BEST DRONE FOR THE SIZE AND FEATURES

I have owned many drones before both small and large. I am extremely glad to have discovered the Autel Evo drone. The one problem with many drones of the past is how large and bulky they are. Most people want to take their drone with them everywhere they go to capture memories. If you must carry around a large bag full of a large drone and other parts, then this can be complicated. This drone is Autel’s solution to this problem. It takes a 4k camera, long batter life, high speeds, and long range and packs it into a foldable small package that you can easily through into any bag along side your other gear. This drone only comes in one color which is orange, but I feel it is very fitting and looks amazing when zipping through the air. Starting with the camera, this drone is packed with a very nice 4k camera that allows for ultra-high definition videos. One thing that Autel did very good was designing the gimble. A lot of the smaller compact drones on the market are not able to pack a great gimble. This gimble feels both sturdy and it produce very stable video even under high wind. This drone is packed with obstacle avoidance system. It works well and can detect and maneuver around obstacles. The only downfall to this system that I have found is rear detection. It will detect something is there, but it will not stop. It is possible this can be fixed with a hardware update. When high speed mode is enabled, obstacle avoidance will still alert you, but the drone will not stop from crashing into something. Overall the obstacle avoidance that it does have is much better than most other drones. I was incredibly impressed with how stable the drone was. It was able to lock onto its location via GPS and even under high wins it held steady with no problem. The drone can be quite sluggish when ludicrous mode is not enabled but once this mode is enabled I could not believe how zippy the drone was. It could reach speeds up to 45 mph and the best part was, it was still very predictable and under control. The build quality of the drone is a lot better than I expected. I expected a light and plastic drone, but this is not the case. Although the drone is lighter than a lot of drones it feels premium. It also has a combination of both plastic and metal to give it a very premium feel over the competition. Battery life was rated at 30 minutes but actual in the air time I found to be just over 20 minutes. I do not think this a huge downfall because you can easily carry extra batteries and 20 minutes is more than enough time to be in the air. In addition, depending on how fast you are going, wind resistance, and movement drastically changed how fast the battery died. The remote control for this drone was impressive. It has a decent size screen on it that when combined with a smart phone it offers more than enough controls to get the best shots. I love how compact the controller is, but it has many buttons for easy access to things while flying. The only downfall to the controller is there was Micro USB and USB-c cables included but no iPhone cable. This is not a huge downfall, but iPhones are very popular, and it would have been a nice edition. It was interesting that the controller has fans and vents inside of it which goes to show there is most likely a lot of technology packed into the controller. For a folding and compact controller, it feels a lot better to hold in the hand than many other comparable drones. This drone is also packed with some smart features that allow for active tracking and other things that will help you autonomously get video footage. The only downfall that I have found is that you can enable a faster speed mode, but you must hunt for it in the settings. It would be nice if there was a quicker way to enable faster flights. This is not a huge downfall though because I will keep it in that mode most often. Anyone looking for a high-quality compact in size drone I would give this drone a try over some of the competition. Although the company is somewhat new to the drone business the drone is very high quality and very competitive to the competition. I highly recommend this drone for anyone who is looking to get great quality video/pictures in a small package.

I got into droning as a hobby and quickly found that it was very relaxing. I go for the thrill of taking my drone to its limits and landing it safely. The purchase was pretty cool too! The Manager at 1 Best Buy allowed me to purchase the drone at her location, and then pick it up at another. She managed the process pretty well, calling ahead to make sure the drone was in stock, then telling the manager there that I was coming to pick it up. I enjoy it as a past time and it relaxes me very much!

The Evo video quality exceeds that of the Mavic Pro and in a similar impact package. Autel has excellent customer service and the Evo isn’t hamstrung by no fly zones like DJI products. Use wisely.

Drone performs beyond expect. No restrictions no dji control. Even in high wind has been very stable. With the bundle is far more reliable and a controller display makes it perfect

Great unit, extra batteries a plus. Good range, not quite as good range as mavic at lower altitudes and trees. Longer range than mavic above trees at 350

Very nice drone. It’s missing some of the automated modes the DJI drones come with but it’s a heavy duty, stable drone. No complaints.

Having a couple of the brand "D" drones I was anxious to get my hands on the Autel EVO. Out of the box I was impressed with the build quality. I also like it's compact size with foldable propeller arms very much like the Mavic Pro. With 4K at 60FPS the video quality rivals other more expensive drones and the 12MP camera does a great job on stills. It comes with the following in the box: - Autel EVO drone - remote controller - 32GB Sandisk micro SD card - extra set of propellers - charger (capable of charging the drone battery and remote simultaniously) - remote USB charging cable - 2 smart phone connecting cables (since I'm a Samsung phone user I was happy to see one of the cables was a USB type C) - soft carrying case - and of course instructions The biggest draw for me the ability to fly it without a smart phone. The OLED display on the remote control gives you camera view and the basic flight status information (height, distance, speed and gimble angle, battery strength and remaining flight time). On the left side of the controller at top features a dial for controlling the gimble pitch and a video record button. At the right top is a shutter button and display mode button and screen navigation wheel. On the back are two programmable buttons for user use. Here are some of the main features of the controller that I like: - Safe launch and land button - Go Home button - a pause button which will pause the drone in place from whatever commands are currently being done - multiple modes for flight, depending on user's preference I especially like that adding a smartphone is done at the top of the controller with an included clamp device. Adding a smartphone running Autel Explorer opens up a ton more features like GPS way-point flight control and easy setting of follow me and also satellite view of position. Also, with the controller layout similar to a gaming controller you will be familiar with the feel in your hand and the palm grips fold in for compact storage. Unfortunately I have not yet found any 3rd party smartphone apps for the EVO like Litchi which allows for the use of VR goggles. Out of the box I found it very easy to fly. Controls are intuitive and it only takes a short few minutes to get the hang of basic flight and photography. With more practice you can start adding some of the advanced features to your flight. I actually found it easier to fly than the Mavic Pro and I like the smartphone placement better. If you are considering a high end video/photo drone you should consider the Autel EVO. Feature to dollars it's a formidable adversary to the other brands.

The sales associate tried to push me in the direction of DJI. I liked the value of the Autel drone. Autel is still working out minor quirks, but the Evo does not disappoint. You can fly directly from the screen with no worries, aside from regulations that say not to do so. I have a typhoon H and this is my go to drone for its ease of use and quick startup. I am worried I will break an antenna, often press the buttons on the back by accident, and struggle with the camera cover, but otherwise love the drone.

I like the Mavic drones from DJI including the Air but I ended up returning them . The top reason I decided on the EVO, the app is a lot less restrictive that I can still fly it in my backyard. The DJI drones will not even take off. The photo/Video is not quiet as good as the Mavic 2 Pro but better than any of the Mavics. So far, I've had no issues that will make me reconsider my decision.
