    I didn't need anything fancy. I live in Miami and we get some nasty thunder storms and needed a protector for my computer. This does the job.

    Has sufficient outlets for most applications and even provides you with spaced outlets for those clunky adapters that take up space. Low profile plug is very handy for tight spaces. One warning is how the cord is bent/twisted in packing that make it unwieldy in tight spaces.

    I'm use to the Belkin name, but have not purchased their surge protectors until now. I bought this for my parents and they are happy with it. I also purchased the black/charcoal gray for my own use.

    I bought this based solely on the joule rating of 3600+. Assuming (and we know what happens when we do that) that it would protect up to 3600 joules. However, it is a combined total of all eight outlets plus the phone line. All protectors may be rated this way and it may be my fault for not researching this little tidbit of info. For basic surge protection it may do the job, but for sensitive equipment I think I would look elsewhere.
