You can’t stop the “grain” try

With all the adjusting and lighting improvements the camera still till this day has a grainy layer about it that’s almost impossible to shake. For how expensive it is, it’s a complete wash.

Do not buy this. Using it on fresh windows 10 install on ryzen 5950x, asus maximus viii hero mobo, the cable that came in the box plugged directly into a usb 3.2 gen2 mobo port (but same problems in gen1 ports). Upgraded webcam to latest firmware and app said camera is connected via usb3. Tried other cables too. Camera works fine in aver preview but as soon as I try to use it in any other app like google meet, zoom or nvidia broadcast, the image freezes, the camera shuts off, and the system slows down. Returning it and looking for my old c920.

Horrible quality even after tweaking the settings based on several different users, software would not open after installing, and just overall no where near the top of the line experience I was expecting for this price point.

4K Ready To Stream

This might be the best webcam I have ever seen and used. Setup is super easy. There are instructions in the box that explain how to update the firmware before you do anything else. That process maybe took me a total of 5 minutes at most. Once the firmware was updated I installed the software.
This is plug and play and the software is not needed but it certainly helps. It allows you to control the settings and really fine tune your picture for your environment. There are several how to videos on their site as well to help make sure you are setting everything up properly.
I spent 30 minutes just checking out all the settings and playing around to see how they worked. I was up and streaming in no time. The video quality is fantastic. I was shocked. I really like how it can be set to include all people in the frame (it auto adjusts the zoom) or to follow your sound. I felt like I had a professional film crew following me around.
There is an attached swing arm that lets you block or unblock the camera so you do not have to worry about someone spying on you through the camera when you are not using it. The microphone really picks up the sound well also.
In the box you will get the camera and the USB-C cable. The instructions suggest using a USB 3.0 port if possible on your computer. I have used it on 2 different machines, one laptop and one desktop and in both cases it instantly recognized the camera and I was up and streaming.
You can pair this with a OBS software and you can really make some great videos and capture your screen while seeing yourself too.
The camera itself has a nice weight and feel to it. I was surprised how "heavy" it was. I was expecting a very light webcam and this is built solid. The attached clamp can be mounted on a tripod as well for perfect placement.

Pretty good, with some adjustments

A 4K webcam should be near-perfect, especially for a fairly expensive one such as the PW513. With some small adjustments, this is a pretty good camera.
What I liked: The camera image was pretty good, especially after tweaking the settings using the CamEngine software. Using a fast USB-C port, I got smooth motion and the image captured me pretty well with regular lighting. Once I turned up the lights (or used natural day light) the image got even better. While most screen-mounted external webcams only allow for up/down, the PW513 swivels in multiple directions and tilts to help center the frame.
What I didn't like: It's a pretty big webcam at a little over 5" long, but it stays on my monitor, so it's not a big deal. Really the worse thing is the CamEnging software. It's not that robust. The software is also only available as a "Lite" version for Macs - meaning adjustment options are even fewer.

This thing is huge... but it works great

Physically this thing is huge compared to other 4K webcams which means Avermedia can do things like include a physical plastic shield bolted onto the device to cover the camera when not in use. This is a welcome addition as the rest of the webcam players force you to rely on duct tape or sticky notes to block the camera when not in use. The inclusion of support for a kickstand is another bonus to this webcam which is great for use cases where you are not able to mount your device directly on the top center of the monitor.
The camera does have a number of controls available via software download from the Avermedia app, for example the zoom feature, which helps.
The last thing I'll say about this is that the wide angle of this camera means whoever is looking at you is going to see EVERYTHING behind you so be aware of your backgrounds.
If you need 4K streaming, this is a great web cam to use.

For the last week I've been testing the Avermedia stream cam as my primary telework camera. Overall, I think it's a really great camera with just a one drawback.
Likes:
- The picture quality is great. Colors are accurately captured and are clearly displayed on the distant end.
- The wide lense captures the whole room without causing a fish eye appearance.
- When there are multiple people in the room, you can set the camera to automatically put whomever is speaking into frame.
Dislikes:
- It requires a USB 3 port and it doesn't play well with USB hubs.

This webcam is very simple to set up and get working. The build quality is much better than I had anticipated, and the privacy arm equally so. It feels like the entire thing is metallic, which adds to the build quality.
This will only work on a USB 3.x port. If you plug it into a 2.x port it will have a box in the middle of the video telling you to put it in a 3.x slot.
The quality of the video is better than any webcam I have used, not that I've used that many. It looks very clear and the motion when I move is pretty smooth.

This is a great webcam with fantastic resolution. I have been using a webcam I bought in 2009 and boy, have these come a LONG WAY! The camera is wide enough to catch a conference table with multiple people. It's now my go-to for zoom meetings at work. I like that it has a physical cover so I can see when it's not allowing any video. I'm told that my sound quality is great too from the mic. It's easy to install, just plug it in and windows does the rest. I've had NO issues whatsoever. All in all I'm very happy with this webcam.

