I own three pairs of headphones, and all of them are Audio-Technica. The DSR7BT is the latest pair I purchased simply because the other two are of the same brand and I do like them a lot. So when shopping for a full size cans I looked no further.

    Amazing Sound Quality

I want to start by saying, the sound quality of these headphones is amazing. Music and audio is crystal clear, I mean so much so that in side by side comparison with other high end headphones, I’m hearing things on the ATH-DSR7BT in much more detail. They remind me of studio quality reference headphones. The fact that these headphones contain no internal DAC due to the exclusive Pure Digital Drive system (that keeps the signal 100% digital from source to output) really stands out here. When you first unbox them, you’ll notice how light they are, but feel very sturdy and well built. The headband is not as wide as comparable headphones, and at first I thought I would notice this while wearing, but I actually don’t notice the headband at all, so maybe the narrower the better, and it definitely helps the overall weight remain low. The ear cups are nice and large and fit comfortably over the ear. The ear cups are foam padded with memory foam and allowed me to wear these for hours at a time and never feel ear fatigue. All the controls are located on the ear cups for power, volume, Bluetooth and NFC, mic and LED statuses, etc. Battery life is stated at about 15 hours on a full charge and I would say that’s fairly accurate in my usage as well. The drivers are 45 MM “True Motion Drivers” that reproduce very clear highs, solid mids and very tight bass. Now the spec sheet shows the frequency range on these to be 5 – 40,000 Hz, so I was very excited to see how they handled very bass heavy audio. While they do a great job of handling the bass, no distortion at all even at loud volumes, the bass does seem sort of sterile and very tight. Like I mentioned earlier, they are almost reference style in sound, never letting the bottom end truly breathe. Sound is consistent across the entire spectrum, but I would have loved if these could have allowed for a more “boomy” bottom end feel. In my comparison tests with other similar range headphones, the ATH-DSR7BT just lacked a little bit of the bottom end that I think customers would want to hear out of headphones like these. I was using both a flat EQ and a very Bass heavy EQ setting. This might be a case where having no internal DAC is a drawback? Not sure, maybe more for an audio engineer to discuss, haha. Low end is nice and tight, just not enough of it for my taste, these leave me wanting more bass. Maybe an update to 50 MM drivers would help. Another great feature is the ability to support Qualcomm aptX HD, aptX, AAC and SBC codecs, enabling wireless transmission with a resolution up to 24-bit/48kHz. If you consistently source your audio with an HD resolution, these will shine. The internal mic is great for telephone calls, and the simply tap gestures for answering and ending calls is very nice and easy. This pair also come with a very nice carrying case.

Opening the box and inspecting these headphones was a nice surprise. Very nice packaging that looks very impressive. However the leather carrying case seemed kind of silly for a $300 pair of headphones. Why not throw in a harder case. I've never spent this much on a pair of headphones, but if I did I wouldn't trust them to a leather sack when carrying them around. The headset seems well built combining plastic and metal like most headphones, and is comfortable on my head but my wife tried them on and said they were tight on the top of her head, so try them out for a few minutes before you buy. I connected easily with my iphone and had no issues with connection while my iphone was in my pocket. Once I got around 25-30 feet, I had some connectivity issues as I expected. After an initial charge, the battery has been going strong thru multiple listening sessions of around a total of 13 hours, with an advertised 15 hour battery life. Let's start with the sound. Excellent. I'm not an audiophile by any means, but this headset sounds great. Bass sounds good but not overpowering like some other headphones. The sound is super crisp and powerful and that was just using spotify thru my iphone, I'm guessing if you had some higher quality audio source it would be even better. While they are not noise cancelling once I turned them up to around the mid-point in volume, I couldn't hear a television or people around me...pretty sweet. The built in mic allows you to answer calls as well, which I think is standard these days. When I used them to place a call 2 of 3 people said the call sounded great but one said that they could hear something in the background. If I'm being honest, the controls are weird to me. I had to look thru the instruction manual in order to figure it out. The whole touch sensitive play pause button sometimes gets activated while trying to find the volume up down/ song skip feature. I'm finally getting used to it and I guess it's not that bad but I really think they could've thought of a better way to approach this. All in all this headset is extremely impressive. The sound, build quality and comfort level from these are top notch. I'm only giving it 4 stars because the lack of a "real" carrying case and the wonky controls they decided to add to these.

