These are my new headphones for everything!

I'm somewhat of a headphone connoisseur. I own a staggering six pair of premium-quality Bluetooth headphones that I've purchased since 2014, all of them supporting at least Bluetooth 4.0. So when I give a recommendation stating that I'm now using a pair of Bluetooth headphones exclusively and the rest are gathering dust, that has to mean something. First of all, let me get this out of the way: I use Bluetooth headphones excessively and for a variety of purposes. I am wearing them for about 8 to 10 hours per day on weekdays, and 12 to 16 hours on weekends. I detached myself permanently from headphone wires in about 2012 and have been looking for better and better headphones ever since. The main things I look for in a pair of Bluetooth headphones are: portability; durability; ease of pairing to all my devices and switching between devices; signal strength and reliability over moderate distances; and of course, audio quality. I also care about the little quality of life things, like the absence of loud and irritating "pop" noises when the headphones switch from actively playing audio to standby mode, and the ability for the headphones to drown out at least some of the background noise for activities like public transportation commuting and trying to work in a busy office. In almost all categories, the Beats Solo3 Wireless are as good or better than the competition, even though they only cost half as much as I usually pay for high-end Bluetooth headphones (I usually pay around $500). Most of what makes these headphones amazing originates from their Apple W1 Bluetooth chipset. This chip has an incredible ability to instantly and effortlessly pair between my different Apple and non-Apple devices, and switching between them is easier than it is with any other pair of Bluetooth headphones I've ever owned. This is insanely important for me, because I use them with my iPhone for phone calls, my Macbook Pro and Alienware laptop for listening to music and gaming, my iPad for watching videos, and my desktop's Bluetooth receiver for gaming. I think I switch between Bluetooth devices about 6 times a day, and I have to constantly fight and struggle and re-pair and unpair, etc. sometimes for minutes at a time to switch devices with any other pair of headphones.... except for these special headphones. Bluetooth is supposed to be an open standard where all the vendors participate and can get equal access to making their headphones compatible with computing devices like phones, tablets and computers. But in reality, it appears that Apple and Beats have cornered the market on producing headphones that are maximally compatible, reliable, and easy to pair and switch around. And I say that as someone who extensively uses my Beats headphones with NON-Apple devices, such as Windows PCs! I don't know how to put it differently: these are simply awesome. The audio quality is fine; I think the audio quality isn't noticeably worse than my $500 Beoplay headphones. And while there's no Active Noise Cancelling (which I DO appreciate on my Beoplay pair), I've learned to live without it: I'm slightly more aware of my environment without ANC, which can actually be a good thing, and the passive canceling on these is pretty good for those annoyingly loud noises in the environment, most of the time. Oh, and as far as range and dropouts? I often leave my iDevices or PCs sitting on my desk and move across the hallway, into the bathroom while listening to a podcast or video, and I've never once heard a single dropout with any of my devices. I can't claim the same flawless experience with competition from Beoplay or Sennheiser or Meelectronics. I really can't praise these headphones enough. The only thing I would like to see done differently in a subsequent release would be a sturdier, less plastic, more premium materials type design, maybe some of that magnesium alloy they use to build the sturdy chassis of ThinkPads. Or maybe the aluminum that they use to build iPhones. That would be awesome. I feel like I have to treat my Beats very gently or they're liable to fall apart. So durability is definitely a concern long-term. But as long as they last, I'll definitely enjoy the electronic internals of these headphones being as close to perfection as I've ever seen in a pair of wireless headphones that is compatible with a wide array of devices. Oh, and it helps that the battery life is basically the best on the market for any kind of Bluetooth headphones based on my research. Other vendors have tied Beats in expected battery life, but none have exceeded them by any significant margin. So if you don't like having to charge your headphones daily, these are one of maybe 3 or 4 different models of headphones that you can buy today with that kind of insane battery life. Just a short couple of years ago, I had a perception of Beats as a brand that was completely out of touch with what consumers wanted, offering anemically low battery life around 8 hours, with out of date Bluetooth protocol support, poor codec support, and limited compatibility. This product is the polar opposite of that in every way, and I couldn't possibly be happier. My quality of life is a little bit better each and every day because of this product, and I like them so much that I bought a second pair for use exclusively at work, so I don't have to risk damaging my Beats in transit.

