Feels Premium But USB Charging is Flawed

The Austere V series power strip is a premium feeling piece of hardware with one huge flaw.
I'll start with what makes this power strip feel premium. The plug is offset to the right which keeps the cable from blocking another wall outlet. The cable has a braided external sheathing which will protect wires inside. The casing is made from aluminum and hard plastic which male me confident that it won't break if kicked or stepped on. Also, the innards are significantly heavy which makes me believe it uses beefy components and not a cheap circuit board. Another premium feature is line filtering which should help clean up the picture on a television or the sound on a stereo receiver. I personally couldn't hear or see much difference, but I am confident that I am getting cleaner power to my equipment.
The biggest flaw with this power strip is the included USB charging ports. At first, I thought I had a bad unit because the USB ports didn't work with some devices. Such as phones, laptops, portable speakers and portable batteries. However, I confirmed with tech support that it was working as designed. So, with that said, you may want to save one of the 8 outlets for a proper USB charger.
With all that said, If the USB charging capability was better, I would have no problem recommending this as a premium power strip. But in its current state I just can't recommend it.

Your Stereo Will Sound Ten Time Cleaner!

I was not expecting a difference but enter the power of the Austere V Series Surge Protector. I am utilizing the 8-outlet version for my Vizio P-series Quantum 75" along with a Pioneer 7.1 receiver pushing 100 watts per channel through Klipsch speakers or for daily use, our Bose Soundtouch 300 sound bar. The TV sound quality did become much clearer, but we do not use the TV volume much, we use the Bose soundbar for daily use.
The Bose soundbar was noticeably much more clear, and sound as a whole was without distortion or being overpowered. Yes, the sound becomes more equal and smoother, making it closer to what the sound production wanted you to hear. This made me realize it is not fake when engineers say electrical current will affect your electronic equipment more than you realize and sound seems to be a huge factor. The Austere made the biggest difference in the sound when the main focus in light sound with dialog, the voices come through smooth and clean, no crackling or volume changes, that made me a believer.
Now, the Pioneer has self-adjustment and time alignment and has never sounded perfect the way I expected. I honestly did not think it would make any difference for the time alignment but was pretty stoked for the sound after the difference with the Bose soundbar. I turned on the Pioneer, set the microphone (which is not the cheap Pioneer, I use a high dollar Shure) in the middle of the couch and let it run the program to adjust sound and time alignment. The differences in the time alignment alone made a huge difference and there has been zero change in position within my living room in over 5 years. The shadow effect I used to get from the satellite speakers are now gone, and I mean completely gone. The sound adjustment was surprising as well, creating a more real sound experience and the before and after for the center and rear side speakers were the most noticeable, showing the Mid and High adjustments at over a 20% adjustment on both, that was a crazy difference and extremely noticed by more than just me. The believer came out and I now can say the unit works and works well doing what Austere claims.
The Austere surge protector also has USB power outlets at 2.4 volts, and they consider this rapid charge. I have to disagree these are rapid charge, they are more standard in my home and more charging I have is 5 volts average with also using much more fast chargers on my Tablet and Phone. The 2 USB-A and 3 USB-C outlets are nice and since I have dedicated charging areas for devices, I ended up using the USB-A for my X-Box controller chargers and the USB-C for the lighting of my entertainment system. This was a huge plus because I no longer need to have 5 charging blocks plugged into my old power strip.
I have said what it does but how is the build quality? The build quality is so good, Austere gives you a Lifetime Guarantee on the surge protector and a 5-year component guarantee meaning if your stereo is damaged because the Austere V series protector failed, they will replace your damaged product(s). The materials look, feel and are great quality as well. The unit looks like a heavy brick, and it is, you grab it and feel the metal housing does not move at all, the cord has better materials used than a Tesla and outlet area plastic seems to be thick and ready for years or plug wiggles and making sure your devices keep working correctly.
The "Flameless MOV Protection" is a great safety addition as well, keeping your devices safe and not starting fires when high voltage spikes happen from power outages and flashes, lightening and more. This is a peace of mind feature, and you will not find it on cheap $15 surge protectors, period.
The "Smart Fit" outlet design is another feature I cannot thank the engineer at Austere for adding to the design of this surge protector. No more fighting for spots with today’s power blocks on so many devices. Electronic companies have removed the power supplies from their products to save room and shrink the size, all this did was make plugging in multiple devices to an outlet a chore and let’s be honest, completely frustrating, the Austere is designed to make sure you do not become frustrated.
I am very happy with the addition of the Austere V Series surge protector to my home theater, just makes it all that much better and I know I have a product that will be in use for the next 40+ years.

I have used several brands of surge protectors before, some super cheap, and some way over priced, and this one falls somewhere in the middle.
It comes in a very impressive box, and upon opening it, you are even more impressed with the build, weight, and construction of this unit. It has a very solid 3 prong plug, its power cord is a heavy duty braided one, and, to my surprise it also has USB C outlets and USB A outlets on it as well..very nice!
It has light to show you which outlets are working, a very long power cable for ease of placement, and it has enough heft to stay in place, no matter how many large transformers are plugged into it.
The difference between this unit and so many others is that you have the peace of mind you think you will have when you plug your expensive gear into this. The cheap crap is simply crap. No two ways about it. Tripp Lite used to be my go to power protection brand, some others are excellent, but this is simply the best 'peace of mind' I've ever had to protect my gear!
If you want top tier power protection with all the inputs you need, look no further, as this is it!

