6. Dedicated back haul can be configured. With "mesh", the same SSID (broadcast name) is broadcast so your devices are mobile in the coverage area. Wifi extenders broadcast a different SSID. This is the second set of ASUS routers that I've purchased. Very satisfied customer. Highly rated by independent testing labs