Grown up sound and great wireless

I have to make an admission up front: I am a Bose fan. Headphones... earbuds... portable speakers... mine usually has a Bose nameplate on it. I have avoided buying Beats products for years because of the Beats snobbery that I developed in the early days of Beats headphones. They had a reputation for boomy overdone bass and a popularity with listeners who are young enough to be my grandchildren. Then I tried the Beats Solo 3. These have a much more grown up sound than I ever expected from a Beats product. They sound great... maybe not for a "critical" listener, but I think that's overblown anyway. I love clear crisp sound, but I'm not going to be ridiculously demanding. But that W1 wireless chip! OMG is that thing going to change the Bluetooth market! I can almost guarantee that it will change the way that you listen to your music. The low power consumption, range, and connection stability are so far above anything else on the market that I'd bet the competition is scrambling to catch up. I routinely leave my iPhone plugged into the charger in my house while I roam around doing things inside. I have gotten accustomed to positioning myself so that the Bluetooth radio faces the phone, otherwise the music drops out or stutters when I get very far away. But the Solo 3's never falter until you get far far away from them. In fact, I forgot that I was wearing them and walked outside to get the mail... and got sidetracked with something in my yard. I had walked to the far end of the yard before I realized that I was still listening to music streaming from my phone inside the house... easily 150-200 feet away! And I was skeptical about the claim of 40 hours on a battery charge. I haven't run them dry yet, but I did listen all day at work and after 6 solid hours of listening the battery meter on my iPhone reported that they'd gone from 100% down to 91% charged. My doubts are lessening. I haven't used the Fast Fuel feature yet, but the claim is that a 5 minute charge will give you 3 hours of listening time. If that's true, that's a huge benefit. So with the grown up sound and great W1 wireless chipset features... maybe I'm not such a Bose fanboy any more.

While Beats bashing is prevalent on YouTube and the web, most of that comes from when the were made by Monster previous to the Apple purchase, Course their third offering is completely different under the hood. And found them to sound better or equal in Sound quality and certainly louder if that is your preference. One of the top headphones made by Sennheiser sound a little better but less volume 20-30% less IMO. And those list for 399.00. I bought them discounted but have less Bluetooth range than the Beats due to Apples W1 chip which is exclusive to Apple by a patent. Bose suffers the same issue of low Bass and lower volumes and are considered a flat signature I bought the Solo 3 at Best Buy after Black Friday for 50% off. Because the are on the ear they are not as comfortable after a break in period they become better but not to the level of Bose or Sennheisers or Sony which also suffers from lower sound levels. I am 63 and dont listen at ear damaging levels. But some music you get of the web is recorded at lower levels and need more amplification. I Sam not hard of hearing so not an issue. The Beats at the price I bought at Best Buy made it couldn’t pass it up. So I had to clamp them around a cardboard Box to loose up the headband for less clamping pressure, I have an average sized head and Ears, so if You have a small head or a child they will probably be just fine. I just purchased the Studio 3 version with noise canceling and the are over the ear instead of on the ear that will aid in comfort. But headphone comfort is very subjective for obvious reason. Jus make sure you buy them on sale, Because the Bose are the King of comfort, Also found at Best Buy for around 350.00. But Best Buy’s policy cant be beat...you can take them back.

