    The first several times I used the toaster it had a very strong smell as it burnt off whatever coating was put on in the factory. I’d recommend running it in a ventilated space and don’t put bread in until it no longer gives off the smell! It took me like 4-5 times. I mostly use it to toast bagels and have noticed anything higher than the 2 setting will start to burn. It also toasts inconsistently so some areas of the bagel (or bread) get much darker than the others - which is why the highest setting I use is 2. I’m disappointed in the purchase but am outside the return window. I wouldn’t recommend this toaster or buy it again.

    It does a good job of toasting. Like most toasters, the bottom edge tends to get burned. Light pieces can fly out the top. Bagels good nicely with the use of the button on the front.
