Yesterday, I went to my local Best Buy looking to replace my HDMI cables on a new home theater setup. -LG 55SK90 -Onkyo NR-676 -Klipsch R-26F(2), R-25C, R-15M(2), R-10SW I had a few HDMI cables but I had them for years. I figured I would take a chance to upgrade the cables to see if I got a better picture or sound. I talked to the CSR when I get there. I told him I was looking at HDMI cables and he recommended Audio Quest. I told him I could not justify the cost of the cables. He said he could show me cables similar to the price point I was looking at. So he showed me these cables. As a former electronic technician, these cable make absolutely no sense to me being directional unless you are doing some sort of filtering - I told him the same thing. I decided why not since I was going to pay the same price for the RocketFish. I have the 6ft and 3ft cables. I got them home and had the hardest time getting these to work. I wanted to return them but I finally figured it out. I had to make some adjustments to my AVR to get it all to work. Also, the cables looked at the TV as being a source. I thought the arrows should have been pointing to the TV. I have to admit, it seems as if the sound opened up quite a bit. Sounds seem to be clearer than before. I stream to the TV and the video seem better. I was debating if I need to buy a 4k Bluray player. The shorter cable I attached to my Xbox One. Even though its not an X, I think the sound is better. I am giving this a 3 because I don't think the "directional" functionality of these cables are needed for such a short run. Filtering makes sense if the cables are behind the walls or long runs. I will not be buying anymore of these cables unless I was running cables in the walls. Do your research to see if these fit your needs.

HDMI is HDMI - Differentiator is length and price

This HDMI cable was what I needed at the length I needed it. I typically get my electronics and peripherals at Best Buy because of acceptable quality and immediate availability. I probably could have gone online to save a dollar or two, but for this trip I wanted the cable without waiting two days! If the gold plate is available and pricing isn’t stupid high, go for it (as in this cable). But for anything under 8 feet don’t pony up the extra for gold. Length is the main issue. Anything over 15 feet requires a Hercules strength signal (or Incredible Hulk if you’re more into Marvel than Greek Mythology). First I opt for the right price, then the right length, and last consideration is gold. Best Buy spends money keeping things in stock for their customers and does a good job of price-matching even against online retailers. This was what I needed, and I was willing to part with a couple of dollars to get it immediately and keep my local store in business. Otherwise, HDMI is HDMI!

To be honest, I can't really see much of a difference between these and a cheaper set of HDMI. I'm not saying the difference isn't there (feel free to say otherwise), but I think I'd have to have 2 identical brand TVs sitting right next to each other using identical Bluray players playing the exact same movie at the exact same time, but with different cables for me to notice any sort of difference. If someone came and swapped this cable out for a cheap dynex one without my knowledge, I'd probably never notice. If you have a lot of money to spend and have a pretty good sound system set up, by all means spend 40+ dollars on a video cable. Otherwise, I'd suggest the cheaper guys. It's still hi-def.

THEY SAY YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, AND WITH THIS CABLE YOU SURLEY DO. IT DOES A FINE JOB OF CONNECTING THE TV TO THE CABLE BOX, BUT THATS ABOUT WHERE IT ENDS. NOTICED CONSTANT LAGGING AND SKIPPING WHILE WATCHING TV. ALSO OCCASIONALLY WHEN SOMEONE ON SCREEN WOULD MOVE YOU'D SEE A FAINT IMAGE OF THEM FOLLOW SHORTLY BEHIND, LIKE THE SCREEN COULDN'T KEEP UP WITH THE IMAGE. NOW I'D SAY THAT THIS WAS DUE TO THE 4K TV AND NON 4K BROADCASTS, BUT I REPLACED THIS CABLE WITH A MONSTER PLATINUM CABLE AND MOST ALL OF THE ISSUES HAVE DISAPPEARED. STILL AN OCCASIONAL SKIP, BUT ITS DEF A RARITY NOW, SO THAT ILL ATTRIBUTE TO THE UPSCALING GOING ON BETWEEN TV AND CABLE BOX. OVERALL THIS CABLE IS BETTER SUITED FOR A 1080P TV AND NOT A 4K. WHO KNOWS MAYBE IF IT WAS BROADCAST IN 4K THE CABLE WOULD BE MUCH BETTER, BUT WITH THE LIMITED AVAILABILITY AT THE MOMENT SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY ON A BETTER CABLE.