This surge protector has come very handy. It has enough outlets to meet my needs. It looks nice, I have to have it out in view since i need to remove several devices weekly from it. The color of the lights is perfect it goes with the theme of my office, not only is it perfect to my personal liking but it looks professional also. The metallic/steel look is perfect and the way the connection is set up to plug in sideways to the your electrical plug allows enough space that if oyu need to plug something else in you can just make sure it is safe before you plug in more things in the same outlet from your house Very simple plug and play set up, additionally I do have mine set up on top of my desk for easy access but it does have the option so you can mount to a wall or hide it under the desk or any place of your liking. Overall, very satisfied and the indicators do make life so much easier, and it takes the guess work away. The space between the outlets works just fine for those bigger plugs.
Pros: Simple set up, looks nice
Cons: None

I have used many surge protectors and power strips, however none come close to the Austere! I have a lot of expensive equipment running every day and one thing I always worry about is power surges and lightning strikes. You never know when one of these events may happen, and the effects of them are all to often devastating! I am glad to finally be able to run my PC and other equipment and never have to worry about things like this, now that I am using the Austere surge protector. In addition the the amazing long lasting protection offered, it is also an insanely stylish piece! Power delivery is normally an afterthought, but this really finishes out my gaming setup nicely. In addition to having every outlet filled I also love the USB and USB-C power ports! I charge my phone, watch and tablets using these daily so I also have the same peace of mind on all of my portable devices as well. If you are looking for a feature rich, stylish, and protective surge protector then I would definitely recommend this one!

I am absolutely blown away by this Austere V Series 8 Power Outlet Surge Protector! I have full peace of mind that my very expensive A/V components are safe with this Austere Surge Protector. Just unboxing this bad boy is an experience. You can tell right off the bat that you are dealing with a high quality device. With previous surge protectors I would always have to find a place to hide them, but with this beautifully designed Austere Surge Protector, it is quiet the opposite. I purposely wanted to place it where it can be seen and people have commented on it when they first see it. I have to admit that I was kind of skeptical about the advanced EMI/RFI filtration making a difference with my A/V clarity, but man was I wrong. Even my wife made a comment about the difference in clarity and she rarely notices those kind of things. You can't be the Component Guarantee, which promises to protect my equipment from damage, otherwise they will replace them, regardless of price. There are two additional details that I love about this Austere Surge Protector. First is the Woven Armor power cord that provides flexibility and strength when maneuvering through tight spaces to reach an outlet. The second additional detail that I love is the Omniport USB Charge. This Omniport provides you with 2 USB-A and 3 USB-C ports. If you have expensive equipment, you need to invest in this Austere to protect your equipment. I highly recommend it!

The nicest surge protector I've seen!

I live in Florida - we get a LOT of surges, storms, hurricanes - if it can mess with the power, we get it. Living here you want the best surge protector you can buy! We set up on an outlet that is in the livingroom that our TV, stereo, security cameras, blu-ray and other electronics are plugged into - the stuff we want to protect the most! 8 outlets, 2 USB-A and 3 USB-C jacks, *HOWEVER*, the USB charging is limited to 2.4 amps per jack which leaves it only enough to charge "personal" items (phones, headphones, etc) - no laptops unless you're into waiting forever (This is the ONLY reason I knocked it down from 5 stars) . And an absolutely beautiful product to boot - I never thought I would find myself saying this, but this is one sexy surge protector! Packing was very classy as well - I wish every product was done as nicely as this. Bump up the USB output amperage and you'll definitely have a 5 star product! This is the first time I've heard of Austere, but I hope to see them more as I believe this is a fine product and worthy of anyone's money who wishes to protect their investment in their electronics!

This is an incredible high-end power strip for power users. Everything from the packaging (it comes in a fabric lined cradle) to the brushed aluminum finish screams quality. I have this behind my TV to connect my television, sound bar, speakers, and, modem and router. Unlike the lower-end products, there is plenty of room for all of the larger plugs-- no more switching or turning the plugs in different configurations to get them all to fit.
There are six AC outlets, 2 USB connectors, and 2 USB-C connectors so there are plenty of options for whatever you're connecting to this surge protector. In addition to protecting your electronics, the LED lights give you peace of mind. When the LEDs are blue, then your devices are protected.
The PureFiltration blocks electrical noise and ensures sharp pictures for movies and gaming, and great sound through your audio components. Honestly, this isn't something that I've struggled with in the past, so I'm not sure how effective this feature is.
With the high cost of electronics, it's worth it to spend a little more to make sure you have the most protection and best performance for your devices.

Go With the 8 Port As the 6 Port Lacks the Power

This product in the 6-port version is very disappointing. How can a $180 surge suppressor not support high-powered charging an iPad Professional off the USB-C port in 2022! It looks nice seems to be well put together but literally lacks the power to be useful for it’s core purpose.
