I bought this to replace an old Elgato HD60 Pro. I needed a capture card that wouldn't limit pass through to 60hz on my gaming monitor. I needed a stable 120hz at 1080p and I got it now. I run a 2 PC set up and my gaming PC is built to play Cyberpunk 2077 and Final Fantasy XIV at 1080p 120hz at max. I also have a Nintendo Switch but I haven't tested it yet. It's heavy duty and reliable so far. A little on the expensive side for what I needed but I was willing to pay the extra money for peace of mind and potential upgrade ability down the line.

    An Unmitigated Disaster

For transparency's sake let me first admit that I'm an Elgato fanboy and loyalist. I wanted to wait for their line of HDMI2.1 capture cards, but when they told us they wouldn't be released before Christmas and wouldn't give us an officiate time frame, my impatience got the better of me. So, I broke ranks to bought the AVerMedia Live Gamer Ultra. The best part of the experience was making the purchase and being filled with joy and eager anticipation. As soon as it arrived and I tried to install it, that joy quickly vanished. As an Elgato enthusiast, I'm used to plug and play solutions. This was not that. There were so many settings to adjust along with color restrictions/limitations, etc that I was never able to get the picture to pass through let alone be able to capture it. After searching the interwebs, I ended up on AVerMedia's subreddit only to find that I wasn't the only one having trouble. Apparently there were firmware updates needed for it to work (with my Xbox Series X) that apparently hadn't been released yet. After a frustrating couple of hours, I boxed it up and sent it back. Never again. Thankfully Elgato's new capture cards are being released on 2/1/24.