I really like this bluetooth headset. They sound great and are very comfortable. It was a cinch to pair. I tried pairing them to an older bluetooth connection and it had a staticy sound to them. So make sure that your bluetooth device is current. The mic is pretty descent and I didn't have any problems talking on the phone but I don't think it has noise cancellation. The battery charge lasts about 15 or so hours. It comes with its own USB cable for recharging as well as a carrying pouch. Overall, good tone, not too heavy, but can be a little hot to wear due to the leather over the ear enclosure.

    Great Sound Quality with Flaws

PROS . Excellent sound quality when playing lossless compression music wired or wireless. . Extremely easy set up using Bluetooth/NFC or included USB cable . Excellent mic for phone calls CONS . Volume button not intuitive although you quickly get used to it . The included USB cable is the only one that works with the headphones. If you lose it, it seems you need to get a new one from Audio-Technica. . Bluetooth connectivity range is poor. . No active noise cancellation . No protective case. Instead they give you a fabric pouch Being an audiophile and somewhat hard to please when it comes to Bluetooth headphones or speakers, I was skeptical about Audio Technica ATH-DSR7BT. I wanted to be fair, so I downloaded a music with lossless compression to my PC after connecting the headphones using the included USB cable. I was very pleased with the quality which is what I would expect from wired quality headphoness. I then paired it to my PC Bluetooth and hardly could tell the difference. That was a nice an unexpected surprise because I had tried relatively good ones before but was not as happy as I was with the ATH-DSR7B. To achieve that, Audio-Technica uses their Pure Digital Drive system which keeps the audio signal digital without ever converting to analog. Phone calls worked really well too. I could hear the other person clearly and equally important was that they could hear me flawlessly as well. One thing that I missed was Active Noise Cancelling. Yes, that's a feature that usually affects the sound quality of any headphones when turned on but it would be nice to have that option for those moments that even the best music won't distract you from external noises. Also, for me these headphones were not very comfortable, just OK. They worked very well with my iPhone 7 Plus as long as I had the phone with me all the time because it loses connectivity easily if it is not in the same room as you. And even in the same room, it breaks up too frequently. I am still trying to get used to the touch button used to play, pause, forward. In my opinion, it was not well thought out. As you can see, I had a mix of great and poor experience. While I was extremely satisfied with the quality, especially when wired or with the phone in my pocket, I was disappointed with its losing connectivity a little too easily and for not having a noise canceling option. Not bad but I am not sure I would recommend it over high end models from competitors.

First impressions of these headphones while unpacking them are just wow! The packaging is very impressive and screams quality. The next thing is setup which is incredibly easy to connect to any and every device you could ever want to use with these with the exception of my xbox 1 or ps4 which I really wish was an option. However these work fantastic for computer gaming which is what I wanted a high quality set of wireless headphones for and these deliver exceptionally well. The sound is phenomenal and very precise with the exception of the bass which is sufficient but will be lacking for some. To me they sound perfect but that will be different for each individual depending on your particular tastes. The last pro I'd say is both that finally companies are coming out with digital products to play digital media and the battery life which is plenty for most people. I'm sure that there are still going to be a few that won't be happy with around 15 hour's of battery but that is why they put enough thought into this product to let you use it while tethered to a usb connection so that you don't have to stop that marathon gaming session us old farts can't stay awake to do anymore or we are just smart enough to know when it's time to quit, I'll let you all decide which. The only con that I have found so far is the same that every other reviewer has stated about the buttons being challenging at the very least but I'm not going to continue harping on it, just had to put the cons up here to let you know that these aren't perfect and I doubt you will ever find any products that are completely perfect. With that said, I do highly recommend these digital wireless headphones and I hope they last as long as my Sennhieser HD 280 Pro's which I truly love but i believe that these wireless Audio-Technica's have just taken over as my new favorite headphones!

The new Audio Technica ATH-DSR7BT headphones not just sound amazing but look amazing on you as well. They are extremely easy to set up as well and connect easily with any blue tooth device. The buttons and controls are extremely intuitive and you can understand all the controls and functions in less than a minute. I know there's always talk about a new pair of headphones letting you hear things in songs you didn't know about, but I cannot stress enough how great this was. How clear and distinct I was able to hear the fading notes of a guitar was just amazing. The new Pure Digital Drive system that eliminates the need to process and transform the audio signal as it goes from the source up and into the drivers of the headphone. This, according to Audio-Technica, should drastically reduce the risk of distortion when you're listening via Bluetooth. All of this only works because the DSR7BTs use a four-wire voice coil paired with a driver that has a 45mm diaphragm coated with diamond-like carbon for improved audio fidelity. In layman's terms, Audio-Technica has reimagined how the mechanics of a pair of headphones function in order to make them sound as impressive as possible. Other than the internals, the DSR7BTs feature the typical accouterments of a high-end pair of headphones. Plush, comfortable padding and a claimed 15-hours of battery that make a daylong session of Queen's greatest hits a real possibility. There's also a built-in mic and controls for answering calls and handling volume or playback options. They are bit pricey but its a solid investment!

