    overpriced for such lightweight construction

Based on prior reviews, this sounded like a decent product that might be a useful addition. Either the product quality has changed since the initial reviews, or it varies at different locations. Assembly was easy but I recommend the following during the initial assembly of the sides & the stationary shelf -- insert the back to line up either the top or bottom for the sides. Otherwise you run the risk of the sides not being properly lined up (at a 90 degree angle from the shelf) and driving the initial screws in lopsided for the stationary shelf. During the screw driving the screws should only be screwed flush with the particle board as there is nothing covering the screws and if driven too deep, they will leave pockmarks in the finished product. I ended up with small gaps between the joints in an effort to prevent over-driving the screws. After the product was assembled it had a minor wobble which became more pronounced after the unit was loaded. When loading the product with media (PS3 games, DVD & Blue Ray Disks) , I found the movable shelves bent under the weight of the very media the product was designed to hold. As it included 4 small shelves, I was able to double them for the DVD configuration and add stability and solve the bends. The movable shelves (2 stacked = 3/4 inch) are 2/3rd the height of the stationary shelf (1/2 inch) which does not have the bending issue. Capacity was Ok and met the stated expectations. I actually got a few more disks as the PS3 / Blue Ray are a bit smaller than DVD and the height of the shelves looks like it will also allow for VHS tapes. The price ($30) and the quality is horrendous compared to a $16 bookshelf (which is infinitely sturdier, but a more basic rectangular design) that I purchased at the local Wal-Mart and will hold more. Given the wobbly /poor constructed nature of this product, I expect it will end up in the dumpster in 5-6 months (if not sooner) even with light use. I went back to Wal-Mart and grabbed another 3 shelf bookshelf which I intend to use for books and to hold more media as I will not waste another $30 on a product which seems barely passable for the purpose which it was designed. The last bookcase has survived 18 months thus far and shows no signs of wobble. The back for the bookcase is tacked into place versus slid into grooves in the side boards like this product does.

A Great Unit For Game Cartridges (And More)

As I was putting together this storage unit, I was regretting my purchase. Not because it was difficult to assemble – it was a breeze, actually – but because the edges of the particle board appeared to be in rough shape, and I was worried that those imperfections would be visible once the unit was together. Fortunately, those slightly frayed edges are almost completely obscured once everything is snugly in place. I'm typically a picky person, especially when it comes to cosmetics and organization, but I have to admit, I'm very, very happy with this Atlantic product. I bought mine with the intention of housing my N64 collection, and it fulfills that purpose wonderfully. I like it enough that I've just purchased another for my Dreamcast, 3DS, and SNES games. When the shelves are adjusted to CD height, which gives you six usable shelves, it's almost as if this unit was made specifically to hold cartridges. NES cartridges, in particular, look spectacular on the shelves, as they fill the available space in a flush, clean manner. If you're looking for something to hold your loose cartridges or jewel-cased games, this a good way to go. It's sturdy, clean-looking, and highly affordable.

Great use of space for CDs, poor quality

As many others have stated, this unit is indeed a bit flimsy, although not to the point where I think it would fall apart or anything. I'm torn between being impressed by the perfect design & storage capacity for CDs, and the build quality. I wish they made this same design but with some reinforcements. In my opinion, in comparison to other similar units which I've tried, for the price it's worth it, if you need to fit a huge CD collection in a small space. I think a few extra bucks for some angle brackets & small screws to reinforce certain areas might make this a perfect little CD rack. Tough to decide whether or not to recommend but I went with NO. I suspect that I got a unit which had been returned previously, as there was no wall anchor kit/bracket included and some slight damage to the backing board. Assembly was quick and easy. In fact, way too easy. I would much rather have more steps, more parts and end up with a sturdier unit. I'm including a picture of the rack full of CDs, as it seems every picture of this item on the web has one shelf removed.

The rack looks nice but is made of very thin pressed particle board with extra flimsy shelves that will surely sag within a year or two. This is a short term solution for me so it's not a big deal, but others may want to look for something built a bit better. I have older media racks (circa 2002, 2003) that are made from much stronger mdf pressed wood that have held up perfectly over the years. Unfortunately these type of units are hard to find as many newer versions (of the same brand) are built completely different with short sides that don't cover the width of a movie and flimsy shelves that sag. ***note about shipping** I will likely not order anything from best buy.com going forward as they made this a signature required delivery item without any indication and subsequently it was attempted to be delivered while we were at work. Only one attempt was made and it was dropped off at a UPS location 3 miles away (a location is .5 miles away). Very inconvenient since I have ordered items costing well over $100 that were left at the doorstep. Also every item that I have ordered from bby.com has always given a delivery date, only to have it be "delayed" by at least a day. I will simply stick to Amazon in the future for online orders.

