Many appreciate the strong bass and the compact size, finding the setup process straightforward. Some Bugs, But a Decent Speaker for the Bedside

This is an AC plug in only speaker, no batteries, and no power button. It stays on continuously so you can play to it at will using AirPlay (over WiFi) or Bluetooth. You must load the Belkin App in order to set the device up. The App will walk you through the WiFi setup and most likely a software update. First time the App works well for set up. If you move it to a friend’s house, I found the App worthless for setting up a new WiFi. I had to push a little reset button on the bottom in order for the app and speaker to set up again. And it took at least three tries to get there. The app has a “settings” where you can send feedback if you are having trouble. I tried it, but no Email was returned to me after at least 5 days. And their Website does not address this model with AirPlay, it only covers the model with Google Assistant. This is not a Stereo speaker and I was disappointed with that at this price point. There is also no audio “in jack” like most speakers. The controls on the unit are touch sensitive and easily touched in error. The writing by the buttons is weak, and there are no tactile locators to help you find any of the buttons. If you try to feel for it, the touch sensitive controls do something you probably don’t want. In addition the volume buttons are “wonky”. If the unit is playing loud, one push on the “down” button immediately takes the volume down at least 50% with one push. I found using Alexa, the controls on the App, or simply the volume controls on the side of my phone worked the best. Additionally, there is a touch sensitive button on the speaker to mute the mic for Alexa. I hit it on multiple occasions just moving the speaker and Alexa was off. You soon learn if the lights on the front are not responding, the mic is probably off. The Sound is good but lacks midrange. It’s a great background music speaker on your bedside or on a desk. There the sound has strong base that you hear, but don’t feel. It’s a pleasing mellow tone that works well for general listening. Crank it up and the volume is loud, but the base retards and the highs are pronounced. It’s like the “loudness” compensation is considerable more base at low to mid volumes, but at higher volume levels the base is much reduced. I still like to listen to the speaker but because it’s not a true stereo sound there is not much depth or “spatial” separation which is disappointing. The wireless phone charger built into the top is great. It charges my IPhone XR just fine using a case that is approved for wireless charging. It’s also “forgiving” as to placement on the tray to get it to charge. AirPlay and Bluetooth work very well on the Belkin. Bluetooth with my IPhone XR is at least 30-40 ft range. Spotify will let you use “connect” which will save one step to play it through AirPlay from the Spotify App. Pandora works well and I use AirPlay listening to that as well. I also have used both music Apps with Bluetooth and they both work very well. Alexa works well on this speaker. Of course you can play music thorough Amazon if you have a Prime Account. But Alexa will also let you adjust volume on this speaker even if you are listening to another source such as Spotify or Pandora. And of course you can control all you Alexa enabled devices just like any of the Amazon speakers. Summary: Nice speaker with lots of features. Sound is good, not quite where I thought it would be. There are some glitches with the App and setting up WiFi to a different network. Touch controls on the device are not my preference. I just use the buttons on side of my phone. It is a pricey speaker and the market is full of Alexa capable devices. However the Wireless phone charger is nice and few, if any, Alexa devices offer that. I think it would make a great Bedside, Desk, or Kitchen speaker.

It sounds good ,but documentation is extremely limited the Android app no longer exist so if you do have an iOS device this just an expensive Bluetooth speaker. Their is also no way to add multiple network so if you leave your home network you have to factory reset the device. For $200 bucks you can do better. The speaker sound good and works well when setup ,but you will have trouble setting this up.

      Hi, PNunlee,

If you need to connect the speaker to a new Wi-Fi or change the Wi-Fi password, you will need to restore the speaker and set it up again. You can do this by either using the Belkin SOUNDFORM app or by the reset button on the bottom of the speaker. If you use the Spotify Connect or Alexa App, then once your account has been linked in, you will be able to control your speaker using the Alexa or Spotify app regardless of the network that you are connected to. We can have our Product Experts help you incase you have issues setting up the Belkin G1S0002 by sending us an email at [email protected] with your contact info and the link of this review, for our reference.

