Great drone, great camera, great customer service when it comes to Autel. Picked up the Evo in November and could not be happier. After the last few updates from Autel they have worked out most issues with the Autel Robotics Evo. The horizon tilt is gone. Ludicrous Mode and Precision Mode have been added with the updates. If your looking for a good drone with a camera on par with the DJI Mavic Zoom and a close second to the Mavic Pro 2 look at the Autel Evo. Just search for YouTube videos and watch and learn how great this Drone has become. Great deal right now as you can get the On the Go bundle for free from Autel this month. If you're looking for a good Drone the Autel Robotics Evo will not disappoint!

I bought the Mavic 2 Pro and returned it after it developed some issues with the gimbal. The Evo is fantastic. No forced firmware updates, 60fps, and no phone required to fly. The camera quality is excellent, not quite as good as the Mavic 2 Pro, but that's to be expected since it's $500 less.

I cannot say enough good things about this drone. Build quality is exceptional and the camera is VERY similar to Phantom 4 Pro. VERY stable and zero geo-fencing give this drone a serious advantage of DJI's implementation of Geo-fencing. I have the beta iOS app, but don't even really need to use it with the integrated OLED screen in the controller. I think the folks over at Autel have a home run on there hands and if you want to support the drone industry as a whole, you'd do yourself a favor by supporting Autel - as they are in my opinion the CLOSEST competitor on the market that can give DJI a run for its money.

Amazing! My first high end drone but can't imagine there's much better. Flew in outer banks in 20 mph winds with no issues. Incredible camera. Easy to fly and 20 min plus flight times. Night images are still pretty good

Only flown it twice. But love it. I had a DJI3 and it would only go 1/2 mile. This drone just keeps flying . And camera quality is good. Only bad. Is they need to include instructions in the box

I love this Drone! It's super easy to fly, it takes amazing video too. The gimbal for the camera is so stable that if I let the drone hover while taking video, it actually looks like a still photograph. There's no shaking, wobbling, or stutter. The video is nice and vivid with everything nicely in focus. I can't wait till the leaves start changing color so I can take my drone up in the mountains and video the forest. I never thought that just flying around taking pictures and video could be so much fun.

The packaging was impressive right out of the box, sturdy & individual boxes for everything. We received a very nice travel bag with it which looks like a camera bag. As far as the drone, it is very sturdy, having crashed it a few times, it held up well. Set up was easy and its easy to use. I flew it in the daylight & was impressed at how quickly it takes off & also how high it goes, it was a fairly windy day & it didn't affect the flight at all. I took video & a few pictures which you can take right on the controller, I also downloaded the app & took video & pictures with that too. I recommend the app because you can watch where you are flying & it also warns you when objects are close by. You do have to have a USB connected to your phone & the controller so I suggest a short cable. I used an iPhone 8 & it fit in the holder with the case on, iPhone 8+ only fit without the case. You can also connect an iPad. It was a cloudy day so the pictures were ok, I also flew it at dusk & the pictures were as expected, just ok. I love quality camera pics so I'm not big on cell phone pics, so I'd've to say the quality of these pics just didn't do it for me. I will try on a sunny day to see if they're any better, this would be great for sunsets. You can use a mini sd card but I wasn't able to save the video or photos to my phone which I'd've liked to do. The gimbel is adjustable. The battery charges pretty quickly & the box says flying time is 30 minutes, I'd say more like 20. The controller has a very bright OLED screen. This is very enjoyable to play with, I can't wait to use it more & find out all it can do.