These Audio-Technica ATH-DSR7BT wireless headphones are the most expensive I've ever owned so I must say I was expecting an unparalleled experience. For a product in this price range I was initially disappointed by the packaging which was nothing remotely remarkable. Not a big deal. So what was within? The headphones themselves are nicely designed with what I would describe as an understated elegance which verges somewhat on the boring. The build quality seems ok with nicely padded ear pads and headband. The padding material definitely has a quality feel to it. I still have the expectation that in this price range that overall build quality would be better. The headphones are easily adjustable as you slip them on. They really are exceptionally comfortable. After even wearing for hours of listening I experienced little fatigue from discomfort. But what about the sound? I was certainly intrigued to experience the audio with a pure digital driver and a frequency response of 5Hz - 40kHz. To power them on there is a sliding power switch. Connecting to Bluetooth was easy. I took these Audio-Technica headphones on a musical journey. From classical to jazz to pop. I must say that all my favorites from each genre sounded somehow new with an aural nuance that I hadn't experienced with other headphones. Bass reproduction is natural unlike cheaper headphones which exaggerate the bass to make up for their poor audio. Some will inevitably find this an area for complaint. Overall a truly enjoyable listening experience except for some critical design flaws in usability. The volume control and touch sensitive pause button are incredibly frustrating to use. What were they thinking when they designed these unintuitive controls? The volume control also doubles as the way to select the next or previous track. The sensitivity of which is maddening so repeatedly I have wanted to turn up the sound but instead advance to the next track. Grrrr. I hate the overall placement of controls too. The touch pause button is stupidly located adjacent to the volume so inevitably you'll pause while searching for the poorly located controls. Now over time I have somewhat gotten accustomed to this but find myself still fumbling with the controls. Frustration is an unfortunate attribute of what otherwise is a great product.

I never thought sound from my Iphone via bluetooth could sound so full. These are truly something special. Finally something other than beats. Best part is the battery is nearly 15hrs which for me is about a week between charges. Very comfortable. Cons: More fun color choices would be nice and the base can be a bit much at times. Cost is high.

Audio-Technica does not disappoint with these BT wireless headphones. The feel is comfortable and not too heavy during prolonged use. The battery lasts several days in my heavy commuting schedule. Getting acclimated to the button configuration takes a little time, and the touchpad button for playback function was at first somewhat a drawback. I've gotten used to it. The range is decent, having tested it to around 30 ft. before losing some connectivity to the play source. The headset comes with a storage pouch (if you're into that), they are very durable, and the ears swivel for DJ style use or for flat storage (though I prefer a fold storage personally). Sound quality is amazing, with a very full, rich, immersive sound in my tests ranging from classical, to electronica, pop to heavy-bass hip-hop, guitar-heavy alternative to podcasts. These headphones handled all genres beautifully. Sound quality was never going to be the issue with these headphones. Overall, the Audio-Technica DSR7BT lives up to its brand name, delivering high quality sound and durable, fashionable aesthetics for the serious audiophile. Worth it. Full disclosure, I received this product for my unbiased, honest review.

The Audio-Technica - ATH-DSR7BT Wireless Over-the-Ear Headphones - Black was simple to pair with my LG cell phone. I went to System and then Bluetooth and tapped on ATH-DSR7BT and the connection was immediate with a beeping sound to acknowledge the connection. The digital stereo sound is pure and lets you hear each instrument clearly as if you were in a room filled with surrond sound. Though, I wish the volume could be a little more louder than it is. The volume control can also move the music tracks forward or backwards. The phone reception works as most phone receiving through bluetooth does, but the volume is not as loud as I would like. The three lights on the left side of the headset give indication of battery strength and make you aware of when the battery is fully charged or depleted of energy. The earpads are soft and cormfortable and cover the ears fully, sealing out all external sounds. The problems that I find with the Audio-Technica - ATH-DSR7BT Wireless Over-the-Ear Headphones are the weakend signal strength when I leave the room where my phone is located and travel to other rooms in the apartment. The signal breaks up continuously and sometimes justs cuts off. Also, when walking outside with my phone in my back pocket, the signal breaks up and becomes excessively a sound of static. It seems as though you must remain still in order for the headset to work at its optimum effeciency.