It's not often that I'm so satisfied with a purchase that I write a review, so while this will be long I promise it'll be detailed and relevant info. This is my second pair of Beats Solo headphones, the first being from the "Drenched in (insert color here)" collection. That first pair impressed me, but these absolutely blew me away. The wireless capability of these headphones is second to none. Since Beats is now owned by Apple, the sync process is as easy and seamless as it gets if you're using Apple products. They connected to my iPhone 7/Macbook Air instantly when put in pairing mode. The sound quality (especially compared to past models) is phenomenal. They have significantly improved the bass without sacrificing the highs. Every song sounds clearer than I've ever heard it. They hardly leak any sound at all, and the ear cups are much more comfortable than they used to be. The build quality has also greatly improved, the cheap plastic is gone and has been replaced by one that feels much more durable. Both the size adjustment and that "snap" that happens when you open the headphones all the way also feel much sturdier than before. The last thing to mention is the battery life, it's ridiculous. I've had them over a week now and only needed charging once, which was right out of the box. I'm only down to 70% and I've used them daily. You will not be disappointed with these headphones. They're true to the saying you see when you open the box: they'll change the way you hear sound.

Bought these a few month ago and I must say I'm extremely impressed and find them a great value especially for those who have Apple Music since they come with 3 free months. Also the open box makes the value unbeatable imo. These headphones are for people who want a great (not best) quality sound, fantastic fit and finish, best looks in class with lots of comfort. Who these aren't ideal for: those who want extremely crisp and neutral sounds. But those people should be buying over ear open backs anyways for A lot more. Sound: surprisingly good better than I expected coming from more neutral headphones like jaybird x2s and klipsh I wasn the sure how I'd feel about the extra lows. I got used to them pretty quick but the iphones built in EQ easily makes up for any adjustments I need when listening to say ed Sheran ect. I find non hip hop listeners are impressed with sound quality when the EQ is set to flat or other lower base options. So when choosing the appropriate setting the sound will always be fantastic. Comfort: 4/5. Honestly on ear are a bit uncomfortable. Pads are soft and very high quality but the pressure on my ears isn't my favorite for 2 hour sessions but easily manageable. If I was gonna regularly have headphones on that long I'd buy over ear if style wasn't a big deal. Looks : 5/5 best looking period 5 min of charging when it's dead is 3 hours playback which is great. Signal is very strong and never a problem. Honestly I think these headphones deserve perfect scores. They are perfect for people who want stylish, non combursome, great funcuationality with very good all around sound especially with bass heavy genres. Remember the bass can easily be turned down in your iPhone music settings which I do if I'm listening to indie ect.

I'm a huge headphone nerd and I've owned tons... I have the wired Beats Solo 2 and while they sounded OK I never used them much on my iPhone since I always used Bluetooth. I didn't purchase the Solo 2 Wireless because they were overpriced for what you get. Well that story has changed with the Solo 3 Wireless. The 40 hour battery life lets me go 2 weeks or more without recharging and the fast fuel feature recharges them super quick. I haven't worried about them running out of juice at all! What's also interesting is that you can plug in and charge while you're still using them at a desk if you want to top them off without interrupting your music. The W1 chip also allowed me to walk twice as far from my phone while at work. It's not even an exaggeration. With my other Bluetooth headphones I could only go about 40 feed behind a wall and I'd start getting cut outs. I've only had the Solo 3 cut out once and it was because I went over to use the microwave at my work and I was through 2 walls and at least 80 feet away. It didn't cut out until I turned the microwave on. I'm assuming that they use a similar radio frequency. As a personal preference I suggest getting the Matte black over glossy. The glossy one feels OK but it's a disgusting fingerprint magnet. The Matte looks classy and "tough" even though it is still just plastic. The build quality is pretty good in my opinion and there were no squeaks from the hinges and everything felt solid. The sound quality is slightly better than the Solo 2, tuned for better clarity and slightly less bass. These are the Beats Solos perfected!