As so many of us have faced in 2020, I am having to attend A LOT of online conferences, meetings, and seminars for my work. For some of my work, I have to display charts in the background next to me as I discuss and perform my presentations. A few of my colleagues had informed me that with my previous camera I was using, it was highly pixilated and difficult to make out what I was presenting. I wanted to go overkill for my scenario to help future proof my media presentations and therefore I was happy to get this camera.
I am not using this alongside gaming or on YouTube, just for Zoom and Microsoft Teams mostly. The image that I my colleagues are reporting now is as crisp and smooth as I had hoped with the 4K video! I can even tell that my image is one of the best projected on zoom when I compare my video image with that of others!
For my uses now, I think this is a great camera!

I use this webcam for daily meetings and it works wonderfully. First, it fits the top of my monitor securely and is adjustable for multiple angles. The resolution is very clear and it is fast and responsive.
It was easy to setup and my system immediately recognized it. The camera has a slide cover for covering the camera and sits on a high quality swivel. I'm very happy with the product.

Setup took some time because of the configuration
Improvement over the camera built into my laptop.
The sound is ok, but the picture quality is excellent. I would have given this 5 stars if the setup wasn't such a pain.
The camera itself has a little weight to it and it is very sturdy, so that makes me happy that it should last a long time.

I'll preface this by saying I originally had the 1080p version of the same camera and was very happy with it. It was good to see they released an updated 4k version of the cam.
To start, the packaging is pretty straightforward, no bells and whistles, but there doesn't really need to be. It's just a webcam, albeit a nice webcam.
The unit itself follows the same tube-shaped design of the previous generation with an integrated camera cover which is always welcome, especially in this day and age of everything being online. The device pivots slightly in multiple directions on the integrated monitor mount, which is useful if you dont sit directly in front of the camera.
Connectivity was a breeze. It was immediately recognized by my PC and I could use it in both XSplit Broadcaster and OBS without any trouble. I've also used it in Zoom calls and it works well, although 4k is a bit overkill for that. Be sure you have an available USB 3.0 port for full capability.
The image is high quality, the adjustments are easy to make and I've had zero issues or complaints with how it shows from people viewing it.
All in all it's a good update to an already solid cam and one of the more affordable 4k webcam options available. You'd do well tel select this one.

Big price, but not a lot of camera

This camera comes with a pretty big price tag for what is essentially a webcam. Definitely the most expensive one I ever owned.
It is truly plug and play. I pulled it out of the box, plugged it into my computer and opened up the windows default camera app and I saw video immediately. But what I saw was a pretty oversaturated and grainy image. I thought something had to be wrong. This is a 4K expensive webcam, it should have a crystal clear 4K image!
I downloaded the software from their website so I could make adjustments to the color and saturation and all those things and I got the image looking a little better, but it still was kind of grainy. Then I downloaded their REC Central software, ad while it provided more options, I still couldn't get a great image out of it. My computer is in front of a window and it was a bright sunny day, so I assumed there was plenty of light. But just for the heck of it I set up my studio lights right in front of me to provide some extra light. It was only after I did that, that I was able to get a pretty clear, non-grainy image. Just for fun I set up my GoPro hero 8 which is also a 4k camera and roughly the same size without the studio lights and it wasnt nearly as grainy.
So, for whatever reason, I was not able to get a very clear and well balanced image out of this camera unless I had some pretty bright studio lights right in front of me. Not sure if this is something that can be corrected in a firmware update, but that was my experience with the camera.
It would be fine to use as a webcam for zoom meetings and things like that, but for a professional streamer, I would think they would want something with a better image quality.

Best webcam I've ever used

I will first I will say I notice a lot of people having hit or miss experiences with this webcam. What I will tell you is that for me, it has been such a wonderful purchase!
I use this camera to stream on Twitch. You do in fact need a USB 3.0 (or higher) port in order to use the camera; but I don't count that as a negative because it's 2021 and the people who would benefit from this camera should most certainly have a port available on their motherboard.
The picture is wonderful! The second I saw the quality difference in OBS between this and my Logitech C920 I was floored.
The software suite you can download for the camera is nice, but for me, it is a bit too buggy/does not always work with OBS. Not enough for me to bring it down a star since I just use the picture adjustment/zoom in OBS.
I will say that this camera SAYS it is Mac compatible but to get the best experience you should really be a PC user. I have heard very mixed things about using this camera with a Mac.
The camera does get VERY WARM; warmer than any webcam I've ever seen/used. Not to a point where the components are in danger, but still.
Overall, I am an extremely happy purchaser. Yes it's true the software is a bit odd and the webcam gets pretty toasty. However, these do not hinder my experiences. Full motion (360) tilting/panning/adjustment, ultra smooth video even on the 30 FPS mode, and very accurate colors for a webcam. This was a win for me.