When I picked up my new AVR and BD player I was caught up in the moment and spent way too much for the HDMI cable. After getting home my new purchase euphoria settled down and I remembered an article about HDMI cables i had seen on CNET. The bottom line is for HDMI, a cable is somewhat a cable and all the hype about materials etc. is somewhat irrelevant. So I packaged up that initial very expensive cable and went back over to BB and picked this one up in stead. Best decision i made as i took the money I got back in the difference and picked up two blu-ray discs to take advantage of my new equipment. Bottom line - don't get caught up in the hype around cables. Yes get a good quality cable which this one is but don't think paying more will translate to seeing more. Check out the HDMI cable story on CNET

Let's be honest, you're probably reading this thinking is it worth the $, the answer is yes don't skimp out. I just upgraded to a xbr55x930d and bought a couple of these, one for my Xbox One S and another for my cable box. I tested my older cables back from 2009 and it's a night a day difference. I noticed quite a bit of judder with the old cables while looking at the ESPN Ticker while watching ESPN. Data transfer rates are high to handle the signal moving at somewhat of a decent rate just for basic veiwing. Swapped out with old cables with AudioQuest - Pearl and WOW! Everything looks stunning and brilliant! Great buy, must have! Movies look incredibly smooth and crisp!

    A step up from basic

I'm using this cable which allows two way communication between my receiver and TV. So one HDMI is connected to my TV from the receiver. 3d playback and sound works good. The quality of the cable is definitely a step up from the cheaper cables. It can be a bit stiff due to the thicker more rigid jacket of the wire making it just a bit harder to hide (a real non issue though) but provides superior protection from wire twisting and kinking to cheaper cables. Contacts on the head of the cable appear to be better quality. I have never tried any of the really high priced cables to compare with but for just a few dollars more these cables are far better quality than your basic lower end cables

I got this cable because I have had audio quest cables in my audio video system for years. I needed a replacement for one that came with my roku and would no longer transmit in surround, was only sending stereo signal. I decided to get 2 and replace the one that came with the xbox one x and they have eliminated all of my issues. To be honest if I had the extra cash I would always go for the cable with the most silver content as my orig audio quest that are still going strong 8 years later are cinnamon but I am very happy with these and the price was right.

I'm very disappointed in these cables. I bought a 4K Ultra HD tv as an upgrade from a regular HD tv. I was using regular HDMI cables on the new 4K UHD TV and noticed wavy lines on the tv for the first 5 minutes of use on the devices the HDMI cables were connected to. The salesperson at Best Buy suggested the Audioquest Pearl UHD HDMI cables to eliminate the wavy lines. They were twice the price at $40, but had were described to be made for the exact problem I was having. After installing the new cables, I still have the wavy lines. They now last for 3-4 minutes, instead of 5 minutes. No bueno.

Its hard to pick out an HDMI cable as there are way to many options and the price range is insane. This is one the cheaper cables offered by AudioQuest but honestly i cant see why you would need anything better unless you have stacks of $100 bills laying around. Cable delivers superb audio through my denon/klipsch home theater system and fantastic picture on my samsung led. My only complaint is that the cable is too short, i should have done some better measuring. Make sure you figure out where your stereo receiver or tv is going to be placed and take measurments. 6 feet doesnt go as far as you would think. Save money and get this cable.

