More of a mini heater instead of a charger

Affordable magsafe battery with kickstand
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As someone who owns an iPhone 14 pro and is always on the go, I was excited to try this out. It's essentially a "generic best buy brand" version of the Apple MagSafe Battery Pack, but at a more affordable price point. Overall, I'm really impressed with the quality of this charger. It's sleek, compact, and has a nice weight to it. The 5,000mAh capacity is more than enough to charge my phone at least once or twice, and the 7.5W wireless charging is still fast enough to charge while in use or watching netflix. The charger obviously magnetically attaches to the back of my iPhone. Works excellent with the apple clear case and a supcase magsafe case i use from time to time just like the apple one does. One of my favorite features of this charger vs the apple one is the kickstand. It's built into the back of the charger, which means I can prop up my phone and watch videos or make facetime calls hands free while it charges. The only issue I've encountered with this is that it can sometimes have trouble beginning to charge my phone. It's a rare occurrence, but I've found that I need to long-press the power button to get it to start charging again. It's a minor inconvenience, but it's something to keep in mind. Overall, I would recommend this charger to anyone who needs a reliable and affordable way to charge their iPhone 14, 13, or 12 on the go. It's a great alternative to the Apple MagSafe Battery Pack, and it works just as well imo. The kickstand is a really nice added feature, and the build quality is impressive for what it is. Just keep in mind that you may need to long-press the power button to get it to start charging occasionally.

Decent value wireless charger w/few irksome quirks
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I generally like the Essentials line of products; they typically provide a decent value as cost-effective alternatives to similarly featured competitor products. In this case, however, there were just a few cut corners or cost-saving measures that seem too glaring to overlook. Bottom line--if you want a portable Magsafe/wireless charging pack, this one *does* offer those features at a price well below the competition, but I'm not sure beyond the basic features that there's anything surprising or stellar to write home about. In terms of construction, the battery pack is "nicely portable" with a somewhat diminutive size and smooth edges that makes it easy to tote around in a bag or pocket without feeling too bulky or heavy. That said, the battery pack is also fairly light and thus might easily be knocked off tables or chairs and it doesn't necessarily feel substantial enough to survive much of a fall. Time will tell, but I wouldn't recommend using it in situations where it might be subject to quite a bit of punishment--and taking it camping or to the beach might be just a bit risky as the shell features just enough offsets and small gaps in the seams between plastic parts that you might risk getting a little water or dust inside if used in harsher or more austere environments. The charging surface is marked with a shiny bit of embossed plastic that is really only visible when reflecting ambient lights--this gives the whole pack a sleek, uncluttered appearance that definitely compliments Apple's generic "iDevice aesthetic." There is one power button on the side of the device that also features an LED to communicate various status indicators such as charging success, battery level (sort of), or charging issues (metal on the magnetic plate, overheating, etc.). A 2-position fold-out kickstand on the back conveniently allows you to view your phone hands-free while it is charging. The magnetic charging plate itself is plenty strong--I could suspend the battery pack upside down by the phone with or without a Magsafe case installed and the pack would not detach and fall. Wireless charging does make the pack get a bit warm (which is normal), but not egregiously so--only the area around the kickstand got warm enough to warrant changing my grip after it had been charging my phone for a while. Along with Magsafe charging for my iPhone 12, I was also able to charge my Jabra earbuds using a wireless charging case...nice! The single USB-C port on the bottom is used to charge an attached device or for charging the battery pack itself (no charger is included however). As for performance and use, this is where things started missing the target just a bit. - The kickstand only supports keeping your phone in landscape view--this is fine if you're watching a Netflix stream or something like that and want to keep the phone's battery topped off, but the kickstand is placed so close to the bottom of the pack that the weight of an attached phone pulls the whole setup forward until the phone and battery pack are completely upright/perpendicular and balancing on their bottom edges. Those of you who were hoping for a combination stand/charger for portrait mode FaceTime calls or vlogging will need to look elsewhere. - The included USB-C to USB-C cable is only 14" long--this is an ideal size for charging an attached device on the go, but likely not long enough to use in many situations where you need to reach a more substantial wall charger, especially because the manual recommends a 15W minimum charging block for this battery pack. I don't know about you, but that's rated just a bit higher than most of the random/spare wall chargers we have amassed and left lying around over the years. - According to a product rep's answer in the Q&A section of the Best Buy website, this battery pack features a low-voltage charging mode for things like Airpods or an Apple Watch (press the power button twice), but this is documented nowhere in the manual--so unless you happened to have read that bit of Q&A (or this review), I have to wonder if using the pack in "regular voltage mode" would otherwise be harmful to such devices. My guess is probably not given that most pricey consumer electronics can smartly regulate their own charging/charge levels, but then why bother including such a mode at all? Once more, the manual mentions nothing about this feature and provides no cautions or directions to the user for charging such devices. - The LED status indicator is not very informative. The green LED pulses when the pack is being charged and goes solid when fully charged--that much is great. And when you power up the pack and start charging a device, the LED glows green for 5 seconds before turning off, which is nice if you don't want an intrusive LED burning away on your nightstand in a totally darkened room. But there are simply no other indications of just how full the battery pack is at any given time--I have only seen a green LED (good to go) or a flashing orange LED (pack needs charging), and there is nothing on the product or mentioned in the manual to indicate how to assess if the charge level is somewhere in between. A 3 or 4-segment charge gauge (or some LED flash patterns or a green/orange/red color scheme) is desperately needed. Oddly enough, the LED can display red, but only for charging issues/problems. - The lack of charge-level indicators becomes even more of an issue if you hope to charge two attached devices (one wireless, one wired via USB-C) because the pack cannot charge both simultaneously. Instead, it will charge the WIRED device first *and fully* before initiating wireless charging on a second device...so if you burn through most of your charge on the USB-attached device, you don't really have a good sense of just how much remaining charge you're going to get delivered through the Magsafe charging pad. This issue makes charging two devices using the same connection (one after the other) a bit uncertain as well because you have no idea how much charge you’ve got left in the pack for that second device once the first one’s battery is done cooking. - Speaking of charging, battery capacity was just a tad disappointing when using the wireless charging pad--depending on your needs/devices, you may not even get one full charge from the pack! I used a 65W charging block to completely charge the battery pack for its first official use. I was able to charge my iPhone 12 from 50% to 100% using the Magsafe charging plate in 2 hrs 45 mins, but there was only enough charge left in the pack to raise my wife's iPhone 12 battery another 20% (wirelessly) before the battery pack cut off. I let the pack recharge overnight and depleted my iPhone 12's battery down to 7%. Using the wireless charging pad the next night, I was only able to get my iPhone's battery up to 85% before the pack gave out again. As expected, things DID get a bit better going completely wired; I was able to charge my iPhone up from 8% to 100% in just over 2 hours using a USB-C to Lightning cable, with enough charge left over for another 19% bump on my wife’s iPhone battery before the pack gave out again. Of course, taking advantage of the greater recharge capacity and charging speed meant dispensing with the convenience of wireless charging…which is the primary selling point of this pack in the first place! I don't mean to sound *entirely* disappointed or overly critical--admittedly, this battery pack is a convenient and VERY cost-effective way to provide some portable wireless charging for your devices. However, while I can easily overlook some of the design and pack-in choices to keep down costs, the irritating lack of status indicators and slightly limited wireless charging capacity make this particular battery pack tough to recommend wholeheartedly unless you also place greater emphasis on price over performance/features.