I don't usually like to do reviews but I decided I absolutely had to on this product . I purchased these Headphones as a Christmas present to myself. I have heard so many good things about them and after reading the reviews I decided to buy them for myself and I must say it has been the best thing I have ever bought myself. I absolutely love these headphones not only is the sound quality awesome the fact that their wireless is a bonus and they match my phone perfectly as I have the rose gold iPhone 6s . The only negative thing I would have to say about them is I had a hard time at first plugging them into the charger and I ended up scratching them a little bit but other than that they have been great! I can't believe how far away you can use them from your phone or device I have literally walked all the way to the other side of my house and they still work not to mention how many hours you can use them without charging them . I definitely would recommend these to anyone who is thinking about purchasing them they are as good as they say they are!

I have had a pair of wired Beats Solo 2's for around 4 years and I really like them. I am not an audiophile however I am picky about sound. The music I listen to is mostly electronic, industrial, rock and metal so I like to have clarity throughout the range, but also enjoy having deep bass without it getting muddy. When it became time to upgrade to wireless headphones I decided to give the Solo 3's a try especially since they have the new Apple W1 chip in them which makes pairing to all of my Apple devices a breeze. They also work well with my MS Surface Pro 3. Previous to getting these I have experimented with using bluetooth adapters to enable my older Solo 2's to connect wirelessly, however even with my nicest BT 4.0 adapters I still got a lot of high pitched hiss. I am extremely pleased to say that the Solo 3's do not have any hiss. The battery life is phenomenal. I use them every day in the office. Typically they're playing music for around 3 - 4 hours a day and just normal computer audio otherwise so they're typically on for around 9 hours at a time. I tend to charge them once a week. The audio quality and overall physical construction quality of the Solo 3's are also definitely improved over the already great Solo 2 HDs. If you like the sound of Beats headphones you will be extremely pleased with a purchase of these.

I was contemplating on purchasing these because of reviews I’ve seen on the internet. I watched dozens of review videos on YouTube to determine whether or not I should buy them. Finally made my purchase online and picked it up from my local Best Buy. I’m sooooo glad I made this decision!!!! I see a lot of people talk about how Beats products have too much bass, but honestly these are a huge step-up from the originally Beats that were made by Monster Cable. Highs, Mids, & Lows are all clear in my opinion. If you listen to Hip Hop or EDM you’ll definitely love these headphones. If you’re an Apple user like I am, these headphones are a plus! While Bluetooth is turned on along with your Beats headphones, they automatically when you hold them close to each other. No lie, I left my phone in the house and walked to the corner store with no drop outs. CLUTCH!!!! Love the build. Even though the majority is plastic, it feels like a “rich plastic”. The on-ear isn’t a huge issue for me as it is for other. My ears don’t hurt but they usually sweat after a half hour or so. Again, this isn’t a big issue for me. I also like that even when the Bluetooth dies, you can still use the headphones with the cord. I just bought this so I can’t say too much about the battery life, but I’m pretty sure it lives up to the 40 hour play. Hope this helps! I also want to thank the kind employees at my local Best Buy!!

I would say my rating is more of a 4.5 but I gave it 5 stars since they work so well. I have had beats from the beginning 10 years ago. I have the original solo's from monster and they still work. I really liked my wired studio 2.0 so I bought the wireless studio 2.0 and returned them the next day. The sound was very muddy and it seemed worse with the cord connected. I saw the reviews on best buy with the Solo 3 wireless and took a chance on them. Sound quality is clear and was a surprise. I haven't been able to put them down. Now these are not going to give you reference style sound like a $500-1k headphones and I don't expect them to. I will say they are quite good for what they are and I have heard a wide range of cans. They do sound slightly better with the cord plugged in as do most headphones. These head phones sit on your ear so to some it might get a bit uncomfortable over a long period of time. They definitely are not as comfortable as the solo HDs. They also tend to get a bit warmer on your ear since they sit on them. I feel these are light and most people will be able to wear them for a period of time. . I got them on sale in the gray color.

