    Average Internet Security

I've been using this for about 2 weeks now. While this internet security suite offers tune up utilities on top of virus scanner and active protection, the utilities are average at best. Pros: Virus scanner is quick and non-intrusive. As with most, automatic updates runs quietly in the background. You can set up scheduled scans, quick scans, deep scans, boot file scans, and so on. Web scan prevents opening of malicious websites while email scan prevents unsafe emails from corruption your system. Menus are pretty explanatory and easy to navigate through. Cons: The tune up utility that comes with the scanner is better than nothing, but only slightly. With a defragger, registry scanner, duplicate file scanner, driver updater, plus more, you get a working version of these applications. They're slow compared to dedicated programs, and don't really provide much explanation as to what they're doing. You can go into settings and choose what you want it to skip when doing a tune-up, so that is nice for the longer winded items (like defrag). Other Thoughts: For the money, this is a good buy. If you dont care about the technical details and do most tune-ups while away, the cons I listed won't really affect you much. If you're constantly running specific optimizations or have multiple dedicated programs, you may want to skip the tune-up portion of this program.

Like other reputable anti-virus packages, AVG Ultimate provides robust protection for your system while doing so with minimal impact on system performance. This package offers a one-year subscription on an unlimited number of computers (PC and Mac) and phones (iOS and Android) which is renewable at the end of the subscription period. An unlimited number of computers and phones is unprecedented to the best of my knowledge! Some features that I viewed to be helpful include: automatic updates of virus definitions and AVG Ultimate software during the subscription period, "walling off" files from ransomware attacks, as well as behavioral analysis of threats with immediate containment and uploading for analysis by AVG. One final feature I'll mention is some utilitarian functions to clean-up and speed-up your computer(s) and phone(s). All in all, this is a nicely featured package that is well-suited for families that have multiple computers and phones.

AVG Ultimate is a great fully featured protection option that covers not only your PC but also your mobile devices. On the PC it is a fully functioning antivirus program with internet security built in, options to protect any internet purchases, and an optional tuneup to help clear clutter on your system to ensure that it runs optimally. The whole suite of programs has a very minimal draw on your system that is unnoticeable while doing common tasks on your computer. During gaming sessions I noticed no discernible issues or slowdowns due to this antivirus program. To top it all off it features a similar protections suite for all your mobile devices to ensure that your entire network of devices are secure and protected. The ultimate package allows you to protect unlimited devices so your entire family can be protected with this one purchase. I highly recommend AVG Ultimate for anyone looking for complete protection for their family or friends.

I have always loved AVG and Avast for their free antivirus solutions. They always performed fast and caught all if not most malware on my machines. So with this premium version my expectation is somewhat higher. The tune up module works well and had some nice suggestions for cleaning up junk files and improving battery life. The camera trap feature is definitely great for better phone theft recovery too. User interface is intuitive and sleek because it is very easy to read and navigate which reminds me of the Bitdefender one a lot. The scanning and detection is very good of course and takes minimal PC resources when in use. The key selling point is mostly the unlimited devices you can install and use this product on. For me personally AVG Ultimate is not worth a upgrade to me as I do not possess enough devices to make it a great price value. I already found the free version of AVG to be great and while the additional features are definitely nice to have it is not justified for the marginally better virus protection.

AVG Ultimate provides good protection in the Windows environment. I especially like and appreciate how easy the product was to install. Thus far, the protection is great. My only wish is that it were a permanent copy instead of a 1 year subscription which ends up to be costly over time.

Easy to install..... great dashboard... I loaded this to my MacBook Pro (2010 model).... no issues. I like the Cleaner program that comes with it... helped me locate duplicates and extra files that could be deleted to save me space. So far I am very happy with this....

So I consider myself a legitimate Information Technology person and I can tolerate a certain amount of troubleshooting to a point. What I don't tolerate is poor customer service, a broken product, and a website that doesn't work. So I ran into issues even before the installation process. I went to the website where I was to register the product following the steps that they had given me, and I at first had to reset my password because I previously had an account, that's not a problem and I'm not bothered by it, then I signed in, and the webpage had a loop on it and would not allow me to register my AVG with my profile. I thought that maybe it was just a weird thing with the website and it was registered so I went to the "My Products" page and it was not there. So I decided to try a different web browser, and I had the exact same issue. So I decided to reach out to their "Premium" Technical Support. They had me try clearing my cookies, which was something I had tried on my side as well just in case it was picking up loose files. He asked me my email and password, which I was uncomfortable with because I don't like giving out my password. He actually tried to register the product on his side, and he had the exact same issue. He put me on hold for around 5 minutes which is fine. Then he was going to transfer me to "Technical Support" at which point I was thinking, then "who are you?" He proceeded to do a cold transfer without explaining to the next technician what was going on. He had me try a different link than what is within the guide, but brought me to the same layout of site. I tried it from there, and still did not work. He wanted to remote into my PC even after the previous technician had the same issue. I could easily tell that this technician was some sort of computer illiterate even after I told him I do IT for a living. I promptly refused him and I hung up. I don't like being talked down to and I certainly was in that case. So I decided to find a loophole and get the product installed. So I found a place that I could download the installer on their website and I installed it that way, and my troubles didn't end there. The software didn't want to properly start the Firewall and Windows Firewall was blocking it so unwisely I disabled my firewall and restarted my PC and attempted to enable theirs, which still didn't work. After about half an hour to get it to work properly I decided to finally give up and wanted to write about my issues with AVG "Ultimate." For an IT person who has installed thousands of applications and many anti-viruses this has by far been my worst. I will never recommend AVG or any of their products following this experience.

