This would have allowed her to charge it using a standard USB cord with a micro connector at one end, and it was small enough for travel. She found the original cord so I don't know if she's used this, but it's a Belkin very similar to one I have, so it should be fine. I use mine all the time.

I like the Belkin better due to the built in cradle that holds my iPhone while charging. It was on clearance but I thought it was still overpriced.
