Sensor goes out quickly

We had this model about a year ago, but the sensor for the basket (a small spring button inside unit) quit working and therefore the unit would not turn on. This was covered under warranty and we were sent a check for the amount of purchase. We purchased another this year and it worked well for about two months. Then, the same thing happened and the sensor quit working on this unit as well. We really hoped this one would be better, but no luck!
