The original filter model is Samsung DA29 0003G. The last time I was able to buy the original from Amazon was October 2024. I purchased a filter from an alternate site and it did not twist in securely like the genuine filter. The notches on the filter is clearly off. Though it claimed to be a genuine filter, the authentication label did not pass. I’m saying this to be weary of those who claim “genuine”. With the original, I can hear a swish sound and align the arrows with a 3/4 twist. With the alternate filter I previously bought along with this Best Buy Essentials brand, the filters barely twist in and there is no loud swishing sound or alignment of arrows. I will keep the latter because the taste of the water is better than that of the former. There is no aftertaste. I really don’t know how much this filter is cleaning the water but it does taste better than tap water.

This filter has the same shape of the “locking collars” that the old original Samsungs had. The new Samsung oem filters for quite a number of years haven’t fit because they changed the shape of the locking collars. Pretty dumb that original equipment won’t work. This fit perfectly and install easily. These replaced the old Best Buy Insignia brand I used to buy.

It was much easier to install and seemed to work just well. The filter water tasted like that from the other filter. I would purchase it again if available.

BestBuy samsung filter for old samsung fridge

The newer samsung filters don't fit my fridge anymore, but this one always has. It also is better then the samsung filter as this one is NSF 53. I really only ever buy this filter for my fridge now.

Tried a genuine Samsung filter, and as others expressed, the newly designed ones do NOT fit. Samsung not having a filter that fits their Samsung fridge is really not a good business decision in my opinion. How is a person supposed to use only genuine parts if the manufacturer does not make the parts so they will fit! Only issue----had to order the filter as my local Best Buy did not have it in stock.

If they don't quite attach right on older Samsung fridges, try carefully trimming the first bump of the "screw on track" then it turns in and seals without issue. Since I've had this issue with all Samsung and Best Buy filters the past 2 years, I can't blame this product.
