Let's get this out of the way: Beats (now owned by Apple) isn't going to win any awards when it comes to sound quality. That's not to say that these are bad but they definitely provide a sculpted, bass boosted sound signature that purists will frown upon. Personally, I enjoy the sound quality but wish there was a little more detail in the highs. The lows and mids come through quite nicely but the highs need a little work. They don't sound nearly as muddy as the older generation of Beats products. They do sound the same as the Solo 2 wireless headphones that preceded them. So, if you liked those, you'll like these. Rap, hip-hop, EDM, radio rock, dance, electronics, and pop music all benefit from the sculpted sound signature that these provide. Metal sounds OK but it would benefit from having the mids set back a little while turning up the highs. Some of the drums (mainly the cymbals and hi-hats) lose their detail with these. It's still very listenable but would benefit from more detail in the highs. I purchased the rose gold Solo3's for myself. I was initially worried that the color would be too pink but, in reality, it's actually more of a copper-brown color. I'm really enjoying the rose gold, these are some of the most stylish headphones I have ever used. I just hope that the white portions can keep their color and don't become dirty over time. The Solo3's have controls built into the left ear cup so that you can play/pause music, skip tracks or go back, fast forward and rewind, and bring up Siri or the Google assistant. The controls work nicely and I didn't have any issues with my iPhone 7 Plus or my Surface Pro 4. I do wish that the center button would bring up Cortana in Windows 10. I do like that the controls are sleek and hidden, you wouldn't even know they were built into the left earcup. I think it's a better option than what Sony, Sennheiser, V-Moda, Bose, and pretty much everyone else does (they normally have physical buttons on the sides of the earcups). Pairing with my iPhone 7 Plus was simple and easy. I simply turned the headphones on near my iPhone and they were automatically detected. I was able to pair them with my Surface Pro 4 but I had to follow the standard procedure. The W1 Bluetooth chip that Apple uses in the Solo3's provides a very solid experience. The range that it provides is unmatched by any other wireless headphone that I've used (I've probably gone through 25 different ones). I can have music playing on either my iPhone 7 Plus or my Surface Pro 4 and the headphones will work, flawlessly, all over my house and even outdoors. I was able to mow my lawn while listening to music on my Surface without the connection dropping out. That is really impressive and I have never experienced a pair of Bluetooth headphones with this kind of signal strength. My Apple Watch doesn't interfere with my iPhone either. I have used a couple of headphones where my Apple Watch would cause issues but not these. Apple really hit it out of the park when it comes to wireless connectivity. The Solo3's also have stellar battery life. I routinely get over 40 hours per charge out of mine. I normally listen to music 2 hours a day during the weekdays and I can easily get 5 weeks of use before I have to plug them in. That's not a big deal either. Normally, with wireless headphones, you would have to plug them in for a good 30-60 minutes before you would fill them enough to get you through a couple of hours. Not anymore. A 5-minute charge will get you a good 3 hours of playback, a 2 hour charge will completely fill these. That is truly impressive and beats every other wireless headphone on the market. Granted, these don't have noise cancellation and are on-ear instead of over-the-ear headphones. Still, it's rather impressive to go a whole month without worrying about recharging my headphones. Lastly, there's the comfort. A lot of people complain about these headphones saying that they aren't very comfortable and I guess they're right. At the same time, I haven't found any on-ear pair of headphones that are actually comfortable. Either they grip your ears tight and stay on or they are too loose and fall off, you can't have both. I had a pair of Bose SoundLink II on-ear headphones and they could never stay on. They were light but never gripped my head enough so the slightest of motions would send them off my head. The Solo3 headphones are the complete opposite. These securely stay on my head without issues. To me, this is fine and I would rather have on-ear headphones like this that stay put instead of adjusting my headphones every few minutes because they're slipping off. There's ample padding around the earcups and, honestly, I don't have any comfort issues. I am able to wear these for hours on end without taking a break. I'm not sure if my ears are just not physically sensitive, if I have a higher threshold for pain, or if reviewers are just being picky. These definitely don't clamp down on my ears like the Sol-Republic wireless headphones did, those would get uncomfortable to the point where I had to take them off every couple of hours. My only real complaint regarding the comfort is that my ears hurt while wearing these with sunglasses. That's the norm, for me, with on-ear headphones and one reason why I prefer earbuds. The Solo3's represent the first Apple-influenced headphones from Beats. Apple didn't change the design or the sound, both of which I was already a fan of with the Solo 2 wireless headphones. Instead they upgraded the internals of these headphones by using Apple's own W1 Bluetooth chip, which drastically increases efficiency and wireless range, and a slightly larger battery. I am surprised that Apple didn't switch these over to Lightning from micro-USB but I'm sure Android smartphone users are fine with that. These have a class-leading wireless range along with truly excellent battery life. The sound signature isn't for purists but these are fun to listen to. Bass is definitely boosted while the detail in the highs takes a backseat. I'm not sure if these are worth the $299 retail. At that price, I feel like you're only paying for the solid wireless technology along with the battery life. However, at Best Buy's sale price ($250), I think these are well worth it. My favorite color is the rose gold. It feels a little awkward listening to a band like Lamb of God through rose gold headphones but it works, the color doesn't affect the sound quality. My wife likes her standard gold pair of Solo3 headphones.

