Very cool photo frame with a lot of features. There's a lot to love about this photo frame and a few things that are seemingly still in the works that would make it even better. The look and design of the frame itself is really nice. It would look nice in just about any setting and has a clean modern look to it. It has a weighted base that allows it to only take up a relatively small amount of table space. There's only one connection point, and that's the power input. It comes with an included power supply that has a nice cloth outer cover. I like the look and feel of it, but I question whether a more standard USB style input connector would have been a better way to go, should you need to replace this supply for any reason. The connector on the frame is a small pin style one. The display itself is really nice, and after all, this is one of the most important features of a frame like this. It's HD resolution (1920x1200) is clear and bright. There is no brightness control but I don't think it's needed. Using the included free app, you can control things like the photo change timing, the photo order, the auto on/off (which will turn the display off if the room is dark, and a few other items. Everything is done through the app so you need to have either an Android or iOS phone to take advantage of all the options. Photo storage is based on the included cloud storage. There is no onboard memory or SD card slot. The cloud storage is included free of charge and is unlimited. Another nice feature is the ability to allow friends and family members to have access to the account as well. Since it's network based, you (or anyone you choose) can upload photos from anywhere and have them show up on the frame. Since it is a network based connection, this does require you to have it connected to your wireless home network. You also need to have a Bluetooth connection to your phone to set it up. I was excited to find out it was a network device, but that was a bit short lived when I realized that it's not a device that will show up on your network. So it can't directly access you photo storage NAS or another computer. But never fear, there's also a browser app that will allow you to drag and drop photos from your NAS to the frame using your computer. Since it's in landscape orientation you may be wondering how portrait photos show up. There is actually an option for this in the frame setup of the app. If you choose to have “intelligent pairing” turned on, it will show two portrait oriented photos side by side. Choosing this option also allows the photos that are shown at the same time to be related, so they're from the same trip or time frame. This keeps them related, which is nice. It's a good option and it works well (I was skeptical at first). Turning the intelligent pairing off will show one portrait photo centered on the screen at a time. When I first read about the frame features, I was anxious to try out loading video files to it. I have a lot of Oregon waterfall short videos from a recent vacation I wanted to see on the frame. But this is a feature that is not available to anyone with an Android phone (at least, so far). This was really disappointing since the features section did list video playback as being available. For the most part, the app is pretty robust and allows you to upload any photo that already resides on you phone, to the frame. If you're like me and have a large amount of photos stored on a NAS drive, you'll need to use a browser on a computer to drag and drop your photos to the frame cloud. Although this seems to be a two step process. You drag and drop the photos, but then you need to use the app to add them to your photo queue. It works, but it's an extra step and a little clunky. All in all I like the frame and the features it offers. They've done a good job with adding unique features like giving other people the ability to upload photos. That's a really great feature for a frame given to a grandparent, or families with a lot of people taking photos. I think if they streamline the upload steps it would be a lot better and more intuitive. Positive features: Clear, bright display makes photos really pop. Unlimited cloud storage means you'll never run out of storage space. The ability to share access to the frame account so others can upload photos too. Well thought out app with good options. Negative features: proprietary power plug, could be an issue to replace the power supply. No Android video ability, photos only. Would be nice to have the ability to caption photos in the app.

The Carver Luxe Digital Frame by Aura was nicely packaged. It was very simple and quick to setup via the included quick setup guide. Just download the Aura App, make sure your phone has wifi and bluetooth enabled. The Aura App syncs with photos on your phone and then you choose which photos you want to upload to the Aura picture frame. I’ve had other picture frames and this by far is the best one yet. It was simple to setup. PLUS, it’s basically unlimited photo uploads. Previous pictures frames require USB or some type of external memory cards, that require you to remove and transfer photos. But with the Aura, you can do it anytime via the app. The display is clear and varies with single pictures, side by side pictures, and even videos with audio! I believe on the subjects in the photos. Touchscreen controls on top of the frame allows manual control from the frame. Automatically turns off when no light is detected and turns back on when there is light. I’m sure it’s a nice gift to someone with you preloading pictures for them. BUT we’re keeping this one :) Of course you invite other friends and family to upload to your frame via the Aura app. Just make sure the correct pictures are loaded ;) Overall, this frame is very nice, simple to setup, and really so nice. The next generation in picture frames.

This frame looks and works great. It is super easy to setup through the app. Adding photos is simple. You can add as many as you want, and you can share the ability to add photos with others that you choose. The frame has the ability to customize timing to view each photo, to setup hours of operation, and a pairing mode to display related photos side-by-side if wanted.

Digital Photo Frames have come a long way...

I love this digital photo frame. The display is huge and provides very clear, beautiful pictures. Setup was easy as long as I was close to the frame. I liked that there was an option to do a setup in case you are purchasing it as a gift. We plan to get another frame for my in-laws so I'm excited I can personalize that gift. The frame works as expected. When the room is dark, the display goes off yet it very quickly turns on when the light comes back on nearby. I love that I don't have to take specific action to conserve the life of the frame. It was reasonably easy to add pictures to the frame as well. The app is the easiest way to add pictures. It took a little digging to discover where I could upload the pictures to the frame from my desktop, but I was relieved that was an option. I'm super excited to use the frame! My husband was pretty impressed by the cord. It reminded him of an old school radio with tubes and whatnot. For some reason he really liked that. One con for the frame is that it's horizontal only so if you have any vertical pictures, they appear side by side instead of singular. I would have preferred the frame to have worked either way but Aura does appear to offer options that do that as well. Overall, I would highly recommend the frame. I look forward to using it and am exploring possibly purchasing more as Christmas presents for family this year.

