I purchased this product on sale and it seems to work well. The package of security apps work together well and relatively quickly. For $15 this was a bargain. I recommend it.

I always have the impression that you only test completely an antivirus when a problem arrives and something attacks your device, so making a review seems always a presumptuous action. In my case however, this is the second time that I am using AVG antivirus technology and I’ve picked Ultimate option for a couple of major reasons:
1.- Because up to now, in the year using this technology, I never had a single problem with virus.
2.- Because in a single license you can cover several platforms and depending your option more than one/all your devices: my and my wife laptops with windows10, my stepdaughter mac, and my two android devices: phone and tablet.
3.- Because the installation is a breeze. Going to web, download the app or program and once downloaded enter your activation code to expand the free version into the professional.
I've needed however to uninstall and reinstall the app in windows 10 when it blocked after the first scan, this never occurred again since.
4.- Because once the basic app installed, and the main board is downloaded. Based on your license, the system indicates you other aps included in the bundle: VPN management and tune up for laptops (and cellphones).
5.- Because with the Ultimate version you are expanding the antivirus/security component by adding other two important aspects: VPN and performance. Consider your Web navigation privacy with a full VPN navigation component that will keep you save and unidentified during your navigation by encrypting it and also a tool that can close/eliminate/manage apps that remain open in your device without noticing that is effective to accelerate your phone processor speed and expand the battery life.
6.- Because the usage is intuitive. For the laptop, the single option to select is “scan” and for the cellphone app “analyze” and the risks or the important info is absolutely color-coded: green=good, red=bad (items require a follow up).
7.- Because is multilanguage, as my family, and I can install it in the language preferred by each of the users.
Few items to be aware:
.- If you have a multiuser license: 5 or 10, create first your account in AVG website and introduce your activation code linked to your account. This is the right order, otherwise once you introduce the code as single activation once, you should do it for the rest as many times as licenses. While you can do it, it will not be possible to track how many did you use and how many are still remaining (at least, I didn’t figure it out).
.- In the play store, the app to download is AVG Antivirus Free and after downloaded and the code being introduced it transforms in Ultimate version. This is not always evident and my search for the app-ultimate was not producing results in the store.
.- Despite you buy the ultimate version, there is always something else that is not included in the price and you should pay an extra to buy it. This time is the web antitrack feature, and this is bothering me!.

All the Protection your Device Needs

I used the free version of AVG for many years. I liked it due to its simple interface design and it did a good job as an antimalware. Eventually, I moved to a paid version of a competitor until now when I have had the opportunity to try AVG Ultimate. I am convinced I cannot live without it anymore for the reasons below.
The interface is still very simple and straightforward. For most people, that is one of the most important features. Who wants to waste time trying to figure out how to set this or that?
When I was about to start this review, an AVG message popped on my computer screen warning that my LinkedIn account had been compromised. My credentials had been stolen. I immediately took action by changing the password and adding a two-factor authentication. It felt like AVG knew what I was about to do and hacked my account just to prove a point. Conspiracy theorists out there, I do not believe that was the case but it was perfect timing. It did add some ease of mind because now I know that it checks for that type of thing.
This is not just an anti-virus software. It is very comprehensive. It has tune-up function, which did little for me because my computers are relatively knew but it seems good enough to help most computer users. It also comes with password protection, a feature that no computers should run without, and protects from zero-day attacks in most cases plus a very welcome ransomware protection.
Finally, it comes with VPN, which allows you to hide your location besides encrypting all the traffic. I tried setting it to other cities in the U.S. and all ads I would see on some sites were for those cities. I tried Sao Paulo, Brazil, and most ads were in Portuguese. You can Google for your location and you will see that it also shows that you are in that selected location. One interesting location you can set is Gotham City, which in my experience kept changing my location randomly. It would show I was somewhere in Eastern Europe one minute and then in New York the other, making it impossible to be tracked by any website. I did not try but I believe that it could cause issue with some secure sites such as banking. So be aware of that. I did notice that some sites became a bit slower while a few others became a lot slower. I suspect that it actually reroutes your internet traffic to the selected location which may not have enough bandwidth. So if your browsing becomes too slow, choose another location.
Overall, the whole package is lightweight and all the features worked as advertised. However, one very frustrating thing is that even though I created an account and registered the software and features, it always told me that I had no subscriptions in my account. Despite that, everything worked fine but I would like to see it tied to my account. That was very disappointing and is the reason I am not giving it five stars. Otherwise, it is an excellent protection for your PC and privacy.

