    Our home has the "old style wall phone jack" and this works perfectly. There is no need for electricity, install the batteries and just plug it in the wall jack. The ringer is loud enough to be heard in our busy kitchen with the whole family present. This is a basic phone and that is all we wanted.

    Like the phone except for one drawback---should have better lighting to review call number before answering. Have contrast at the highest number, but still very light. Would help if it actually lighted up when the phone rings.