Beats are products that people will either love or hate. Beyond all that I have enjoyed the products by Dre I've used. Heavy bass but over priced, in my opinion. That is why I only try out products placed on sale. Mind you, that's on sale and not refurbished. I've had a set of Solo2 wired headphones and wanted to go wireless. This set, in this color became ridiculously cheap (comparatively) and I didn't mind the color so I got them. I'm so glad I did! First, not surprising, the sound is basically the same between wired and wireless. It's the other features that make them amazing. Second, that range! While wearing these around the house I have lost my phone because the bluetooth range had me all over that I forgot where last I had my phone. My favorite feature is that, since Beats is a subsidiary of Apple the products are so integrated into the ecosystem. I set up these headphones on my phone and immediately every Mac, iPad, Apple device I have is also paired with them. All it takes is a quick click from a menu and the headphones switch from one device to another. Super easy and cool. Equally as amazing is the battery life. I have been using a set of Powerbeats which are so small and compact meaning only as much battery as could be fit in. These being larger there's more stored power. I have gone days without charging these, probably a third less than the Powerbeats (which weren't bad in the first place). There's a cable to use these as a wired set if the juice runs out but I don't think I've used it once. The worst part is that one may forget they even need to be charged. Microphone picks up voice well when on a call or using Siri. When I bought the Solo2 wired set I was not ecstatic with the purchase. These, I have no buyers remorse. There are a few caveats though. There are no skip or back buttons to control music. That was a let down. The worst I've experienced though is that they feel plastic cheap, particularly when tapping the button to pause/play and enable Siri. It's on the cup and right next to your ear. There's just a cheap click heard that ruins the overall high end experience. What I have found with the Beats brand is that if you're not stuck on a particular color you can find a set for a great price from time to time. These are my best purchase yet. Wireless is definitely the best way to go.

I was not a big fan of Beats back when they first came on the scene, because they just have an overwhelming amount of bass - so I believed everyone else on the internet when they said they hadn't really changed - until I saw the 90th anniversary Mickey Mouse edition released. We are HUGE Disney fans, so I naturally kicked around having to try them. I went to the store and tried on the Beats Solo3 Wireless so many times and decided that they actually sound pretty good, but I was still torn - until my Fiancé surprised me with them for an early Valentines' day gift because she knew I'd been kicking them around. They haven't left my ears since - seriously. I've worn them all week at my desk. I've used them for meetings, music, phone calls, you name it. 4 days in and we're still on 50% battery life. They are extremely FUN to listen to. I know they're not reference quality, but I really enjoy the sound signature on these for almost everything I listen to. My only complaint is that they make my ears a bit sore and I have to give them a rest every few hours, but I"m slowly getting used to them - I've never had on-ear headphones before. I used to use Bose QC35, exclusively, and those haven't left my bag since I got these - they might come out for travel, but after the fun sound of these, it's hard to use anything else. Nice work on these, Apple. Impressive battery life, decent, fun sound, and an awesome Mickey Mouse design. Really enjoying them!

Just to be clear I am over 40 and close to 50 and I am not a regular listener of Rap/ Hip hop. I do listen to EDM regularly though. I had originally thought to upgrade my Bose QC 15 Headphones to the Bose QC 35. I ordered them and picked them up. On my way to pick them up I figured I would go to the sample area and give them a listen after all no commitment until I pick them up. They essentially sounded the same as my QC15 headphones, maybe a little more depth to the sound which is a good thing. After I picked up my QC35 headphones I wandered over the Beats Area smirked and put on the Solo 3 Wireless. I was surprised how great they really sounded. They had a bass punch that the Bose lacked. I am far from a bass head but I do enjoy the punch. I will say that some of the mids do get muddy but just a bit, but not terrible. Plus, on sale they were $100 cheaper, so I took a chance and exchanged them, I figured I can bring them back if I don't like them. Pairing was super easy with iOS, the phone asks if you want to pair then pairs then transfers that pairing to all iOS and Mac devices. The range on these things is also unreal, as is I am told the battery life (just got them so I don't know yet). I am not sure if the QC 35 is better than the Solo 3 wireless, but I know it isn't $100 better.