Anti virus is good but Vpn is the culprit for this bundle due to the fact it will slow down your internet speed.

While you can get a decent, free anti-virus package in Windows Defender, increasingly that’s not enough to truly protect your machine. AVG provides all the tools need to keep you safe.
AVG is one of the more recognized brands in internet security. This package includes nearly every type of security service you’d expect to have. Beyond anti-virus, there are modules which scan e-mail and web downloads, modules which look for changes and unusual activity around your personal files, and modules which watch for sensitive information such as credit cards being transmitted on the web from your machine. If you still think that internet protection only means viruses, you’re unfortunately in for a surprise. Beyond the monitoring that this package includes is a VPN. This creates a secure tunnel from your machine to one of AVGs servers and should be used any time you’re on a public network. VPNs can also hide your internet activity from your internet provider if you don’t want Verizon or Comcast targeting ads to you.
AVG markets several packages with varying levels of security. The Ultimate package is the highest level. The downside of this approach is that each package requires its own installation and subscription activation. There’s also some duplication as the internet security module has a VPN as well as a stand alone VPN with more robust options. Both are included in your subscription, but you’ll have to configure each to play nice with each other so you don’t have two conflicting networks.
Beyond the multiple downloads, installation was a little confusing. There are several options for which protection you’d like to enable. However, little information is provided about the protection itself. If you skip past the initial set up, you’ll eventually have the chance to learn more about what each choice provides.
There’s no one right setting for everyone. One thing’s certain, AVG will not slow you down much. I noticed no performance impact to having all the protection options enabled on my 8th gen i7 laptop. The only noticeable slowdown was a decrease in download speeds by ~25% when the VPN was active on my phone. That’s right, this package includes protection for 10 devices including Mac, Windows, Android, and iOS. You’re welcome.

I've used many antivirus products over the years and each has their strengths and weaknesses. One of the biggest issues with most antivirus solutions, however, is the fact that many of them are very resource intensive, whether consuming a lot of RAM while running, using an excessive amount of CPU processing, grinding your hard drive, or just installing a ton of bloat in the way of tools and features no one actually uses, each of them seems to have some sort of downfall.
AVG is one of the few that really doesn't. The AVG client is lightweight and while it contains some features that you may or may not need, they are not excessive nor are they "in your face" trying to get you to use them all of the time. I appreciate that AVG can silently keep my system clean and running smoothly without excessive notifications or annoying popups. The UI is clean and streamlined, easy to navigate and very minimal. Stack on the fact that you can install this on up to 10 devices and it really is just the 'go to' for me.
From monitoring files and email, to ensuring my web experience isn't downloading a bunch of malware, it works beautifully behind the scenes and only bugs me when it has something important to say... and I dont mean something it thinks is important, but something *I* would think is important. AVG routinely scores near the top in the AV Test.org trials, which makes it an easy choice for good protection. In addition, now that AVG has merged with Avast, I feel that having that backing of two antivirus organizations really allows for improved heuristics and virus definitions.
The ultimate version also includes a VPN to help secure your traffic and a password protection vault to help against keyloggers. It really is an all in one solution.
One quick note before I close this out however. Don't use a new key before you need it. I made a mistake in applying my new AVG key to my existing AVG install assuming that it would start when my current license expired. I was wrong. With 2 months remaining in my AVG from last year, it has overlapped my new AVG license on top of it... somewhat of a waste.
Without a doubt, AVG is the antivirus I use, hands down and I readily recommend it to anyone in the market.
