I bought this to use with my lanovo laptop and a old 22" KDS monitor. Just plug and play. I did have to switch my sound back to the laptop for the KDS has no speakers. I didn't experience any issues with this setup,- just plug and play, I like that. I'm glad that i bought this unit over the HDMI to VGA cable only, I read that there are some issues with that, issues that i don't need, I'm glad that there are still products out there that do as they promise, Belkin and Insignia are two that i trust and fully recommend, they have never failed me.
I would recommend this to a friend