I love my beats solo 3 headphones for a few reasons. Some are important, like how insanely easy it is to sync these to my other apple products. It's sort of like magic, only real. Another important feature is the insane battery life! I can listen to my headphones all day and not have to think about charging. However, if I did for some reason need to charge them in the middle of a dance party (aka the laundry) I can plug them in for 5 minutes (basically a potty break) and start partying again (cleaning the house). You may be thinking that I am just rehashing the information you got from the description, you are partly right. I did just look at the description because I forgot how long the battery lasts and the the exact stats of the quick charge because I never have to think about it. Why? Because this battery last so freaking long I forget that they even require a charge. Ok, that is not entirely true but I think you get the point I am trying to make. Another important thing to know is how comfortable they are. Here is why I was one less on the star rating. In the Beats headphones defense I have always had issues with ANY on-the-ear headphones. These Beats are probably the most comfortable on-the-ear headphones I have owned. And I have owned quite a few over the years. However, I do still find myself needing to give my ears a break from time to time. Moving on to the not so important thing I love about my headphones. Well, actually, to me, this is very important because I love to have my devices look amazing and it is a HUGE bonus when I can get them all in the same color. And by same color I mean a legit same color, not a sort-of-close-enough same color. I currently have a MacBook, iPhone 7+, and my Beats Solo3 in the color of rose gold (my apple watch would be rose gold but they were sold out at the time...thanks for that Best Buy. Goodness) It's the small details that make me happy. :) So, in short conclusion to this somewhat long review...I love my Beats Solo3 headphones. They are essential to helping me rock out during chores or cranking through some serious research papers for college (Except for this literature class I am currently in, not even the Pirate of the Caribbean soundtrack can get me through this one. Oi).

I tried a silver pair and returned it for lack of bass end, but decided to try again. I think the silver was a bad set. I'm super disappointed these don't have a Best Buy protection plan available. These have a really good sound that really seems to kick in at about 1/2 volume on an iPhone, which seems typical for larger headphones. I'm still disappointed in the fit though. I wanted a great over ear set so I wouldn't have to fight with ear buds falling out when mowing the lawn, running, or lifting in the gym. I have a fairly large head (trucker caps almost run out of notches on the back) and it's a bit loose. I can wear them without extending the ears at all, which makes me really hesitant to recommend this to youngsters or to women. I don't know who these were made for with such atrociously large heads... This really comes into play when I start to bend over or when I get sweaty. The things start to slide back when down for bench press. They do fairly well while running. Mowing the lawn is great until I get sweaty. The padded material gets slick with sweat and fell off while mowing the lawn. The battery really is amazing. I've used it for about a month with mowing the lawn, running, and gym workouts with the initial factory charge.

I bought these as a replacement my cheap $25 bluetooth headphones. What a world of difference. Every genre of music sounds fantastic. They are a bit heavy but you get used to the weight. The controls are on the side of the headphones and are easy to use. They pair very easily with Apple products and even with Android products. I found there was a bit of delay with the signal for Kindle HD 10 but I had that same problem with my old headphones. However, the trouble didn't last long. I wore the headphones on a long 2 mile walk and although my ears got warm they did not sweat profusely. I wouldn't use them for a hard workout though. I wish the ear cups were a bit bigger because while I was walking there was a bit of pressure on my ears. They are great for sitting at home and even some light housework. The range is decent but the signal will start to break up around 500 feet away. I would recommend an arm band for your phone or mp3 device if you would like to walk around the house with them and still have good signal. They reduce a lot of exterior noise so they could be good on an airplane or library.

I went into this purchase somewhat skeptical because of the reputation that Beats headphones have for being very bass-heavy or muddy. I read a lot of reviews that said the Solo3 had a much more balanced sound, so I decided to give them a try. Wow. These headphones sound great - much better than I had anticipated. There is still a punch to the bass, but it is not nearly as muddy or overpowering as I had expected. I will say that if you plan on listening to a lot of classical or jazz, these may not be the headphones for you, but for anything upbeat like pop, rock, hip-hop, r&b, these cans are pretty great. They do get a bit uncomfortable after extended wear, as the pressure that keeps them nice and snug on your ears also tends to pinch the top of the ear a bit, but I've read that this will relax over time as you break them in. The battery life is incredible. I bought the headphones in early March and nearly 2 months later, I've only charged them maybe 4 times. I bought these specifically for a trip I had to take for work, and I didn't end up needing to charge them at all on during my week-long travel. Wireless performance is fantastic - range is great and pairing could not be any simpler. Full price is a little steep, but so far, I feel like they've been a worthwhile purchase. Recommended.