I've been testing out the AVG Ultimate software to guard against any viruses or other threats against my mobile devices. Downloading and installing was a breeze. After installing I ran a scan to check for any potential threats and thankfully there were none. This product covers a broad range of mobile devices - from phones, PCs, Macs, and tablets. Also it doesn't matter if you have iOS, Android, or Windows - it pretty much covers everything. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good suite of software to protect your devices from any potential threats.

I've used AVG free in the past and at first it was a great free program. As it developed, it got bloated and really bogged down my system. Now with the chance to try the paid version, I'm curious to see if it does the same, either out of the gate or as it ages on my system. I've got a year to test it out and hopefully it's lightweight and easy on system resources. That way next year I can just subscribe and continue using it. If it's bloated, it won't even make it the free year. I'll have to uninstall it and go back to a free source or Microsoft's antivirus.

My only main complaint. Always seems that all antivirus software wants you to delete the others. This was no different. I would think by now they could work together. I rather have 2 or 3 or more antiviruses if I have them, on over just one. Always seems that one misses things another catches etc. that said, avg seems to work the best. Had a little issue though trying to get the Pc tune up to work. Over all satisfied and glad to have the paid version as it adds a lot more stuff that is useful then just the antivirus.

AVG is highly reputable company that has been offering free Antivirus Protection for years. The Ultimate is a fantastic easy to use product and comes with a very attractive price for one year if protection for all your devices from PCs, iPads, Macs and Android devices...that alone earns it 3-4 stars. But AVG Ultimate offers Firewall, Antivirus, Malware, Ransomware, Security for Webcams and the list goes on. Great company reputation along with a vast suite of protection features for all your devices.

Everyone needs system protection software... We all get lazy and just click away sometimes (even those of us that do this for a living. Simple download and install, able to use on ALL my devices. Catches things you don't even know could be a problem. Sometimes gets a false positive here and there, but those are easily addressible. If you have a device connected to the internet, then you need a good piece of protection software, and this one is solid and does the job well.

I've been using AVG on all of my devices for the past few weeks and love the fact that I do not have to do anything for it to update definitions. With the number of devices in my home, it is nice to buy one product for all of them without having to worry about whether I have enough licenses. It found a few files that apparently had viruses embedded in them, and now just runs silently in the background. I haven't had issues with slower performance like I have in the past.

The AVG Unlimited suite is fantastic protection for computer. I have a mixed home environment of PC/Mac, and it works really well for all the OS platforms. The application is easy to install, and updates are seamless. The management console is easy to use. Best of all, the AVG suite does not slow down your system. The CPU/Memory usage by the AVG suite (even during scans) is nominal. This is a good soliton that fits any current Mac/Windows/Android system.

The product itself is a very good antivirus product. It appears to be efficient and hasn't caused any issues with Windows 10. The console gives a good summary of the system status with recommendations. The part that isn't great is that it suggests performance enhancements that attempt to sell additional products. If works great for its intended purpose, but the built in sales calls are annoying. If it is going to give performance enhancement suggestions, the fixes should be included with the existing product.

When I got this, I was excited because they said it had provided a copy of the software for Mac and Windows. Well, it turns out the first offering for MAC is just an antivirus and not a full security suite as is offered for Windows. When I tried to run this, I got a checksum error and it would not run. I was trying to run this on MAC High Sierra, which may be part of the problem but I had downloaded the newest copy from the AVG website and had this checksum error with no install happening. The second offering for MAC is a freebie you can get on the MAC app store. So, then I was going to move onto the mobile stuff and for IOS to see what was offered, only to find there is nothing for IOS, only Android. I haven't gotten around to trying this on Windows yet, and I am hopeful it'll be a more useful adventure, but if you are buying this to use on MAC at all, you may be very disappointed. I would only purchase a full internet security suite for Windows or Mac, the old days of not worrying about Mac being infiltrated are over and therefore I feel AVG should step up their game and offer the full suite of services for Mac, Windows, IOS, and Android, so it is all the same. Not mentioning names, but other programs I've tried are all doing it this way - I don't want to put out the money only to find I'm only getting 1/2 or less of a program just because I have and use a Mac.

I've tried several computer protection software solutions. I found that AVG provides a great solution for a fair price. Installation was easy as I went to a URL and downloaded the software. What I like best is that AVG doesn't invade your screen with too many warnings and offers. Good product!

I used Norton but always liked AVG free product. This improves on it with other features on top of the anti virus software. It's not a resource hog like Norton has been and detects viruses like it should. Also this doesn't have a limit on how many devices and has products even for mobile phones