I had an older corded version of the Beats Solo headphone (Beat Solo HD) so was excited to go cordless. I love these headphones! W/ my other bluetooth device I can go a couple of rooms and start loosing signal. W/ this headphone I can almost get to my neighbors house. The range, plus the 40-hour battery life, and the quick charge (5-minutes gets you 3-hours) is what sold me on this headphone. I use my headphone mainly for conference calls and it's great! Cons: I wish the charging cable was lightening instead of micro USB so that I could pack only one cable on trips (i.e. the same cable to charge my phone and headphones). Nice touch: The fact that if my headphones are dead and there is no power source, I'm able to connect a headphone-jack to headphone jack cable and keep using my headphones.

Very impressed. I was a little hesitant to buy given the price point, but I'm very glad I did. From the airport to the gym to home, from music to movies to TV, these are great, versatile headphones. The sound is very balanced, and I love that when watching a movie or TV, there's definitely a surround sound effect. Like most Apple products, controls are very intuitive (mostly from the left ear cup). The weight is enough that they feel secure on your head, but still unobtrusive. I wasn't sure how I'd feel with on-ear vs. over-ear headphones, but these are very comfortable, even when wearing glasses and earrings. Apple's W1 chip makes pairing these with any Apple device a snap (literally takes under ten seconds), and pairing with other devices is easy as well. At 40 hours, battery life can't be beat. I'm not sure of the max distance for the Bluetooth connection, but I did try leaving my phone upstairs while I did housework downstairs, and I heard no difference in the music. As for aesthetics: these are very attractive. The design is simple and not too flashy. I bought the rose-gold color, which is more of a goldish-copper. Definitely not too pink. My mom has the red, and it strikes the right balance between fire-engine and cherry red.

    From Bose to Beats

I have used Bose for years, but recently got the iPhone 8, which has no headphone jack. I have tried Bose newest wireless headphones, but they hurt my ears, and I have on old pair of sound link wireless on ear headphones but they start to hurt my ears after a while. I am not a fan of the over ear headphones because I look weird and the noise cancelation starts to hurt my ears after a while from the pressure the noise cancellation feature adds. I bought some AirPods and I do like them for use while I am at home, I have to use ear hooks with them so I don't bother using them in public places out of fear that I will lose one. Ive had beats on the past but always the ear buds never on ear or over ear. I have to say, I do like these a little more than Bose, and definitely more than AirPods. I like these headphones because I get noise isolation, I like that it comes with the W1 chip so I don't have to pair it to all my devices, it's already recognized. and I love these because they don't hurt my ears while wearing them.

This is the first and only set of Beats cans with good sound (all prior Beats cans are far too overdriven, IMO), but also the first set of wireless cans with PHENOMENAL battery life and zero connectivity issues. 40 hour battery life is no exaggeration, and the amount of distance you can go from your source is incredible with no chop or stutter. As on-ear headphones go, these are also very comfortable cans, albeit with the usual caveats of more sound leakage versus quality over-ear cans. Again, the Beats sound is not for everyone, but is particularly well-tuned to modern music, hip hop, electronica, and most things produced in the 90's or later. It's not audiophile best quality sound, but it is very good sound, witj great midrange, only slightly overdriven lows, and only slightly muted highs (classical music listeners will probably not be pleased, but most other listening is great). The headphones also fit snug and comfortably during active workouts without being jostled around or coming off your head, which is a big plus. Overall, these are great cans for around $200ish, but don't pay $299 MSRP, because they're commonly found cheaper and they aren't quite $299 caliber sound.

Up until I got these beats, I wasn't much of a wireless headphones kind of guy. I had always had issues with bluetooth and it was frustrating, not these. When Apple bought the line of Beats, they did an amazing job. Still great sound but what you also get is amazing battery life. I think I have charged them a total of 3 times and Ive had them since August. So pretty fantastic. The beats are comfortable and stay secure even during running. So great for workouts. Only issue I had was with Zoom program on a Mac I was trying to hear my professor for lecture and the sound didn't work, however, not sure if this was a software issue or a beats issue. I was just hoping I could use it in this regard Other than that, they are perfect. They seem durable and I'm hoping they last a very long time. The build seems to be made of a plastic, but a good plastic that has some flex and durability, they don't feel like they will break unless its significant.

