One of the best films of 2018!

After "Avengers: Infinity War," I would say that "Bad Times at the El Royale" was my favorite film of 2018. Why? It has great actors and great writing--as well as a few catchy songs sung by one of the cast. A group of strangers are brought together by chance at a once-famous hotel on the California-Nevada border. And that ends up in multiple kinds of mayhem. At the El Royale, no one is what or who they seem to be.

Bad Times at the El Royale is a very deep thriller that keeps you guessing and highly entertained. This movie is not the usual movie of todays era where there is flash boom bang every few seconds. It has a flavor of Tarantino, though it is not quite as bloody as a typical Tarantino (though still quite bloody in parts).

Very interesting characters to say the least. Cinematography is wonderful as well as the soundtrack. Great blue ray copy and excellent sound. Some gruesome parts, but nothing to disturbing. Actual all actors did a fabulous job. I would recommend to my friends. A great escape for a few hours. Invest some time and witness a very different movie experience. Go back in time and enjoy.

    Underrated gem!

I absolutely loved this film! Great atmosphere, fun performances, very top notch production and witty writing that was very reminiscent of Tarantino’s work. It’s a cross between The Hateful Eight with the aesthetic of Pulp Fiction and a bit of The Cabin in the Woods (also from the same writer and director!) thrown in the mix. An overlooked gem that should be seen!

The story was nothing new but well told from a script that repeatedly rewinds to tell the same events from alternative perspectives, to dramatic cinematography and editing and to a cast that gives every moment their all. You could dismiss it as derivative, or you could surrender to a good time; the choice is yours.

This movie is a gem, it's like one of those under rated movies few people hear about, and you come across it and say...wow. A great blend of story telling, dialogue, gore, and mystery. Period correct and keeps you guessing through out All the actors pull their weight...and then some, We're going to watch this one several times I'm sure.

Good old school thriller with no crazy action. This movie was marketed as more of an action thriller but it is much more of a suspenseful drama thriller with a lot of dialogue. Reminded me of a Quentin Tarantino movie and I really enjoyed it. Great performances all around.

Flawed Ending but Still Strong Film

The film is solid and held my interest, but is not excellent due to a flawed ending. Was expecting everything to build up to more than it did, so I walked away feeling a bit disappointed. Still well done overall though. The music and the sound are the best aspects I feel.

If you like Cabin in the Woods, you like Bad Times at the El Royale. A great cast and a great story! Usually I can see things coming in movies like this, but it had more than one surprise for me when I first saw it. If you like mystery and thrillers, give this one a shot.

The first half of this movie is fantastic, and the storytelling reminds me of early Tarantino films. Unfortunately it becomes a lot more common halfway through the movie, but there are still some interesting surprises. Worth seeing, but not as great as it could have been

I honestly didn't know what to expect from this movie. Wasn't 'mainstream' but had good actors everywhere. A few twists and turns and a good ending made it well worth the time to watch. It'll end up being one of those movies that you'll buy when it's 10-12 bucks and realize it would have been good even when it first came out.

This is a Tarantino-esque dive into an enigma of conundrum. It has a great story, great visuals, set design, music, the works. An all-star studded cast of characters with depth, mystery, and ulterior motives. Need I say more? You should check in and find out for yourself. Enjoy your stay at the El Royale.

In a sea of sequels, prequels, and comic book films, it's nice to see something new and fresh. The ensemble cast does a great job at fleshing out a deeply rich story whilst never leaving the setting of the El Royale Hotel, a character unto itself. P.S.: If you liked this film, go see Knives Out!!!

Glad that I opted for the UHD/4K release with HDR! Colors are vibrant and shadow detail is above that of Blu-ray. Audio is more pronounced, with an encompassing and immersive sound field. I am confused as to why this movie did not do better at the box office.

This movie is a bit unusual, but the acting is great. This is another great performance by Jeff Bridges. Cynthia Erivo is a great talent and accented Jeff Bridges very well. Chris Hemsworth put in another great performance as well. He brings his character to life and almost becomes too real in his performance.

If you’re looking for a late night thriller this is the perfect choice. With many high class actors and a good plot, it will keep you locked in the entire way. The 4K resolution looks amazing with the dolby atmos... highly recommend this film

I love this movie. It is a great story and done so well. And a hidden treasure of the singing! And kudos to Best Buy. When this movie came out Target did not have it for a week after the release sate but Best Buy had it and for the same low price. Yay BB!

I would class this as a color noir black comedy. Excellent performances, striking visuals and a quirky script. The El Royale is based very loosely on the Cal Neva Club at Lake Tahoe. Once owned in part by Sinatra and visited by the Kennedy brothers. You'll see veiled references to this in the movie.

Bad times at the El Royale movie has a great cast, beautiful cinematography, and a interesting story with a lot of twists and turns told in an old desert Motel. I just like these types of movies, not everyone will though ! A fair amount of violence...