Being used to over the ear earbuds, these headphones where a new experience for me. The build quality is solid, durable, and comfortable. Well padded ear pads and headband allow for long listening sessions without fatigue and/or discomfort. The sound quality was very good throughout the listening sessions. The headphones performed well whether listening to classical, rock, pop, etc. Streamed television episodes and videos were reproduced accurately as well. These headphones also connected easily via Bluetooth to my IPad Air and smartphone. Overall, I enjoyed these headphones for their build quality, comfort, and sound quality.

I really like the sound and looks of these headphones, but for the price, there are a couple of things I would have expected. -controls are difficult and not easy to access -charging port is weird; even though its micro usb, my other cables wouldn't fit -hard case would have been much better, instead of a soft, un protective "pouch" Bluetooth worked great, paired easily to all my devices, and connecting to my win 10 computer was a breeze Here again, they are nice, and sound great, but, for this price, there should have been some changes made before releasing them..

For this review I will be comparing it to my Sony MDR-1000 headphones which are slightly more expensive. Not many people know Sony happens to be one of the best headphone producer. Don't believe me? Ever heard of the Sony MDR-R10? These are discontinued and even now are regarded as one of the BEST headphones ever made. With a USED price tag of $2500, they should be. Anyways back to these Audio-Technica - ATH-DSR7BT. These headphones sound great, the 45mm drivers do a great job recreating rich sounds. For comparison my more expensive MDR-1000 only came with 40mm drivers. The controls on the Audio Technica ATH-DSR7BT are easy to use and remember when they're on your ears and you want to change to the next or previous track or even higher/lower the volume. These headphones also have a mic so you can easily take calls. Another good thing about these the construction and anesthetics are beautiful, the body housing the drivers are full aluminum and are very sleek and beautifully crafted. One more positive for these earphones are the comfort. They were really comfortable to wear for a long period of time. One thing I must note though, is that these are not noise cancelling but this is also reflected in the reasonable price. Noise cancelling does do a good job especially if you're in a noise surrounding, like a plane. One con I must say, this might not be the headphone's fault but the bluetooth range was not so good. However I must say it could be my 2016 Macbook Pro's issue. When i used these with my phone I did not have any trouble with the range. Overall, I'd recommend these headphones.

    True Hi-Res (Studio Quality) Sound!

I’ve been using the ATH-DSR7BT headphones for a few days now and am really impressed. The headphones came neatly packed with an easy to read user manual and instructions on how to adjust your computer’s sound settings to allow for Hi-Res (Studio Quality) audio. The headphones are extremely comfortable and adjust to fit me perfectly. The material used is very soft and seems quite strong. Overall the build of these headphones looks very durable and should be able to last many years with normal wear and tear. The design is fairly intuitive and easy to use but does take some getting used to for the touch sensitive control pad/button. The power switch is on one side leaving the usb port, volume control and touch pad on the other side. The touch pad and volume controls are right next to each other so you will find yourself pausing the audio occasionally while trying to adjust the volume. I did this a lot the first day, a few times the next day and only once today. As I said, you just have to get used to the button placement. I like the NFC feature allowing you to tap your device to the log to connect. I also really like that these headphones can pair with, or remember, up to 8 devices. This is especially great for me since I’ve been using these with my phone, tablet, laptop, work pc, blu-ray player and home pc. I often use my headphones to listen to music at work throughout the day. I use them when gaming and I sometimes use them while watching a movie on my blu-ray player. These do sound better than any other headphones I’ve owned however I thought they should sound a little better for the price tag. I was looking for that clear, rich, perfect, studio sound that I’ve never really heard before. These headphones are hi-res and come with instructions to adjust your sound settings for hi-res audio, so I decided to try it out. I downloaded some HD music tracks, adjusted the sample rate and bit depth sound settings on my laptop and played the music. Wow, the sound is stunning. I’m now listening to clear, clean, studio quality sound! This is what I was missing, this is what all music needs and this is why these headphones are a little pricer than other models. Download some HD music tracks and try it out, you will not be disappointed. Overall I’m extremely pleased with the sound quality, comfort, functionality and design. My only con is the button placement, the touch pad and volume control need have more space between them. I would highly recommend these to anyone interested in listening true HD music and audio.