Of course you are always skeptical when you see the price, but let me tell you, if your an athletic person, or just basically love music and are always listening to music or constantly losing or going through headphones, this is for you and so worth the investment. I have no more hassles at the gym with worrying about wires or adjusting the uncomfortable in-ear headphones constantly, or the wires always ripping out of your ears when your doing floor workouts/yoga!! Its true freedom and really changes the way you listen to music! There is not one issue I found other than if your using them at the gym they will get sweat on them. They are comfortable and stay on your head they didn't move at all when running. Totally tunes out all noise and other gym music and screaming kids jk. Easy set up, connected to my SG Edge 7 quick and easy. I charge it simply and quickly on my HP laptop. I purchased the rose gold ones when they had the online deal took me a long time to finally purchased them but I am so happy I did! Thank you Best Buy and Dr. Dre!

I picked up the new Solo3's for a couple of reasons - the most important...battery. I'm no audiophile and there are better headphones out there - in fact the sales guy pointed me towards the Bose, but for my needs, these new Solo3's were exactly what I was looking for. I listen to mainly EDM and they don't disappoint. The pairing process is slick and they instantly showed up on my MacBook, Watch, iPhone, and iPad. The Gold color is a perfect match for my phone and watch, but let's talk about what make these stand apart from any other headphones - battery. They were charged out of the box, but I put them on the charger for good measure. The battery lasted me through two international flights and cleaning the house when I got back. The battery is still at 76% from the first charge. I watched 15 hours of Netflix and listened to 16 hours of music. The battery alone makes these a no brainer.

I wanted a headset that I could wear while doing chores around the house. I bought the Bose QC35 first. The Bose made the bass in my music almost nonexistent and on top of that my ears got kinda sweaty. I used the Bose to watch a movie as well and they really shined in this aspect. I like to hear bass in my music so the Bose went back to the store. I purchased these cans next and all the online reviews about them are spot on. The Beats have fantastic audio quality and the battery life cannot be beat. It syncs up beautifully with my iPhone. The only thing that bothered me at first was his tight they fit around my head. I did some research and found that if you left then cupped over night around the box, it will help with the breaking in process and will no longer hurt. It worked like a charm. I also don’t like the case it comes with. It’s very very tight fitting and I feel like I’m about to damage my headphones whenever I put them away.

I was in the market for on-ear headphones. While earbuds are convenient, every pair I’ve ever owned falls out of my ears, no matter how big or small the earbuds are. Despite the surprising amount of negative reviews I’ve seen across the internet, I decided to go with these. I’m so glad I did! The sound is fantastic, volume range is awesome. I like the fact that I can wear them wirelessly or wired as well. The battery life on these is incredible, too! If you care about colors and like to go for stand-out styles (as I definitely do), I chose the Satin Gold, and it’s quite classy. To me, it seems more “rose gold” than the Rose Gold colored headphones themselves (it’s not as “pinky”). It’s a very unique color and style. I love the matte look with shiny details.

I originally bought these because I was sick of my cords getting tied up while working out at the gym. And for the simple fact that everyone at the gym had them, especially the body builder/weight lifters. Another perk is I love the rose gold color as my iPhone is rose gold. Now let’s get to the quality. It’s amazing. Maybe too amazing to really explain. I have three kids and I use these headphones to do the dishes I don’t hear anything, the dishes, water, or garbage disposal. I also use them to hear the Bible app read aloud as it’s so sound proof if allows me to focus better with the headphones. It was one of the most costly investments I’ve made this year but def worth every penny. I thought I’d use them just for the gym but I also use them to talk when I’m busy and don’t want to hold the phone. The wireless mic makes it easy to talk and hear someone. So it’s multi purpose and serves as a Bluetooth.

I would recommend this to a friend