Saw this online last night, just needed a small, inexpensive black DVD case to sit along the wall near my home theater, and I didn't need some giant , wall-dominating, or grandiose solid-wood $150+ conversation piece. I wanted something short (under 3ft) but with decent capacity. This looked great online, and so I went down today to get it from the store. It's made of 1/2 inch particle board with a black-wood gerain veneer, but don't let that intimidate you - it is very sturdy and solid once assembled. Speaking of assembly - 5 minutes, with just a phillips screwdriver. 5 minutes after that it was loaded with DVDs in its new home, and I am loving it!

Not going to go into great detail on this unit, but I own two of it. Purchased them about a year apart. No one can say a thing about the space of the unit. It states that it can hold up to 108 DVDs. That's completely accurate. I've got 27 on each of the 4 shelves. If I really wanted, I could cram a 28th. These units are incredibly easy to assemble. Took me less than 10 minutes each. If you're not familiar with furniture construction, it might take 20-30 minutes. It might not be the sturdiest structure in the world, but it's also only $32. Pay the money for a solid wood unit if you're after elegance and high durability. My first one has worked fine for nearly 2 years. Bought two of them and I'm likely to pick up a few more in the future if my collection keeps growing like it does. I've got 5 different media racks and it's my favorite so far.

This shelf is OK. It’s about what I was expecting, an inexpensive low-quality shelf. It was reasonably easy to assemble and the instructions were adequate. The pieces are not actually boards or plywood, they are particle board so if it experiences any moisture it’s like to fall apart. Some of the pilot holes for the screws were slightly off-center so it’s not the sturdiest thing and the participle board is partially split where the pilot holes are. I’m planning on using it as a template to make my own out of some plywood. Then I’ll just use the hardware to hang the shelves. It’s your basic cheap shelf. I wouldn’;t try moving it loaded with DVDs. It would definitely fall apart. if I were to change something, I would make the shelves themselves about half an inch deeper.

I needed a media stand to hold video games, so we could keep the clutter to a minimum. I had very little space in the game room and this stand fit perfectly. The shelf dimensions are perfect for games and DVD cases, but you can only use 2 of the 4 adjustable shelves if you use it just for that. That still gives you 4 shelves of storage, which will fit a lot of DVDs! The package is small enough to fit in the trunk of most any car, and the construction is simple with easy to follow directions and minimum tools required. I was pleased with how sturdy the case was once it was completed, which only took 15 minutes, and how nice it looks. I would definitely recommend this media center for small spaces, or as an additional accent piece.

    Nice size but flimsy

I bought this product instead of "better/cheaper" ones because of the size; I have a "built-in" shelf, if you will, in my bedroom that's just a little over 9 inches deep. Most DVD storage units in stores are over 10 or 11 inches, so they don't work for my intended use. This shelf is slim, only a little deeper than a standard BluRay case. In that respect, it's perfect. However, the movable shelves are really low quality and don't support much weight. I don't have many BR discs so it's something I can work around. I ended up putting my heavier BR sets (the TV seasons) on the fixed shelf, which is thicker/sturdier than the movable shelves and they seem to be okay, but down the line I think I'm going to go to the hardware store and make some custom movable shelves instead.

While the construction of this media cabinet is not exceptional, it does end up being an effective storage solution. The tower is built out of the usual cheap pressed wood pulp, though it should have no trouble holding up to your media collection. The assembly is easy and only required about five minutes. The pieces are labeled and the instructions are clear, but the tower can be assembled without even opening them. The tower is held together by a combination of wooden dowels and screws. I was initially worried about stability, but was thankfully proven wrong. After all of the parts are together, the tower's wide base makes it stable even on carpet. After installing the screws, there are no plastic caps or stickers to hide the screw holes. The screws finish is black making it harder to spot the holes, but they are noticeable if that bothers you.

Now i don't usually write reviews because honestly i can't be bothered, but i liked the cabinet so much that i just had to tell the world! (lol) This product had me smiling from ear to ear this morning after having just put it up! I love it, it does exactly what i had intended it to do. The black finish is sexy and it is very sturdy, even on the carpet. I might just go pick up another because at $20! you cant beat it. Oh yeah and i noticed some people said the backboard was flimsy, either Atlantic changed the material since those people did their review or they were being too harsh because the board isn't as flimsy as they make it out to be. Yeah its made out of cardboard but its sturdy and fits in perfectly. I would have a tough time breaking it!!

