Every part of the pencil has its own compartment and it closed individually so not to "spill" the parts. When temporary putting the pencil down the case acts as a stand. The best it the was the case is magnetically closed and does NOT come apart in my bag. I WOULD NOT get a Apple Pencil without investing in this case!!!