Amazing Headphones with a few minimal flaws

The ATH-DSR7BT are amazing headphone if you do it right. First let me start that these headphones are very comfortable and constructed very well. Battery life is average not great, and there is no headphone jack on the head phones themselves and there is no noise cancellation either. That being said these are still amazing headphones. I understand why there is no headphone jack. If you notice the trends with mobile phones removing the headphone jack then you can see why they made this move. If you want to take advantage of the Hi-Res audio you need a device that supports Aptx and Aptx-HD most modern cellphones that use a snapdragon processor have this already built in the device. The thing is you need to enable it in your Bluetooth settings and enable best quality. Apple users will only be able to use AAC quality files until they support MQA through services like Tidal. this doesn't mean that the sound will be less pleasing and I'm sure apple will one day support Hi-Res audio and MQA files. I hope this review helps and believe me these are still amazing headphones. One thing to note before i end this, its the included micro usb cable double as a charger and a audio connection for PC use so you can enjoy Hi-Res audio on you PC.

Great Cans Plagued by Lackluster Design

I'm an Audiophile who owns an absurd amount of over-ear headphones, and these aren't my first Bluetooth headphones, so I've had several experiences of good/bad design as well as sound signature. Unfortunately, the ATH-DSR7BT falls short in some key categories. The DSR7BT comes with a long, thick Micro USB cable as well as a nice carrying pouch. However, compared to other Bluetooth headphones I have, Audio Technica made no effort to incorporate a folding design, so they aren't very portable. The earcups do rotate 90 degrees towards you, so you can lay them flat, but that's about all you get. So how do they fit? Well, here's the catcher...these headphones are not good for large size heads. I don't have a large head by any means (I'd consider my skull to be average size), but the extending headband simply does not extend enough. My other 2 over-ear bluetooth headphones extend significantly more than these, and they are from brands that are better known by the general populous compared to Audio Technica. Goes to show, Audio Technica still has a bit to learn to reach the top. I literally have the DSR7BT extended all the way, and it is only then that I feel that the earcups are properly centered over my ears. So if you have a larger head or just different anatomy than me, well you're kind of out of luck because these will disappoint you. Comfort? Well, if you're like me, the apex of your head experiences discomfort pretty quickly if there's too much weight, too little padding, or excessive clamping. For me, these definitely rank under my other two headphones which I've taken on domestic and international flights without experiencing issues. Now, these DSR7BT's are not noise-cancelling, so I wouldn't take them traveling, but I would have considered using them at the office. That being said, I definitely have to take these off and give my ears and head a rest because the clamping force is a bit strong, despite the padding on the headband and padding being quite good! So your mileage may vary! Usability? I wish this is where it got better, but it really doesn't. To figure out how the DSR7BT works, you pretty much HAVE TO consult the user manual. The volume is controlled by a slider which feels crickety. I don't understand why they wouldn't use tactile buttons, but this is probably the worst volume control I have on any of my 4 Bluetooth headphones. If you want to skip a track, you can shift and hold the volume slider up/down for 2 seconds. If you want to pause or play, however, you have an even worse control—a touch-sensor. So you have absolutely no tactile button for play/pause, and it's also a bit slow to respond compared to my other headphones. But if you hold your finger down on the touch sensor long enough, you'll spawn Siri / Google Assistant. Overall, these controls are very odd and can be frustrating when you accidentally hit the touch sensor while trying to push the volume slider. Pairing can be done via NFC, but if you don't like pairing that way, you can just do it from your device's Bluetooth menu. However, there doesn't seem to be any way to put the DSR7BT into pairing mode once you've already paired a device, aside from using a tiny paperclip to press in the tiny reset button on the left earcup. The only way that I have found is by disconnecting from your phone's Bluetooth device menu. Once you've done that, you can connect a different device. This is much more of a hassle compared to any other Bluetooth device I have where I can usually hold a button to set the device to pairing mode. Additionally, the LED indicators on the left earcup indicate with audio Codec is being used, but you will have to consult the manual to figure out which LED corresponds to which codec. So how does it sound? Regardless of Bluetooth or wired use over USB, I'd say it's balanced with punchy (but not booming) bass, clear mids and treble response that doesn't overwhelm with sibilance. Sound stage is decent, but not incredibly wide. Stereo imagine is also good. After having used them for many hours on end, I'd say that these have a very pleasant sound signature, and I'd be happy with the sound signature if these were my primary cans. As for battery performance, they claim to last 15 hours, and so far, I'd say they stand up to that claim, but that number is definitely less compared to other Bluetooth headphones I own by at least 5 hours. Certainly a usable number of hours, but definitely lower than industry standard at this price point. Overall, I don't think these can take the position as my primary cans due to their lackluster design and the discomfort I experience in comparison to other premium over-ear Bluetooth headphones I own. From my experience (which may differ from your own), I can't recommend these given that I've had a much better overall experience from other cans that cost only $50-$100 more.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend
