It's been something of a conundrum - the GPU outputs include DVI-I, DVI-D, and HDMI; while the monitor only has DisplayPort and VGA inputs. Out of all of the cables I've tried, this is the only thing that's worked to get that machine running. And honestly, it works great. The picture on the monitor is crisp and clear at 1920x1080, and the machine itself doesn't seem to have any issues with the adapter. The monitor recognizes everything just fine as well. While this isn't necessarily an "ideal" part to have to include in your build, I will say that it is far from a "bandaid fix" - it's something reliable that will just work without configuration and will stay out of sight and out of mind until you start fiddling around behind the computer. If you're stuck in a similar situation, go for one of these: they're super cheap, and they work great.

Reusing an old Monitor

Just fitted the connector together and hey presto I could get my old monitor to work with my newer computer. It saved me a lot of money and let me reuse an old monitor.