I was looking for a pair of headphones that I could use in my home because I’m not a fan not being able to hear what’s going on around me when walking in the street but with the Black Friday pricing these were perfect. They are comfortable but may feel heavy if you are used to wearing earbuds. The cushions are nice and soft and the head band feels of a good quality.(not indestructible but not cheap either).Sound is good but I wish there was more bass.I found videos on YouTube to change the equalizer settings which added some bass but dropped the volume of the vocals.I would have to turn the volume up past 50% to hear the quality I was expecting at a lower volume. The battery life is great ! I can use them for hours without charging it and when you need to charge they charge pretty fast.$299.99 is too expensive for these $209.99 made it worth it.Bluetooth seems great I can walk throughout my whole apartment without them cutting in and out.I wish the case was a little harder But that’s just me being picky. You have to take your time putting them in because the headphones just clear then case .Thats all I got for now hopefully they last a long time(fingers crossed).

My wife and I have each have one of these and we love the sound quality. The battery life is excellent. It lasts about 12 days of regular use of 3 to 4 hours. Also, the reach of these are beyond expectations with good quality and near zero drops. We have had a couple of issues though. Since we have two of these, sometimes if I'm in the same room as my wife an turn on mine, hers will immediately stop playing and can be difficult to get connected to her iPad again. I thought it was just an hers, but I had the same experience a couple weeks later and had to reboot my iPad to get it to recognize my headset again. It's annoying and we can't figure out the problem. Also, I seem to have trouble getting it to pause with some of my audio books and it will skip forward or backwards. It's been difficult to find the sweet spot I need to just pause it with some applications. It would be nice to have a physical groove or something to help me find it. Also, when you're wearing the on-ear headset with glasses for a while it can hurt the ear. But this is my fault for choosing this style verses the over the ear version.

I already own a set of Beats wired Studio headphones and Bluetooth Powerbeats so I am familiar with the brand. I purchased the Solo 3's as an extra set of headphones for the gym or watching tv. The sound from them is good and very clear. You can definitely hear the separation in the different instruments. The bass can be somewhat over powering depending on your EQ set up. My only issue with these are that I sometimes have a difficult time shutting them off. You are supposed to hold the power button down for a second or so and they should shut right down. That doesn't always happen. Sometimes when I hold the power button down the headphones will disconnect from the device but will not shut off. The power lights will just continually flash. I have had to try and retry to get them to shut down. It has only happened a few times but if it continues then I will bring them back to apple for sure and get them fixed or replaced. Over all they are a very comfortable and good sounding set of headphones. You won't be disappointed with the sound quality. If you don't like a lot of bass then hopefully you have an EQ on your device or phone to change the setting.

I will readily admit that we bought these headphones for my girlfriend as she did not have a pair for when we travel. We currently own a set of the original Bose Quiet Comfort headphones, a pair of Marley Rebel BT's, and one pair of JLAB Flex BT's. The Beats Solo 3's I would say have some of the best sound out of the three. They are lightweight, and very comfortable on your head. Overall I would say that the usability of the headphones is good as well, given that there are some very difficult headsets to figure out what buttons are where and how to pair it. The one complaint that we have is that these are not noise cancelling headphones. I am sorry but the sound is not that much better than the JLAB Flex's which are $100 cheaper and have a noise cancelling feature. In conclusion, these are a wonderful set of headphones that lack a single feature that would put them well ahead of other offerings. At $250 they should have the noise cancelling feature at this point.

Bought these on sale. For the sale price I am very satisfied with the headphones. This is my first pair of beats headphones and I am really liking them. At MSRP I am not so sure I would have bought them but for the sale price I feel they are reasonably good. The sound quality is pretty good in my opinion. In fact, better than any other phones I currently own. Better than my $250 Turtle Beaches by far. Apples W1 chip is simply amazing! I own a Pair of AirPods as well and the connectivity and range is simply astounding! (I am using them with Apple products, iPhone 7, Mac, iPod and iPad) Durability remains to be determined. They have some heft to them making them feel like a quality set, but we will have to see how they stand up over time. I am completely satisfied with the sound quality. Are they going to compete with a $400 pair of SENNHEISER's. No. Do they sound really good? Yes. Battery life and wireless range are phenomenal (Thanks to Apples W1 chip). Would I pay full MSRP? Not likely.

