Not solid wood, of course, but is very heave and seems to be of great quality. I found assembly very easy, but could be difficult for some due to the weight of a few pieces. We chose to put some frosted vinyl on the back side of the glass (it's one big piece) because we have our "home control center" there and didn't want to see the cords, routers, etc. Very happy!