This stand is normally 30 bucks and best buy had it for 20 on sale,so i then used a 15.00 reward certificate to get my stand for 5 bucks! Its a steal at that price but even at 20 bucks i feel like it would have been worth it.Im a bargain hunter and never pay full price for anything so for 30 bucks i woulda left it at the store. It does work quite well to hold dvds and blu rays but im not sure about cds as i havent tried to store any in this stand. All of these stands under 100 bucks are not made of solid wood, most all of them are made with pressed together junk particle board so dont expect a stand made outta oak for this price range. With that being said this is a nice stand worth the money if you can take care of things,if youre ruff with your things this will probably not hold up long.I hope my review help you to make the right decision.

Ordered this today because i needed something to store my manga in. Very easy to put together and it looks nice and its sturdy. Thats the plus's. Now the con which does not really have anything to do with bestbuy itself. The instructions are redulicious. Things like put c between a & b plaques, but none of the plaques are numbered or have letters on them. So you kind of have to figure that one out yourself. Its smaller then i thought, but i am still ok wiht it for what i need. I got this today on deal of the day for $20.00 which honestly is the most i would pay for this thing. Normally its $50.00 but that is wayyyyy over priced for something liek this. Its not even real wood, lol. over all i am happy wiht it. If you can get it for 20.00 its great for a decent amound of games/movies/books.

    Low detail directions

I bought this product on 11/27/10 mainly because the price and the previous customer reviews. Let me start by me wondering how many ppl were confused by the fact there is no actual wording directions just pictures. I mean it doesnt take a genius by knowing the wood pegs are for assembly and the metal are for the adjustable shelves but it might be good to know for that small percentage of ppl out there. Second, let me explain my 4 star. The second wording in the "whats included" list says.. Wall Anchor kit. Either mine got left out or they are confused. I bought this purposely to hang has a nice wall mounted piece and found myself nailing small brackets to the back to hang it. Even after doing my own adjustment I do recommend this product to anybody looking for a a cabinet thats great quality for a great price.

Great product at a very reasonable price! Wanted a small dvd storage unit for bedroom, & this is the perfect solution to my needs. Holds all the dvd's that it claims to hold, unit is very attractive, & it does not over-power the room. Perhaps the biggest surprise (next to how speedily it arrived at my house) was the ease of assembly! Another reviewer had stated that it took only 15 minutes and a phillip's screwdriver. As I read that, I thought, maybe for YOU, but I'm a woman, & assembling furniture isn't my strong suit, nor do I enjoy it one bit! To my happy surprise, it was just that easy & quick to assemble! I'd recommend this product to everyone!

I was hoping to get something bigger. Other reviewers said this thing was flimsy, and that it was smaller than it looked. They are wrong, its not flimsy (well any flimsier than any other cheap Swedish shelf), but it's picture is extremely misleading. I guess they took that picture in a hobbit hole. seriously, its that small. I thought I was getting something that was as wide as a small coffee table, and as tall as my desk....well, my desk is taller. So just a warning, the picture is not proportional to its actual size. Other than that, it appears very well built (for MDF and Cardboard). For the $35 (after taxes), I think I'd been better off getting a Mainstays shelf from Wal-Mart

I bought this to put in my new theater/game room to put some extra movies and games lying around. This worked perfect! Everything fit perfectly! I was actually thinking of ordering another one to add any new movies I should buy in the future. It is easy to build and doesn't take long. Well made as well. Definitely recommend it. I will say this though... It sure does look bigger in the photo. It ends up being about belt height. I had boughten one (what I thought was this one) this same brand a couple years ago and that one still looks the same as when I bought it. That one is a bit taller being top ab height. This one still holds a great amount of movies/games, though.

I've been looking for a shelf to store my blu-rays and finally found this one. I've tried out other before but they sometimes have wasted space and are big for no reason. This shelf is perfect in every way. It's sturdy, inexpensive, and looks great. There's barely an inch of negative space between shelves which is great. Highly recommend this for any small collector of blu-ray or dvd.

This item arrived on time and in perfect condition. It is very easy to assemble and took less than 20 minutes. The shelves are adjustable and I am able to get more disc than I expected. If I only put in blu ray disc no digi covers I am able to get 34 per shelf. That would be 136 disc. I mix regular blu rays, steelbooks, metalpaks and occasional SACD disc. The shelf is stable and I liked it so much I bought a second one and have stacked one on top of the other. I highly recommend it.

I bought this solely to store my CDs. It's easy to assemble and I'm very confident in the strength it seems to have. My only complaint is that the shelf spacing (when used completely for CDs) leaves no room for CD cases that are just slightly too large. For instance, the "10,000 Days" album by Tool has fantastic packaging (for the album art) that makes it slightly bigger than the standard case. It won't fit completely vertically into the shelf, which causes some issues with the rest of the CDs in the row. It's a very minor and specific complaint but if you happen to have multiple discs that are somewhat unconventionally large it will be a bother.
