The phone saga
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.my son took my card to buy me a phone as one of mine wasn't working well. He is a grown man but brought back wall phone with cord. He went to purchase it when he was here to see us because of illness and then he went home (out of state). By the time I got to returning it, I was told it was too late, and I could not even get credit because the top of the box was opened. Nothing taken out. I asked to see a manager and waited but I am still not feeling well so gave up. The phone has been given to Bootstraps. Only $19.99 so I guess I have to pay it off on my card. No happy

Wow... Phone quality has taken a nosedive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I realize landlines are going the way of the dinosaurs in this cellular, VOIP and social media new world. However, I didn't think I'd get a stinker this bad when searching for a simple wall phone with caller ID. This thing is terrible. First, although it's wall mountable, they provide no short wall cord in the box. You have to wrap the single long cord around plastic tabs recessed in the body to wall mount. Next, no backlight. The thing uses four AA batteries (not included, of course) but doesn't have a backlight. The LCD is hard to read in anything other than optimal light. Next, sound quality is abysmal. I heard not one, not two but at least three different variations of noise on the line. One was random static, another was a constant high pitched whining sound and another was a recurring warbling sound whenever the person on the other end spoke. I'm going to take this stinker back and try one more time before giving up on it completely. As bad as this phone is, I'm assuming it absolutely must be defective. If the second one is any better, I will update this review in fairness. If you're reading this line, it means this is still the original review and the second phone was just as bad as the first.

how can a basic cord phone go wrong??
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this phone because I noticed in a horrible storm we were having that our landline (simple corded phone) didn't work. No big deal, these are cheap, but everyone should have a landline in case of power outages!! anyway, these phones are obviously basic and similar (or so I thought) this one was $17, all other corded phones seem to run around $10, but I was in a hurry. When I got home to set it up the sticker I removed from the caller id left a residue that not only could not come off but glazed over the screen. not a big deal, but it was an eyesore. The phone cord did not fit well to be mounted within the housing. Another pain, another eyesore. I left the phone plugged in (we were/are having many storms & power outages) and I was startled by the ringer...SOOOOOOO LOUD. adjustable, but not much. The ONE and only time I had to use the phone (storm 3 week 2) no power, I run downstairs happy for not returning it only to find it didn't work. No dial tone, nothing. ***RETURNED*** there was not one single redeeming quality about this phone, please trust me...if you are looking for an emergency phone, do NOT take a chance on this one!!!

Cheaper than I remember
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Background: my wife bought two of these phones so we would always know where one is (our cordless phones get left all over the place by our kids, making it hard to answer a call before the answering machine picks up). So the only thing that is good about this phone is that it is physically wired into an outlet. Now the bad things: the cord is to short to really be useable. The phone is ultra light, which makes it not seat correctly frequently (when these phones are not all the way hung up, it not only doesn't allow you to receive calls on the wired phone but all phones on that line - this need to ensure phones being hung up properly is from a past era that a lot of people aren't currently used to). The buttons don't diall consistently. The caller ID doesn't work. I wouldn't have bought these.

Unuseable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When holding phone by your ear, the on/off button is so close to the edge that you'll inadvertently touch it with the ear and disconnect your call. It is positively unusable. Unfortunately I threw away the box the day I bought it not expecting to have any trouble with the simplest of phones.

You get what you pay for.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the phone to avoid unwanted robocalls by use of caller I'd. That works. But the screen is not illuminated and the text is so small that cannot see who the caller is unless you pick up the entire phone and hold it in front of you. Very poor design.

I think they lied on the box!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I looked at this thing in the store I thought it said it had a back-lit caller-id panel and keypad. I am unable to verify that now because I threw the box away. Bummer. Anyway,THERE IS NO BACK LIGHT!! Anywhere. Flimsy. You get what you pay for I guess.

Didn't work
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best Buy dropped the ball on this one. Item had been returned & put back on the shelf for purchase with no coil cord and inoperable. Because I was a day behind returning the item, they would neither replace or return the item.

Bad Phone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this phone was a bad purchase. It would disconnect when it was answered because the on/off button is in a very bad place. I returned it, and BB gave me a bad time returning it. After complaining they did take it back.

Static
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The phone was purchased as a replacement, so I know the outlet works correctly. The phone rings, however all you hear is static. It does not work on any outlet. It is of no use to us and money wasted.

Poor quality
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted a land-line for power outages. This phone squealed when I picked up the receiver, and was so light-weight the base fell off the table when picking up the receiver. I returned to the store.

You get what you pay for
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not a happy phone. Too light so you can pull it all over the place when you answer it. Big button on back of handset will cut you off so you have to be very careful handling.

Did Not Work As A Wall Mount
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The phone did not function as a wall mount. The handset would not stay in the base. Otherwise, it was a good phone at a good price. I just needed it to work as a wall mount.

EASE of programing is non existent.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Would be a great phone, however it does not allow you program in a number from the ID. It asks for you to program in your "local" area code. If you try to punch in your family member's number from their caller ID, it won't dial it. It will LEAVE THE AREA CODE OFF IT and thereby the call won't go through as it leaves out three numbers needed for the call to be valid. I just don't understand that concept but can only describe it as typical of AT&T. A%% backwards! I would never buy it again. I'm stuck with them now. Not worth the shipping expense to send them all back.