Best Buy Review MagSafe Battery Pack
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros and Cons - Pros It has a nice stand to hold your phone both standing up and on its back It charges fast and well It’s durable The stand is metal material It has an extra port for charging usb c Cons- The metal get hot ( it has a small metal stand on the back and when the stand isn’t in use it gets hot ) The MagSafe is strong but since the product itself is plastic it slides SUPER easily and can easily fall off - I would recommend that BEST BUY attack a silicone or matte finish on the MagSafe side to ensure it’s sturdy and secure on the phone - other than that its an amazing product

Affordable Magsafe and USB-C output Charger!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Best Buy essentials portable Power Bank is definitely worth considering if you are looking for a powerbank that is going to provide multidevice charging ability while maintaining the core function of being able to utilize Magsafe charging on devices like the new Airpod Pros and the iPhone 12's and newer. The design is very simple and clean, matching the aesthetics of most apple devices well. The kickstand is a cool feature to have. For example, if you are on a plane with the server tray in front of you, this kickstand portable charger would be perfect for setting your phone up in front of you and charging your device while you enjoy media on the phone. The 5000mAh battery is a nice capacity to be able to enable your device to laster longer throughout your day or night of use while still maintaining a compact size that makes traveling on the go a lot easier. Something I did note is that when using the magsafe charging capability, this power bank does get quite hot to the touch. Given energy transfer and thermodynamics principles, this is not shocking, but it should be noted so users will be aware ahead of time. Altogether, I really like this Best Buy Essentials power bank and the fact that it is available at well below the price of a lot of other options out there with this capacity and capability. Thanks for reading and I hope this helps you make your purchasing decision!

