What can I say? It just works! I've used this card on two different Ryzen systems, including the new 3950X CPU and it hasn't put a foot wrong. Some people complain about firmware update issues but I've messed around with a couple and haven't had a single issue. There's two programs you need to install in addition to the firmware update. Their site can be confusing but make sure you download and install the drivers first. Then you can download the latest firmware and RECentral software which is included for capturing 4k HDR footage. RECentral also supports streaming but I primarily use Streamlabs OBS (SLOBS) and it's been perfect (much better than the USB version (GC553) which is plagued with issues on the Ryzen platform).
Avermedia says it has RGB lighting but the software is so bad you basically get to choose a couple cloud/rainbow patterns or solid blue. You really do not get to customize the lighting at all which is a shame because technically you could. This perfectly sums up AverMedia. They usually make great hardware that's only limited by their software. Because OBS/Streamlabs is much better software, you still get amazing hardware here.
Anyway, if you want an alternative to Elgato which has had a lot of software issues lately, this is a great alternative. Not one hiccup since purchasing it.

WAY better than the Elgato 4K60 Pro Mk.2

After installing the driver/software (AVerMedia RECentral 4) and updating it this thing worked like a charm. It allowed for maximum resolution and frame rate pass through on all of the newest systems ( XSX, PS5, and NS) and maintained an output of 1440p 60fps even when switching between consoles, which is great for consistency when making/editing videos. Works very well with OBS and had almost no issues getting it up and running. I could even reset my PC and consoles and it maintained all the proper settings.
This is in SHARP contrast to the Elgato 4K60 pro mk. 2 (which is what I tried first). That awful device (and buggy software) kept restricting my Xbox to 1080p60fps and would often just fail to detect any of my consoles inputs. To make matters worse, once I got the software working / streaming through OBS at the desired settings, it would instantly reset to its buggy defaults /low res and frame rate if I ever needed to reset the PC / shut down. I have no idea how the Elgato has more/better reviews than this device when this device is clearly superior and more functional.

AVermedia device and software were both very easy to install. I was able to connect a couple of devices to it with an HDMI cable and record to an external hard drive.
Its not the most complex software, so if you're looking for something with a bit more video rendering options, youll want to keep looking. Otherwise, its a simple 4k device that works well for basic users.

Great Capture Card. Not A Great Pass Through.

As a capture card, it does a fantastic job. However, as a pass through, it’s less than stellar. I actually ended up forgoing the pass through and decided to get an HDMI splitter to send the signal to both my television and PC. The latency when the signal makes it back to your television is just too great. Games are unplayable on the television you are passing it through to. However, there is NO latency whilst previewing it on PC.

Excellent internal capture card. Easy to install and easy to use software as well. Why pay Elgato $400-$450 when Avermedia does the same for less plus it has RGB settings as well. I as a Mixer Streamer, definitely recommend it.

The ReCentral software is great and not perfect. It could use a way to control the stream bandwidth to be different between the different platforms. Otherwise vs the competition it is a great deal and try to get it on sale because 300 is too much for this product.

I've bought the 1080p version of this card and now the 4k version. I've only had minor issues out of both of them and it captured my streams with no problems. I recommend it.

We were trying to use this in conjunction with a video switcher, and it wouldn't read it no matter what we tried. It would work with one camera at a time, as long as the resolution was 4k. It wouldn't work with anything with a lower resolution however. Not the best capture card.

Lowest latency 4k capture card

This is the lowest latency hdmi capture card that I know of. It will be fast enough to watch in the preview screen instead of needing a second hdmi monitor. It is also able to capture in the Avermedia Recentral app at the same time as capturing in obs if you want a clean video separate from your stream video. slobs has a way to do this to some extent. It requires a decent gpu to use it so it doesn't look like it has a hw encoder in it like some older products, but older products won't do 4k. I didn't test simultaneous 4k recentral/1080 obs, but it was fine at 1080 recentral/1080 obs.

This capture card in terms of specs is probably the best out there. While it worked, it worked swimmingly and had very few issues. Unfortunately, I had issues within 8 months of owning this capture card. Audio would cut out frequently, audio would become robotic, and shortly after the HDMI Passthrough stopped working. Resetting this card in two different PCI-E slots would solve the issue for a few minutes, then after a few minutes I'd continue to keep getting the dreadful "No Signal" message even though both my PS5 and Series X work fine outside of the capture card. I honestly hate to review it so badly, but I wouldn't have expected this go bad within the first year. If you get the lottery and get a working unit, it works extremely well with no hiccups. Unfortunately you might get one dud out of the bunch.
