The movie itself is a fun balance of mystery, drama, suspense, and even some comedy. The cast is fantastic, especially Dakota Johnson, Jeff Bridges, and John Hamm. The Blu Ray disc looks teriffic with sharp picture quality and great audio.

Great noir film set in 1969 at a run down hotel near Lake Tahoe where all the guests have dangerous secrets. This is reminiscent of a Tarantino flick without the over the top cartoony violence of Kill Bill. Plot twists should hold your interest and Jeff Bridges is as good as we expect him to be.

A surprisingly good film with plot twists and turns you never see coming. Great performances by an ensemble cast with stand outs from Jeff Bridges, Jon Hamm, Cynthia Erivo, Dakota fanning...oh well...the whole doggone cast brings it! A must-see.

I wasn't sure what to expect on mixed critic reviews (they're generally wrong anyway) but I bought this anyway based on a few friends saying they liked it. I very much enjoyed this film. The cast is terrific and their characters are all portrayed perfectly. This has a lot of re-watch value for me.

Left me guessing at least. My friends were very conflicted, but I loved it. Felt like a mystery, even though it was a very intense one where you were cautiously waiting for something crazy to happen. They waste no time in raising the stakes, and that intensity continues throughout.

I really enjoy this movie. For it taking place a majority of time in one location, it isn't a bother. The cast was excellent and Jeff Bridges gave a phenomenal performance. The soundtrack is spot on for the theming of the movie also. It kept me in suspense the whole movie.

Bad Times at the el Royale was FAR better than I expected it to be. It's chock full of twists, turns, and sometimes shocking surprises. It's totally original, thoroughly engaging, and definitely rewatchable. The 4K UHD version is well worth the extra coin if you have the suitable hardware.

Think Tarantino-lite and you’re not far off on what type of movie this is. All the actors are great even if a few get smaller roles than I may have liked. Chris Hemsworth is the standout for me. He hasn’t played a role like this before and he knocks it out the park!

la series of vignettes played out like a puzzle, and when all the pieces are in place it becomes a wild, captivating and entertaining story of seven strangers with secrets to bury and seeking Redemption in one way or another.

The best compliment I can give is that this film kept me guessing all the way to the end. I thought Cynthia Erivo was a standout and I wanted to see more of Jon Hamm's character. Everyone else was solid.

I will say, when I first saw this, and knowing Drew Goddard's prior film, I was expecting something supernatural to happen. which lead to a disappointing movie. once I understood that this was simply a noir flick, it made for a much more enjoyable watch. still a great movie

Honestly, I wanted to watch this movie in theaters but I never go the chance. I bought the blu-ray and still have not had the time to watch it. I can say that on rotten tomatoes it has really good reviews and it did receive high praise. Will try and update after watching.

Usually I'll wait years before we watching a movie this one you can actually go back and re-watch and enjoy it almost as much as the first time don't want to say anything don't want to give any plots away it is highly disturbing so make sure it's a mature audience

Particularly for the discounted price, this is a good buy. Lots of stars, decent performance, and interesting story line. Can get a little vicious in parts, but overall, a movie that I would recommend!

Compelling film that maintains interest and suspense even if the overly violent ending goes too far while not quite living up to the wonderfully long buildup. Very good, but not a masterpiece.

Great movie and solid presentation. Deeper blacks and definitely in some cases visible difference in color due to HDR, however this is a modest improvement from Blu-ray which is a reason for a 4 star review

This is a fun one. An intense little drama centered around themes of life and death, retribution, and second chances. The cast is wonderful, the script unique - Goddard has expanded his filmography nicely

A quirky movie for sure, but right up my alley. Visually this film is flawless hdr puts you right in the location...whether you want to be or not. Some sceens are graphic, again, right up my alley.

A lot of twist and turns this tells everyone's story not just the main cast but you can see how they all end up there and why. It does keep moving no real slow spots. Cast was great to watch.

This was a movie I took a risk on, not knowing what the plot was about, only the actors involved. To my surprise it was a delicious dark drama/thriller film in the same spirit as Brimstone.