Works well, high capacity and good value.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: * Magnetically couples to a compatible phone. * More than 3x the capacity of the OEM MagSafe battery. * Can also power a wired device or a qi-compatible device. * Kickstand works well in both portrait and landscape. Cons: * No battery gauge during charging or while using as a charger; just a simple single-LED. * Larger and heavier than the OEM MagSafe battery (but has larger capacity). * Charges an iPhone slower than the OEM MagSafe battery. Setup: It’s an external backup battery so the setup is simple; just plug it in to charge the built-in battery so you can use it to later charge your other devices when an outlet and USB charger are not handy. This battery came with a USB-C-to-C cable but you need to supply your own USB adapter. You’ll need to plug it in to your USB adapter of choice and the manual recommends one of at least 15W. There is a single LED on the side to indicate battery status. It will throb green while charging the internal battery and turn solid green when fully charged. There is no percentage shown; it’s either charging or done. Once fully charged, just unplug it and take the battery with you for when your phone or other devices need some juice. Typical Usage: This battery’s primary function is to charge a compatible iPhone wirelessly via the MagSafe connection on the back of the phone. Just snap the battery on the back and your phone will start charging (may need to wake up the battery by pressing its single button). If you have other things to charge, you can instead plug a cable in to the USB-C port to charge just about anything else. This battery is also compatible with most devices that charge via the qi standard; just flip the battery over and place your qi device on the top centered on the circle. When used as a MagSafe charger with a compatible iPhone, the phone will display its normal charging status as if it were plugged in to a wire, but the phone will not fully integrate with the battery as it would with the OEM MagSafe charger. The only way to check the power level of the battery itself is by looking at the single LED on its button; tap the button while it’s charging your device and the LED will turn green for 5 seconds if the power level is OK or red if the battery is getting low. I personally prefer a multi-LED battery gage to show the status of charging the battery or how much power is left while using the battery to charge your device, but the single LED is good enough. You can connect two devices at the same time; one via MagSafe or qi and the other via a wire, but only one device will charge at a time. The wired device will charge to full first, then the wireless (MagSafe or qi) will charge with the remaining battery power. There is no mention in the manual of whether you can plug the battery in to a USB adapter while charging a device wirelessly, but from testing, it appears that the battery can be charging while it is also being used to charge a device wirelessly. Of course, doing this means that you can only charge a wireless device (MagSafe or qi) while charing the battery itself. The built-in kickstand stores flat against the back of the battery and is relatively easy to pop open. You can prop the phone up in either Portrait or Landscape orientation with the kickstand out. Due to the orientation of the kickstand and the way the battery attaches to the back of the phone, Landscape orientation is only possible with the top of the phone to the left side and you cannot use the kickstand in Portrait while a cable is plugged into the battery. BTW, the OEM MagSafe battery doesn’t even have a kickstand feature, so this is a plus. Conclusion: This battery feels solid, works well and attaches securely to a compatible iPhone. The built-in kickstand is convenient and sturdy. This battery can charge your devices via MagSafe, qi or a USB-C cable. The battery is more than 3 times the capacity of the OEM MagSafe battery, but is larger and heavier and the features for battery level while charging or being charged are more rudimentary. Overall, a good value for the tradeoffs.

Quick wireless charge
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Besy Buy wireless charger is great for on the go, in the car, at the office, and more. Its very slim and lightweight. It slides into my little sode pocket of my purse and even fots in my back pocket. It has a long battery life on it which is great! I keep it charged and whenever my ohone goes dead all i have to do is set my phone on top of it for a quick charge. Its very powerful and chafges my phone quickly which is great for when im on the road. It charges way faster than the usb port in my car. Its very simple to use and has a light on the sidr that allows you to know when your device needs recharging. It can also be used while the port is charging or while not charging. You can also connect your phone to it using a c cable and charge it directly through it instead of placing on top. Overall this is a great wireless charger that i can take with me on the go anywhere and is small enoigh to slide into your pocket. It o ly works for iphone. I also tried it on my husbands samsung phone but it wouldnt charge it, so please make sure you have an iphone before buying this.

Pretty good overall, but overheats your phone.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this product just yesterday, and it is iver all a great product, although i do have a couple issues with it. One, the charging is a bit slow, and i actually get a notification in my battery settings saying “slow charger.” The magnetism is very good, i connect it straight to the back of my iPhone 13 without a case on it and it stay very well. However when i do use it, my phone will actually have to stop itself from charging sometimes due to the phone’s temperature, which is hard if i have to use it to charge overnight for trips. If you are using a newer iphone with the titanium back, this might work better as the phone might be able to cool itself better, although i wouldn’t be certain. Overall this is an amazing product for the price, and i would strongly recomend this for if you need something on the go and can’t afford an actual Apple battery pack.