The Aura is a great product for your home or even as a gift. Setup was extremely easy and I have experienced zero issues since turning the Aura on. Uploading photos is a breeze and they display in very good resolution. You can adjust your picture timing for a slideshow, the way the pictures are displayed. This a great item for your growing family or even a solo adventurist.

I always thought to purchase a digital picture frame but never followed through. I am now glad to have the Aura here in my home. I have thousands of travel pictures all on my PC, phone and in the cloud but have only printed a few. Now I can recall those trips via this beautiful High Definition digital frame. I really enjoy re-living those wonderful trips. The photos are crisp and clean and have true color. There is a slide bar on the top of the frame that provides for power on/off and changing the picture ahead of the selected time interval. The frame is beautifully packaged and it is setup via an APP. I put the APP on both my Android phone and my iPad. I performed the easy setup via the iPad. The instructions walked me through what’s needed to put the frame on my home network and create an AURA account. Using the APP I uploaded pictures from my camera roll with just a few clicks. I then used my Android phone APP to add pictures I have stored there. Again this was quite easy to do. Now the challenge was to upload a few thousand pictures from my PC. Well, there is an AURA web page to do just that. I went to the AURA uploader web page and opened the Pictures folder on my PC and selected the pictures I wanted to upload. Now you can see I am able to combine pictures from three devices and have them all in one place on my frame. The APP also allows you to select photos directly from Google photos, unfortunately there is no similar connection to Prime Photos or other cloud based photo storage systems. The APP also allows you to modify settings on the frame. I setup a schedule as to when to turn the frame on and off. But there is more you can do with this frame. For example, you can gift one to Grandma and actually put pictures of the grandchildren on it from your devices without being there. You can also allow family members to add photos to the frame. Via the APP I sent out an invite to a family member to join in sharing pictures with the frame. There is a process to pre-load pictures to the frame if you intend to give it as a gift. This is done without having to open the box. Full instructions are clearly written on the AURA web help page. I have not tried this because the frame is for me. The FAQ/Help accessed via the APP is very well written and divided into clearly defined topics. This is the best manual for an electronic device I have seen in a very long time. Shout out to their technical writers ! No pictures are stored in the frame, its all in the cloud securely so there are no limits to the number of pictures you can have displayed. Right now I have over 1500 and plan to add many more. Picture slideshow interval can be set from 15 seconds to 24 hours. I have mine at 30 seconds. This is going to have a prominent place in my home. It will also make a great holiday gift.

Can't believe I wasted money on this garbage. Frame won't stay connected to wifi. Remote control mode doesn't work. "Show now," control doesn't work. Got this for my elderly mother because it was supposed to be easy, but it's plagued with bugs. Aura is a bunch of crooks!

We picked this up when we had an idea for it's use. Sure, we have a ton of cellphone photos, digital wedding pictures, and your expected sort of collections, but we also have a collection of images from vintage science fiction pulps that we wanted to see. When the digital frame came available, we jumped at the chance to review it. It's about as easy to set up as you'd like. Set up an account at the company, download the app on your phone, upload your images, and choose how you'd like them to display. There are a number of clever settings that allow the digital frame system to connect images in interesting and surprising ways. It took no time for the family to connect and, if we didn't already have a plan, upload all of their favorites. Now, we have a terrific collection of Science Fiction landscapes (along with the occasional alien) lit up as if it was a window on our wall. It is really, amazingly cool. As cool as it is, there are things that I don't really enjoy (or understand). Any downloaded app will collect personal data, and the need to have an account with the company for our images will always concern me a bit. I get that much of the AI work for the clever image ordering probably has to happen at the account and not on the phone or on the frame, but I do worry a bit about privacy. And, clearly, we used the service, but it is always something to think about. All in all, we really love it. The digital frame is a new focal point in our living room. The vintage content that we uploaded makes the frame look like a window to other worlds, complete with vintage space craft, steam powered robots, and mischievous little green men. It's really cool. We kind of love it. I'd recommend it whole heartedly, though I would always mention my privacy concerns. If you have a collection of images that you'd like displayed in interesting ways, and you'd like an easy way of adding to, or manipulating the collection, this is a great tool.

This was fine for awhile. Then it started to show a screen of jumbled lines which took a hard reboot to fix. This occurs more and more frequently and now about 9 months after purchase it occurs two or three times a week.

I was super excited to open this frame up and get it up and running! The box was very nice and definitely is an attention grabber for a gift. Upon opening the box, the frame was what I expected, dark in color and plastic, I was okay with this. The cord felt nice and sturdy and had a decent amount of length to allow for different placement distances. Setting up was a little troublesome for me. I was able to download the app for my iPhone with no problems. The problems began when trying to hook the frame up to my wifi. Error after error, I couldn’t figure it out. I then realized it’s not 5g compatible. I have Verizon Fios and am offered a 2.4 ghz option and a 5 ghz option in my Wifi selections. Well all of our devices function just fine with the 5 ghz connection except this one. As soon as I selected my normal 2.4 ghz network, boom…we were connected! I absolutely LOVE the fact that this frame can accept pictures from anyone in my family. How neat is that?! You send family members your link and they’re able to send any photos they’d like to your frame. I do not like that it’s landscape only, but obviously they had to choose one orientation over the other so you as the consumer aren’t constantly rotating the frame haha. When a photo comes through in portrait mode the frame does however place another portrait mode photo beside it which was a nice feature to take up the free space. The app was easy to navigate, no issues for me to send the photos through to the frame once everything was connected and set up. Overall, I would recommend to a friend who you feel maybe has lower expectations of how a digital frame should function. I think having a SD slot which would make it able to be used without WiFi connection would be nice just for added versatility.