Ok, so simply put people keep saying it doesn't have a rear sensor to stop it. It does, it only works in novice mode. Read the manual, it says the rear sensors will stop it in novice mode but only novice mode. People review things without knowing it. The newest firmware has so many automated flight modes. Waypoint, flypoint, fpv, follow me....this is the new kid on the block and a real contender to dji. I couldn't do dji after reading so many reviews of people saying "it feels like dji is lending me their drone, like I never really own it." Sure YouTube videos are going to go in the direction of a drone with 2 years of firmware updates vs a drone with 6 months of firmware updates. Take a leap, this thing is absolutely amazing. I traded in the Anafi for this thing, given the anafi had a bad cooling fan and it's been a reported problem. They could have ordered me a new Anafi but after reviewing many things I wanted the Evo. In high winds this past weekend (20 mph) I was averaging about 22 minute flight times. I can't wait for a weekend it doesn't rain in Florida. Ok so all in all, this thing is quiet, it's not Anafi quiet but it's quiet as ever. The range is absolutely amazing and the stability in flight is great. The camera footage in the last update seems to have cleared up the over saturated look, and everything just looks real. When you fly, the camera feed doesn't make it seem fake or movie in a sense if you know what I mean. It just looks real honestly, I love it. There's no image loss in taking a picture when zooming in and that's amazing for a 12 megapixel camera from a good distance. All in all, give dji a reason to be scared and spend the money on a great new comer. I have never been happier with a drone than I am with this gem!!!!

This drone is amazing, let me start: Packaging: While most people don't care about the box their product comes in, I could tell that Autel put thought into their box. High quality cardboard and foam inserts. I feel like I could throw this thing in its box off into the Grand Canyon and it would survive without a scratch. In the box: The drone, controller, charger, battery, two cables to connect your phone, SD card and a bonus shoulder bag. features: PACKED! This drone is packed full of features that are equal to, or greater than its competitors. Front, rear and below obstacle sensors, gps, 3 axis 4K camera, controller with built in screen, and much much more! Flight modes: This drone includes MANY flight modes, from the basic to the extreme, including a "ludicrous" mode to allow 45 MPH flight. There are many autonomous modes to use, and from my testing they all work very well. Waypoint flight, track an object and many more. I use the dynamic object tracking quite a bit and it works VERY well. Design: Folding design allows this drone to travel easily. When unfolded, it is large enough to withstand a descent wind and be a very stable craft. In flight: This baby cruises! Very quick to respond, and so many features I can't type them all. I LOVE the included screen on the controller. This allows you to use the drone without a smart device attached, or in unison with. You can fly with the camera first person view right on the controller, or have it display a bunch of flight information such as battery life, signal strength, speed, altitude and more. When used in unison with a smart device and app, the world opens up. You are able to use your larger device to show camera view, while using the controller to display flight info. Camera: The built in, 4K 3 axis gimble camera is amazing. There are many different options to choose from, but I found that leaving it on auto got very good results, while leaving me more time to fly and get video/pictures rather than changing settings. If, though, you have specific settings you need, everything is there for you to change. I am very impressed with the camera setup on this drone. Flight time: stated 30 minutes, realistically 20-25 minutes is what you will get out of this drone which is still very respectable. Range: While I did not test the stated 4.5 mile range, I flew it around 1 mile away and had excellent signal strength the entire time, in areas where I have completely lost signal with competitors drones. No video dropouts, no glitches. it worked perfectly. Cons: doesn't include an iPhone cable, but you can use any charging cable that you have, so not really a big deal. controller design allows you to hit the backside buttons quite easily. I found myself pushing these buttons quite a bit, thankfully they don't really do anything right now, but from what I understand they will allow customization in the future. In summary: excellent drone with many features. Well built and highly recommended.