Works, but could be better
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was happy to review this product because its definitely on my list to purchase for summer. We have an iphone 14 pro and a 14 pro max. So I was able to test on both devices and it worked fine, but not great. The first time I charged my phone it worked great (battery pack was not fully charged) and charged my phone by about 30%. The second time I went to use the battery pack my phone was around 30% and I was also using the phone to play a game. The phone charge increased by 15% but I had to take the battery pack off as it made the phone and battery pack very hot (almost unsafe). So after the battery packed cooled down some I tried it on the pro max and the same thing happened. I used a regular wall charge to charge my phone as I didn't feel comfortable using the battery pack. I did charge the battery pack again and tried it on my phone again. This time the phone charged up and was only slightly warm. This seemed more in line of what I would consider okay. We also tried it again on the pro max and it was fine as well. The battery pack also seemed to be dead after charging both phones by 25/30%. So I'm not sure if it should be able to charge more or not. I found that the charger worked fine with or without a case. Overall I think this is an okay product and I'm happy to have it for use when out an about. I think the product could be better but its fine for what it is.

Not enough to fully charge an iPhone 14 Pro Max
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although this MagSafe portable charger has a couple nice features, they don't really matter when it falls so short on the most important one, its charging capabilities. I was really looking forward to adding another battery pack to my arsenal for those times when I'm at weekend events doing a lot of filming for my online videos. Before I get to the bad, let's start with the good. First, the MagSafe feature. I just purchased an iPhone 14 Pro Max along with a MagSafe compatible case. This magnets in this charger are more than strong enough to attach both directly to the iPhone and to my Spigen case. I could easily just hold onto either the phone or charger and it supported the weight no problem. Next is the kickstand feature. This is a very nice-to-have that easily supported my phone in either landscape or portrait positioning so that you could use the charger at the same time as watching video on the phone. That's where the good comes to an end however. After making sure it was fully charged, which is an issue in itself, I tested it with my iPhone 14 Pro Max multiple ways, wirelessly through the case, wirelessly without a case, and wired. The method used didn't seem to make too much difference in charging, but the most it could ever charge up my iPhone was only about 60%. I also made sure not to use my phone while charging to make sure I wasn't draining it at the same time. Only being able to get 60% is not good for my required purpose. I also tested it out with my older Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, wired of course, and it did manage to recharge this device to 100%, but that took just about everything this charger had. Afterward I tried to charge my iPhone to see how much was left in it and all I got was 5%. That leads me to one of my biggest complaints about this charger, it's complete lack of a proper charge level indicator. What it has is almost worthless, with a press of the button it'll either flash yellow or green, with yellow meaning it has less than 20% charge and green meaning more than 20%. So basically the only indication you get is that it's either almost dead, or not almost dead. Guessing whether it has 21% charge left or 100% is quite a big range to be left unknown. Another big issue is re-charging. First off, the 'flashing green' indicator that means it's charging is so slow that when I first used it, after glancing at it, I thought it was solid green and was therefore fully charged, leaving me quite disappointed when I only got 35% charge on my iPhone out of it. Since then I learned you have to stare at it for a little bit to see it flashing. Then there's the charging itself, you practically need a laptop charger to charge it up. Being that it doesn't come with its own charging block you have to supply your own, and if you read the guide, you'll notice it says you need at least a 15w charging block. With all the devices in my house I can say that 95% of the usb charging blocks I have fall short of this requirement. The one typical block I do have that meets this requirement is my Samsung 'Super Fast Charging' block that came with my Galaxy Note. Unfortunately even meeting the required wattage, it failed to charge it up. The light was flashing green and indicating a charging status, but even after leaving it charging overnight, it was still practically dead the next day when I tried to use it. The only way I can get it charged is by plugging in the usb-c charger that my Dell laptop uses, which is a 45 watt charger. The fact that I need to use a laptop charger for this small battery pack, to then only be able to charge up my iPhone 60%, is why unfortunately I can't recommend this product at all. Add in the inability to determine a proper charge level and all I can say is it's a hard pass on this charger.

