I needed it fixed ASAP but unable to get it repaired during COVID. So, I ordered this USB connected smart card reader. It works fine. Sometimes the connection gets bumped and I get logged out of my computer but overall, I am satisfied.

On Chromebook a couple of apps were required to link the card reader to the web site I was connecting with. These were readily available in the app store. Took several steps to connect everything, but done once, it all works great.

I have not been disappointed. Plug and play, reads my PIV without any issues. A great investment and so happy I don’t have to take my work keyboard home.

It helps to ask customer service for recommendations as different computers have different softwares

Remember, you must first perform several setup tasks on your computer to read military ID cards for any card reader to work. This Belkin card reader is simple and affordable, perfect for working from home.