Excellent Drone for a First timer

My previous experience with drones was of the smaller, less advanced type, so unboxing and powering up the Autel Evo was like preparing for my first launch into space. First off, the packaging was well thought out and easy to remove, I think the total time it took for me to have this out of the box and charging for first flight was about 5 minutes. Handling the drone itself along with the controller it's apparent that the build and design of each was thoroughly executed. The drone feels heavy and solid, sleek finishes remove any potential resistance on the body. Handling the controller for me is reminiscent of a PlayStation-like controller; it's heavy but balanced enough to alleviate any strain on holding it during flight time. However, if you are using your smartphone in tandem it might be slightly stressful depending on the model and type of phone you are using. For me it's an iPhone 7 Plus so there is some amount of strain but very minor. While on that note, if you do use an iPhone you will need to use your own lighting cable as the Evo does not include one (it does include USB-C and USB-mini). I really enjoy the compact size of both the drone and the controller, they fit easily into the carrying case and really have a small footprint so you can take the Evo anywhere. Prior to your first flight the FAA does require that the drone be registered which you can accomplish at www.faa.gov/dronezone. The registration will cost you $5 and once complete you will need to mark your drone with the assigned FAA registration number (I used a labeler). I also used an app called DroneBuddy to make sure I was out of any restricted flying zones because there is a major airport nearby, however, it's outside of 5 miles from my location so I am OK to fly. Flight operation for me was very easy to adapt to given my experience in video games, I was able to get the Evo flying seamlessly around my yard and then eventually up over the tree tops around 200 feet. At that height I was flying at about 20 MPH. Once up there I started using the camera shooting 4K videos and snapping some photos, I really can't stress enough how clear the video feed is during flight, on both the phone and the controller display. Using the Autel App I planned out a waypoint path to test GPS accuracy which I was very impressed with the results on my 2 test flights. During these auto pilot flights it's very cool to peer around with the camera. During flight ops, the Evo constantly evaluates battery consumption, taking into account environment factors such as wind that will drain the battery faster. On average you are looking at about 25-27 minutes of flight time but the main benefit of this is that the Evo will alert you of a point of no return if you fly it too far away. At that time it will initiate a return to home maneuver or allow you to manually fly back. That being said, so far my furthest flight has been about 1600 yards - just shy of a mile. At that distance there was plenty of forest between the drone and myself and it did not lose or lag the video feed. I feel confident I could have flown further. Some minor bugs I have seen so far: 1. During a long descent the Evo can become fairly unstable and sort of wobble back and forth. This does not appear to affect camera shots as the gimbal does a great job of compensating. 2. After some sharper turns and moving of the camera during flight, the horizon can be askew when you return the camera to it's level mark. It has only happened a couple times but it's noticeable. From what I have read both of these issues should be corrected with firmware updates, although the weather has been bad recently so I have not been able to fly the drone to confirm. Lastly - and this is not an issue but a recommendation - I would say that the easiest way to transfer the high-resolution video and photos off the Evo is to buy a USB Micro/Mini SD card reader. Best Buy sells one for $15 that also utilizes USB 3.0 for faster transfer. Overall I highly recommend this drone, it's extremely sharp looking and feels well built. There are enough safety mechanisms and sensors built in to allow a first time user to get up and flying. I brought this to a friends house and I may have influenced this years Christmas list.

I was very skeptical at first as to if this drone could live up to the hype. So far I am very impressed with it. The build quality feels very sturdy! The portability is excellent! The video quality of the camera is sharp and crisp with vibrant colors! GPS holds this bird rock steady! What I like most about it is the range, I have flown it out over 2 miles and had full signal strength! This is a serious competitor when it comes to the drone market! Oh and lets not forget about the 8X digital zoom! If you are in the market for this class of drone I suggest giving this one a try! I think you will be very pleased!

The drone part is great. The free extra batteries part is great. But lets talk about the remote antennae for a minute. The antennae extend outward using plastic pins as the fulcrum point. After extending, they can be rotated. Cheap plastic. One of the pins fell out without me noticing it. As I rotated the antenna the remaining pin broke the "ear" that the pin goes through. I then put that pin in the other side where the first one fell from. Yep, it broke that ear also and now it just kind of hangs there. I am assuming the wire that is holding it in place will dislodge or break with a few more uses. And this happened on the fourth flight... Will try to get a replacement sent. If I have a problem getting that, I will simply return it.