LIghtweight & Thin
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s a very nice product it comes with a magnetic ring in case your phone doesn’t have MagSafe like android phones I put the ring that’s included on the back of the power bank so I can put my MagSafe wallet on the back it’s very thin around half an inch I’d say but I’d recommend getting a short charger like a 6 inch one for your phone so you can charge wired if you care about charging efficiently Pros -It has an input and output usb-c port -very thin and light -strong magnets (won’t fall off unless you’re trying to make it come off) -comes with a usb-c to usbc charger (although small) -wired charging is very fast 10-15% in 10-20 minutes -very good when in a rush -passthrough charging (you can charge the power bank while also charging your phone at the same time and doesn’t get too hot charges very slow though) Cons -Option is only "white", need to have "black color option" -wireless charging is very slow got about 20-25% in an hour (after using this for a few weeks now the charging got more efficient and a lot faster it took 1 full discharge to get it to work properly) -gets pretty warm while charging (not too uncomfortable but it’s noticeable) Misc -hangs a little off my Samsung Galaxy S22 Smartphone a little (will hang off the 12 or 13 mini a little as well) -It’s a little thicker than my phone with a case on but it’s not that much of a problem -you have to press the button on the bottom to start charging it.

Love the kickstand!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a decent/cheaper alternative to the Apple MagSafe battery pack. It doesn't have the software integration of the native Apple product, but it does have much more capacity. The kickstand is very handy for watching media. I took away one star because there's no way to tell how much charge / battery capacity is left. (Just green good, red bad. No way to tell the percentage.)

Reliable, Fast, and Convenient Charging
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using the Essential Magnetic Charger for a few weeks now, and I’m really impressed. The magnetic connection is strong and lines up perfectly every time, making it super easy to just snap my phone into place without fumbling around for cables. Charging is fast and consistent, and the charger doesn’t get too hot during use. I also love how sleek and minimal the design is — it looks great on my desk and nightstand. It’s especially handy if you’re someone who uses your phone while it’s charging, since the magnetic attachment holds it securely in place. Highly recommend this charger if you're looking for a solid, no-hassle magnetic charging solution!

Decent magsafe charger for the home
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Power banks have been a fairly ubiquitous feature of our backpacks, purses, and pockets for a few years now, and now that just about everything has full support for wireless charging built in a lot of us are looking to upgrade. This 5k mAh offering for iPhones and other magsafe compatible devices has everything you might need for home use or occasional trips around town, though for reasons I'll get into later I'm not sure it's ideal for more extensive travel. As far as functionality goes, this unit checks most of the boxes. It's got clean lines, the magnets cling on to magsafe cases very well, and it doesn't get too hot during charging or discharging. There's a firm kickstand on the back that can be set to one of two angles, and a single USB-C port. As expected you definitely get better charging speeds with a wired connection, but the wireless charge rate is good enough to keep up with your phone even if you want to use it while charging. Unfortunately, I don't have quite as much praise to offer regarding the overall build quality here. The case is light duty plastic and isn't particularly well fitted. There are a lot of noticeable panel gaps along the edges in particular that I'm concerned could end up being ingress points for water or dirt, and a short tumble off of my couch opened one up even further. I've got a few power banks that carry battle scars from being taken out camping, biking, and boating that still work great. I just don't see this one surviving that kind of punishment - which is why I cant rate it particularly high. While there are definitely plenty of uses for a power bank around the home or office, to me the best utility is being able to take it places where a standard outlet just isn't an option. Without being able to do that this seems more like a useful supplement than an everyday carry.

Strong Magnet, Handy Kickstand, Great ValUe
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This little charger is a great companion for my iPhone. The magnet is surprisingly strong—it locks on securely without worrying about it slipping off. With its 5,000mAh capacity, I can usually get my phone from about 50% to full a little more than once, which is perfect for travel or long days out. The built-in kickstand is a nice bonus too—turns it into a temporary dock for watching videos or video calls. For the price, it’s a solid value. My only gripe is that the white finish picks up dirt and smudges pretty easily, so it needs a wipe-down every so often.

Cost Effective & High Quality
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had to purchase a few wireless charges over the years and out of every option I’ve tried, this one takes the cake. I’ve tried Otter Box, Anker, Verizon, & Apple versions of this product and they're just not the same. When I hold this one, it feels durable, not like it’s going to break if it accidentally falls to the floor. The stand on it is outrageously helpful, and Stronger than a Standard Nintendo Switch kick stand. On top of the durability & kick stand, this smooth brick can charge my iPhone more than once on a single battery life. Now that I’ve mentioned some pros, I should mention there’s some cons too, but for the price point they’re manageable. For me, the two main cons were: • There’s no digital monitor, or section of lights to indicate battery health; only a single button-light that goes from green to flashing orange when it’s depleted. •the usb-c to usb-c charging cable that came with the product didn’t work at all. I have more than one usb-c cable so Im able to charge it fine, but to first time buyers who are buying because this is budget friendly: I’d advise on having a spare usb-c cable ready. All in all though, this charger is incredible & is certainly my favorite kind of “magsafe charging” technology I’ve encountered so far. Good job Best Buy