The only reason I'm giving this a two star is because this speaker sounds good and that's the only good thing about this. First off, the main issue with this is Alexa you can't hear me at all. I have to talk extremely loud to get this thing to hear me. Forget about this thing hearing you if you're playing music. Basically have to scream at the top of your lungs for this thing to hear you while you're playing music. The second issue with this is the wireless charger. In order for the wireless charging to work you have to put the phone exactly in the middle of the charger. Just ever so slightly off center, the phone will not charge The third issue is the Bluetooth connections. Bluetooth constantly cuts in and out on this device. Last but not least, the last issue is Wi-Fi also cuts in and out on this. Other than it's a good sound, this is not the best product it and it needs a lot of work.

      Hi Josh,

We appreciate you taking the time to share your honest feedback. This is not the norm for our Belkin G1S0002 to behave this way, as the speaker features two far-field microphones used for Amazon Alexa and phone call functionality. Just make sure to unmute the microphone so the speaker can hear your voice commands. Anyhow, our Product Experts are eager to help and address these issues. I'm usually a big fan of Belkin gear and while the Soundform Elite sounds great and looks pretty cool, I have to think that this is a miss for them. Upon opening the box, which is nicely configured to keep the speaker secure, I was surprised to see just how small the SoundForm Elite actually is. I guess with all the stuff Belkin has packed into it, I expected it to be more the size of the Gen 1 HomePod but this is much smaller than that. I did set-up two different ways: first just using bluetooth and no app, and second with the app and all the features. Bluetooth Only Set-Up: Super easy as BT should be by now. My iPhone found it and linked in seconds. Had music blasting right away. Soundform App Set-Up: Not nearly as smooth and actually had to call Belkin Support. The app would not find the speaker no matter how many times I did the factory reset and waiting for it to be in 'set-up mode'. I'm still not exactly sure what got it to finally work, perhaps a firmware update, perhaps something else, but it took a couple of tries even with the Support Team on the line. Point of favor in Belkin's corner is that their Support team member was great, though I would prefer to have not contacted them at all. Post Set-Up Sound: Once the App and SoundForm Elite were both up and running, I was surprised at just how little the App actually does for you. Using straight Bluetooth I felt that the sound out of the SoundForm Elite was extremely powerful and WAY too boomy in the bass department. It was so bad at first that I had to move my test set up off of my desk and onto my kitchen island with it's granite tops to keep it from rattling everything, and that is at perhaps half volume. I had really hoped that the SoundForm App would have some equalizer settings or at least some presets but it had nothing of the sort. Now this is something that Belkin can maybe add in the future but right now, if you don't like the sound out of the box, you are stuck with it. Alexa: The SoundForm Elite speaker connects to your Amazon account and can utilize Alexa. This was configured through the app very quickly and I soon had Alexa blasting everything from 80's music to jazz. The microphones on the SoundForm speaker were able to hear me from the other side of the kitchen/living room (open concept house). It even picked up my commands eight time out of ten when I went into my home office and yelled at it. Wireless Charging: This was a HUGE selling point for me and also my biggest disappointment. I could not get the Belkin SoundForm to charge my phone more than 30% on repeated tries. Somewhere between 25-30% the charge indicator on the right side of the cradle would go yellow, the phone would stop charging, and my phone would be roasting. This is with a brand new iPhone 12 Pro, so I don't know if that is an issue or not, but considering it is heat that destroys your batteries more than anything else, I will not be using the wireless charging feature of this speaker. I don't think there is a fan or even venting for this feature to help with the heat dissipation. This is unfortunate because this makes the Belkin SoundForm Elite just a really loud and boomy Bluetooth speaker and there are a ton of those on the market at a much lower price. My last complaint involves the power brick for this thing. Despite the speaker looking nice and being a good addition to a counter, I would not put it there because the power brick is like a 30W Apple charger with the prongs built into the main box. This makes it so that you get an unfortunate block hanging from your wall behind the speaker. You need to set this thing up where it can have the power cord run below the device and plug into the wall or a power strip, and even then it may take up two spaces depending on how your power strip is set up. The other speakers in my house that are plug in only and don't have their own battery power, all have this power gear inside the speaker itself. This makes it so that it has just a simple plug that isn't an eyesore. I'm sure this was needed to keep things compact and probably to also help with heat, but this is a no-go for me. Conclusion: This is an OK Bluetooth speaker with extremely boomy sound, a pretty useless app, great Alexa functionality, unusable wireless charging, and an ugly power brick. The only reason I'm giving it three-stars is because it does play music, and the Belkin Support team was great. Other than that, I can't get behind the SoundForm Elite until they fix the App and wireless charging.
