He still uses the brick that plugs in the wall with the standard USB. The USB-c plugs into the phone. My kids always insist on 10 foot long cords. Initially, works great. Time will tell on it's longevity. Price was reasonably lower than others.

A store employee gave me good directions on where to find the cable, and once I purchased it and tried it at home it fit my new phone perfectly and worked perfectly also.