This drone is a bit challenging to setup but works well once it is done. Out of the box, it needed a firmware upgrade to fix the gimbal calibration. The horizon was constantly angled but Autel support advised to do some additional gimbal adjustments in flight via the phone app and it was fixed. Now, it is working well. The images are amazing and the camera stability for videos is spectacular as long as I do not do any crazy maneuvers. Flight time on one battery is about twenty-seven minutes on a full charge. However, the drone will want to return home at the first low battery indication when around five minutes are left or when it knows it is about to reach a point of no return. If the low battery indicator is ignored, it will land at its current position once the battery reaches the critical level. This is fine as long as it is not flying over water or somewhere inaccessible. I love the controller! It is small and compact when not in use but unfolds into a comfortable size. The controls are well placed and extremely responsive. The display is easy to read. If a phone is not used, the display has all data on one screen. However, it is best to connect a smartphone so the controller screen is dedicated to flight data and the phone screen can be dedicated to the camera display and controls. While the drone battery runs down as expected, the controller battery has a surprisingly high capacity. After at least five full flights / drone battery discharges, the controller battery is still close to 80%. I really have no idea how long it is going to take before it needs to be charged. It is also important to note that the live image quality and speed coming from the drone to the smartphone via the controller is excellent. There is little to no visible latency between the camera and the screen. When it comes to flying, Autel has a series of videos online to teach anyone how to fly. While this drone is by no means a toy, it is easy enough for a responsible child to fly it. I would say that this drone is more of a camera with a drone attached to it than a drone with a camera attached to it. I would not use it to do tricks or show off. Instead, I would use it to create spectacular aerial images and videos. In many cases, the drone will protect itself from damage. If it senses obstacles in front, behind, or below, it will reduce speed in that direction to avoid a crash. The only time this becomes annoying is when the landing zone is close to a large obstacle. In one case, it wanted to land on water because I was standing too close to a wall. I learned to come in sideways to land when near an obstacle so the sensors do not see it. Obviously, the pilot needs experience flying before landing in tight spaces. They recommend starting in an open field. However, anyone with a little experience should be comfortable flying after watching the manufacturer's videos and completing a few practice flights. Extremely bright LED lights are located on all four arms of the drone. They are highly visible even in the middle of the day. Solid red LED's are usually showing on the front arms and flashing green is the most common color on the rear arms. This indicates that all systems are normal and the drone has a good GPS signal from enough satellites to maintain proper control. Other colors indicate various details like low battery, poor GPS signal, loss of signal from the controller, or other faults. Obviously, the controller will advise the pilot of these as well, but it is nice to know these basic details without having to take eyes off the drone. The motors are surprisingly quiet. At idle, the blades can be heard spinning but they are barely audible. At takeoff, the sound level increases but it is still quieter than expected. In flight, it is louder when moving and fairly quiet when hovering unless it is fighting a strong wind. There are some videos online demonstrating how much quieter it is compared to other models on the market. For storage, the drone came with a 32 GB microSD card. I pop it out and plug it into my computer directly since that is ultimately where I want the data. It is also possible to download the images from the drone to the smartphone via the controller and app. The data transfer rate is fast for images. I have not tried yet for video. Overall, I am happy. This does what it is made to do and it does it well. Autel did not seem to cut corners. They made a solid piece of hardware. It had a software bug, but it is fixed with the firmware updates. The one caveat is that anyone using this drone should plan to use a smartphone with it anytime they are flying. While it is possible to fly without a phone, it is not really intended to work that way.