I am a bit skeptical on cables so I purchased the Pearls from AQ. Not the least expensive but not the most either. I use the 6'6" cable from Directv receiver to new 4k tv. I have a VA panel and I must say the viewing angle improved from my older cable. The colors do not wash out as quickly at an angle. Also the non-HD channels look better - my kids still watch some shows on these channels. The HD channels look about the same, maybe slightly better. Happy I spent a little more (not a lot more). See improvements and also future proofed my system.

I went through a lot of troubleshooting trying to get a proper picture on a the new 4K TV I bought. For some reason I kept getting a pinkish hue on the screen. I was using two 4K HDMI cables: one from the cable box to the receiver (also new with 4K up leveling), and from the receiver to the TV. I even replaced the cables once, and the new receiver once--still had the pink hue. Finally switched to the Monster cables and everything worked perfectly. Thank god because the next step was to to rebox the 65" TV and take that back. BTW the staff at Best Buy was absolutely fantastic and helped me trouble shoot all of this.

After reading a boatload about these cables I took the plunge and purchased the Pearl. Since I wasn’t going to run cables very far this was what seemed to be the right price for a nicer cable. My aesthetic would have been to go with the nicely wrapped cables AudioQuest offers but after spending $7000 on my Q9F 75” Samsung TV it was nice to find a reliable cable by them in this price range. I would recommend upgrading to more expensive AudioQuest cables If you are running more than 6’ and you have a quality TV to notice the difference.

I always thought that HDMI cables were all the same. Apparently not. I went to hook up the new 4K TV and 4K DVD player and used an inexpensive Amazon HDMI cable...could not get a picture when playing a DVD. So I tried using other HDMI's I had lying around...same thing. Went back to BB and spoke to one of the Magnolia people and was directed to this cable which he assured me it would solve my problem and it definately did. Swapped them out and instant picture. Fantastic picture too I might add! Well worth the expense where going this route.

The quality is excellent with these cables. That being said, I can not justify the price on many HDMI cables on the market. The majority of HDMI cables will basically net the same results...UNLESS you have high-end equipment that can take advantage of the small percentage of increase you will probably never even notice visually or audibly. I returned these and purchased an average CL3 rated HDMI cable that cost significantly less. END result? No change to my picture or sound...BIG difference to my wallet.

This cable change my life. I mean, I never thought a cable would make a difference but this company, first I've ever heard of them....deliver. My TV looked decent before this cable but after I put it on, good grief it changed my quality a lot. Everything I saw was more consistent and smooth. There was a young man at my location named Steven, he's the magnolia expert, or should I say the Cable expert, go see him and he'll set you up right.

Being somewhat technically oriented I knew that to get the best quality picture from my new TV I needed to use a HDMI cable. My salesperson showed me the options in the store and this cable wasn't the cheapest but neither was it the most expensive. I knew I wanted some free length for probable future use and this length gave me everything I wanted. I could have gone cheaper but would not have gotten the picture quality I am getting.

I can't believe we waited so long to change our HDMI cables and WOW what a difference now that we have. The cables are wonderful. It even has indicators that show which way to plug them in. Our old cables overheated and lost picture integrity all they time. With this new cable, we never encounter that issue. If you think it's time to update your HDMI cable then it probably is, it might surprise you with the difference it makes using a good quality set. I will never buy cheap again! These cables are worth the little extra that we paid.

I bought the AudioQuest Pearl cables because I believe they do make a difference. I bought some for my new LG OLED 4K TV and the quality of the picture is just superb. I then decided to upgrade HDMI cables on an earlier Samsung HD TV in another room and the picture just seemed so much better. I could tell a difference even though I've been told not to waste money on expensive HDMI cables. I would definitely pay a little extra for the quality of the AudioQuest Pearl cables.

AudioQuest - Pearl 6.6' In-Wall HDMI Cable - Black/White was an excellent recommendation by the Best Buy sales person. Together with our new Denton receiver we have an excellent surround sound system. In fact the clarity and richness of the colors makes watching live performances so good that you feel that you are part of the live audience. The take home lesson is obvious, "Don't skimp on the price you are willing to invest in cables because you are gaining outstanding quality."