had these headphones for a month now, and they actually are really great headphones. are they $300 great? eh not so much. sound is very crisp and clear; bass is good but not as powerful as I thought they would be, but I love bass so I had high expectations. ambient noise is minimal when these are on. sound can get pretty loud when on wireless and connectivity is awesome. after the first pairing, once headphones are on and Bluetooth enabled, headphones are connected within seconds. battery life is really nice. I have only had to charge them once in a month and I use them 4-5 times a week. sweat isn't much of an issue as I thought it would be. the cups to get sweat on them but I make sure to clean them after every workout. even when sweat is present, these do not fall off my head when doing bent over or lying exercises. they do well for runners as well. I've worn them sprinting and they never moved. overall, I would recommend these but try to find them on a deal somehow, I wouldn't pay full retail for them.

I’ve had a few different beats type headphones but this is the first on the ear one of this brand I’ve purchased. I was lucky to get them on sale because I would not have paid full price for them. I like the sound quality and volume, great for hitting the gym. My main issue is they aren’t very snug on my head. They are at the lowest size and if I lay down for bench press they move. This makes running a nuisance as well. Another thing I think would be nice would be showing the battery percentage on your phone so you don’t have to try to look at the lights. Overall they were a good purchase on sale. Still wouldn’t pay full price for them though.

First off, I was really hesitant to buy these because of the price. I have never spent anywhere near as much money as these cost for any type of headphones, but I am so glad I did! The sound quality is AMAZING! You feel like the musicians are in the same room as you giving a concert. Movies also sound like you are in the theater and have soround sound audio. I hate dealing with earbuds because they constantly fall out of my ears when I'm jogging, so that is what originally got me to look at Beats. I also love that they are wireless, because I get super annoyed by headphone cords when I'm trying to work out. The only negative feedback I will give for these is that I wish they fit a woman's head better. My headphones are not extended at all, and still fit a little loose on the head. Not enough where it is bothersome, but I still wish it could be just a tad snugger for security purposes. Overall, this was a great buy, and I highly recommend these headphones.

Good headphones if you don't need noise cancelling. With music on, they pretty much do cancel out most background noises. I use them to stay focused at work. The wireless capability is one of the better features so you're not strangling yourself on the wires or accidentally yanking them out of a phone/PC. And the range on them is fairly decent. I can go several rooms away from my phone and still have perfect playback. I'm having difficulty getting them to wirelessly connect to my Chromebook (so docking 1 star). It may not be a manufacturer issue on the headphones themselves, but since Beats is now owned by Apple, they are giving preferential software treatment to other Apple products, so not out of the realm of possibility that they don't work as well with Android systems due to this. Thankfully, there is a wired connection included that I can use with my Chromebook.

Yes, they're Beats. They tend to get a bad wrap, but these really are good headphones. They're on-ear, which means they're smaller than over-ear, but not as annoying as in-ear. Apple's new W1 chip and the integrated automatic connection to all devices using the same iCloud account make these extremely convenient. I use a few mac computers between home and work, plus my iPhone and iPad. Connecting these to my iPhone the first time was simple, and now they are automatically paired with all of my other devices. The 40-hour battery is amazing and lasts me well beyond a week. The dual microphones are really pretty excellent for a set of bluetooth headphones. While $300 sounds steep for headphones, when you consider that you'll have them for 5+ years, $60 a year isn't really too bad. Well worth the money.

Got these beats solo 3 in rose gold for my birthday and they are pretty awesome. I read some things about it not working the same for Android as ios but here is what I see. On my note 5 all I have to do is turn beats on and it automatically connects. The range is insane. I can leave my phone inside and go out to street (around another house) and not lose connection. I have yet to charge it but I also mostly use the cord. The reason I use the cord is because when connected via Bluetooth to my Note 5 the volume will not go above what's seems to me about 40% of what it is WITH the cord. I connected my beats to a friends iphone wirelessly and got 100% sound. Pretty bummed about that. When the wire is connected the skip song and whatnot sometimes won't work which also sucks but I kinda wonder if that isn't user error. I personally love them but it seems to me would definitely be best with iPhone.

Got these headphones for my wife but decided try them out. Beats being ultra popular and mainstream, I figured they would be overrated. To my surprise, I found these headphones to be solid and get quite loud. Although I find this product to be a bit on the bassy side and a little muddy, It's actually quite good if you are into Hip Hop and Rock, for what it is. However, If you are into electronic music with a lot of layers, these are probably not the best choice. Comfort-wise they aren't the best, but I didn't find them to be uncomfortable either. Battery-life is very good, will get at least a days worth of heavy use on battery. All in all, solid headphones that are fashionable.