As an FAA part 107 licensed pilot and an owner of several drones, I was very interested to get my hands on the AUTEL EVO. Competition for "the best selling drone company" is very needed in my opinion. With its folding capability and compact shape, I would say that this drone has indeed been released for direct competition. Again, this is good for everyone. These companies will now strive to outdo each-other and therefore the technology will undoubtedly become better, faster. Not to mention it's better for consumer prices. It's a win, win! After dinking around with this drone for a little while now, I can say that I would easily recommend the EVO to anyone looking for a portable drone that shoots 4K. Sometimes lugging around a bigger drone with a case isn't always feasible, but tossing this in your camera bag or using the bag that they give you with the drone, makes it an easy decision to keep this with you pretty much at all times. Obviously image quality is a very big deal when considering any camera gear. The sensor in this unit's no slouch and captures rich, detailed images in good light. I do highly recommend purchasing a set of ND filters before trying to capture any daytime footage. When shooting at the correct frame rate, you'll definitely need them in any bright condition. That said, the reason I docked one star is that since it's a smaller sensor (Sony 12MP CMOS ? .3"), the low light capability will suffer. It'sn't horrible, but it could be better. While this is true among digital cameras of all kinds, it defeats the purpose of me actually using it in low light (dusk / dawn) conditions. So again, if you are shooting with ND filters at the correct frame rate, during lit daytime conditions, you'll be satisfied with this unit. Just try to keep your ISO at 100 as much as possible. The controller and EVO app are really done well. The main controller screen is extremely sharp. The text is so sharp that it's like looking at a retina display. It even works well in bright sunlight. I am using a Note 8 with Android and the app works flawlessly paired with the remote screen. Camera settings are extremely easy to change on the fly. A big bonus over other manufacturers. There is an easy to navigate main bar at the bottom of the app screen that lets you control all camera settings easily with swipes left and right. Another very cool feature of the app software is that it lets you set up a time-lapse to take photos automatically at set intervals as you are shooting your video. Awesome feature! Another really cool feature is the user selectable live video feed. This means you can switch the live video feed between either your device or the remote itself. Very cool if you do not have a device with you, or say your battery is depleted on your phone. The in-flight handling of this unit's really, really nice. So far, I have experienced very smooth flight and tracking of subjects. The unit's also very quiet compared to some of my other drones which is great news. As a bonus, if you are a newb, you can set this up in beginner mode which will help you learn how to fly properly before you turn it off and go into normal mode. Beginner mode keeps the drone at a lower altitude and a little closer to your position. That paired with the obstacle avoidance makes this a very good choice for said beginners. Battery life is also excellent. I have been getting about 25 to 30 minutes per flight which is great. When you are up in the air flying 25 to 30 minutes feels like an eternity. I would also recommend buying one or two extra batteries so you can get all of the footage needed no matter where you are and without having to recharge in the field. Another tip that I can give is to plan your flight when you arrive at your destination to save battery time and drain. If you know what you want to capture before you take off (instead of flying around aimlessly), your footage will be much better when you get back to your editing station. Keep in mind that if you shoot everything in 4K resolution, you'll need a very good video editing computer to edit your footage smoothly. If you do not own a high-end computer system, I would recommend that you create proxies of your files before editing. Actually, I would recommend creating proxies even if you do have a high-end system. It makes editing your video and scrubbing through clips like butter. All in all, this is a solid effort from Autel Robotics. With its portability and excellent remote / app, not to mention friendly price point, you really can't go wrong with this drone. Go get yours now! Lastly, being an FAA part 107 licensed pilot, it's my duty to highly recommend that everyone interested in becoming a pilot (not just hobbyists) to take the course, obtain the license, and learn how to fly safely. This will save you possible disaster circumstances if you are flying in the wrong area (airspace) which I am sure a lot of people do because they simply do not know any better. There are several courses online that you can take to help you study for and pass the test. If you decide to go this route, once you complete the course and receive your license, you'll understand exactly what I mean by all of this. Airspace is a tricky thing and warrants you having extensive knowledge on how to navigate it legally, properly, and safely. Studying for the Part 107 isn't only fun but very interesting and will teach you everything you need to know to put yourself in the right situation every time. Do yourself the favor. Fly safe, fly smart, and have fun!

This is my third drone and by far the best I have owned. The EVO weighs not quite (2 pounds) and includes a carrying case along with a 32 GB microSD card. The microSD card is protected by a hatch cover on the right side of the aircraft and is easy to get to. The EVO is very solid and well-made. Setup is simple. If you live in the US I encourage you to use the smartphone app B4UFLY for rules and restrictions in the airspace. The charger can charge both the drone and the controller batteries simultaneously. Flight Performance is good and helps in the video capture side of things. My battery life has been between 20-30 minutes. My radio range is about one mile in the city - needs to stay within eyesight based on current regulations. I really like the Anti-Collision System. Several warnings appear on the video feed as it approaches an obstacle and past a certain point it will refuse to move forward if you are on collision course. The image quality is quite good. The camera has a reasonable dynamic range and low-light sensitivity. If needed there are neutral density filters that can be purchased. The design of the controller is similar to many drone and video game controllers with a very nice feature - the controller can display the video without the need of a smartphone thereby reducing potential problems.
