As Good As Most Wrist BP Machines

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
This wrist BP machine is fairly typical of the wrist type of devices.
They are not perfect for everyone as they are very sensitive to body position, much more so than an upper are cuff.
So it's very easy to get inaccurate readings. The cuff must be even with your heart.
I find its readings to be consistently higher than those of my arm cuff which agrees very closely with the pump up cuff and stethoscope that my doctor uses.
The time on the machine is not set when it links to your phone via Bluetooth and you have to read the procedure in the book to accomplish that function.
But the Bluetooth transfer of data to the Health Coach App is very smooth and quick.
And you can keep a record of home readings for your own reference or to share with your doctor or care giver.
I also find the measurement time of this machine to be very quick.
The display screen is clear with large easy to read numbers.
Keeping in mind the characteristics of a wrist BP monitor and how to properly use it, this could be great if you have trouble using an arm machine for one reason or another

This is an excellent product for monitoring your blood pressure. Connect it to your phone via bluetooth and the results are sent right to your phone using the app. The app stores your results so you have a history of your readings.
I have read that taking your blood pressure at the wrist is not the most accurate way to measure. But we tested against a regular blood pressure monitor that measures around the upper arm, and got similar results, so I don't think that a concern. Just make sure you have your arm at heart level when you measure.
There are not many downsides to this product. There's one annoying part in setting up the app where you have to enter your birthdate. It didn't seem like you can manually enter the date. Instead, it pulls up a calendar that starts you in 1996, and you have to click back month by month until you reach your month and year (see picture). Well I was born in the 1970's, so that's a lot of months to click back! The other thing I will mention is that when the monitor tightens taking a blood pressure reading, it gets pretty tight. I've had my blood pressure taken a number of times, and don't remember it getting so tight! It doesn't last very long so not a huge deal, but it'll surprise you when you take your first reading.
Highly recommend!

Convenient - Quick - Automatic Record Tracking+

First impression of the Beurer BC57 wrist blood pressure monitor was it arrived professionally packaged, easy to open and locate the unit, accessories, and Quick Start Guide. The Beurer BC57 is well crafted and clearly reflects the engineering and design that went into developing the medical device.
Quick Start Guide is precisely that, in just a few clear steps I had the monitor setup and performing my first blood pressure measurement. Likewise, in those first few steps of the guide I understood how to operate the device and had a clear knowledge the features.
The next instruction was to download and install their Health Coach app which works with Bluetooth seamlessly. With app installed it will automatically transfer the data from the monitor to the Health Coach after each blood pressure measurement.
Health Coach data is clearly displayed in the app and you can search historic data and view data points by day, week, month, or year.
The setup of the BC57 and the Health Coach could not be easier unless it jumped out of the box and set itself up and ran the measurement.
Compared the readings from the Beurer monitor to a well-known upper arm monitor that I have used for years, the blood pressure measurements and heart rate are spot on.
Included in the box with the BC57 monitor:
1. Instruction manual, professionally written and easy to follow
2. Storage/carrying case
3. Two AAA batteries
4. Quick Start Guide
Additionally, at Best Buy’s Beurer BC57 page you will find an on-line manual, a link to download the manual and an interactive Tour of the product. Nice touch.
Likes:
1. Irregular heartbeat (arrythmia) detection
2. Risk Identification
3. Monitors two users
4. Comfortable wrist band
5. Clear large LCD screen
The Beurer BC57 is convenient, easy to use and an especially accurate device, which is the Bottom-Line.

Light weight and easy to use this blood pressure monitor syncs with your iPhone via bluetooth (hit the i button after taking a reading) to share data with the Health app. It is very finicky so placement is key. Make sure it's not over your wrist bones as stated in the directions and lay your wrist face down on your chest at the level of your heart.

I like the size of this one, compared to the old one I’ve been using for the last 20 years or so. This one is just like the one use by my doctor. Easy to setup, the app is clearly marked making it easy to understand. The included case is refreshing, as my other one has a bag. I like this so much better.

All and all this seems to be a quality made wrist BP monitor.
Unfortunately this unit can be quite cumbersome to set up and interact with.
I noticed that you can only set it up the first time you turn it on with fresh batteries. If you do not realize this when you take it out of the box, you have to remove the batteries and replace them to start over. Set up takes quite a bit of guessing as there isn't too much direction.
There is also an app associated with this monitor. At first it seemed like an easy, straight forward app. However after first use it became difficult to get the monitor to connect and record data. There is no real instruction for connecting to Bluetooth or changing between user one and user 2. When you think you have it figured out you realize it still isn't connecting. It seems to only want to transfer data to the app every few tests. The app does allow you to monitor other health components if you buy other monitors from the same brand (example: pulse oxi). This would be a great tool for tracking if it worked better.
I do not have access to another monitor in order to compare the accuracy of this BP monitor to others. I did uses it several times throughout the day and each time it was a simular reading to the times before. I would say this monitor is at least consistent.
One thing I found nice was the meter at the edge of the screen that showed a colored chart (green, yellow, red) and where your BP reading falls on that scale. As someone who isn't super versed in what is a good BP vs a bad one this feature has been quite helpful.

IN THE BOX
You get the blood pressure monitor, a case, two AAA batteries and some user manuals. I appreciate the addition of a case, but I wish it was a tad bigger to keep the instruction manuals inside of it. While I may not ever use them, I don’t see myself using it ALL the time, so I would like to have the instructions in a handy place where I’d expect them; in the box.
SETTING UP AND USE
It’s pretty simple, you put the batteries in the case, which is between the wristband and the monitor. From there, you strap it to your wrist, making it tight, with the screen on the inside of your wrist (with your palm up) and a one inch gap in your wrist from your palm. Luckily, there’s an imprint of the placement of the device on the strap which is convenient.
From there, you just simply hit the power button. (oh and make sure that your calm, not flexing, and bending your elbow so that your wrist is about the level of your heart). It will squeeze your wrist and about a minute later you’ll have your blood pressure and pulse. The screen is plenty large so your vitals are easy to read.
ACCURACY
I didn’t use another blood pressure device to measure it’s accuracy, but I have a general idea of my blood pressure and what it normally is, and the readings fell in line with my expectations.
FEATURES
It’s not exactly full of features, it’s a simple device that does one thing and does it well. But it does save readings for two users. There is an app that allows you to manually transfer data so that you can see your vitals over time. I can see this being beneficial for someone that regularly checks their blood pressure (maybe they’re required to monitor it by their physician). But for someone like me, who likes the ability to check my vitals periodically, I don’t see much of a benefit of manually transferring the data to my phone and keeping an additional app on my phone. The app is okay, nothing special. So I don’t expect anything fancy.
CONCLUSION
There’s not much to say. This is a small and seemingly accurate blood pressure monitor. It’s convenient in that it stores in a little case and doesn’t take up much space (whether for travelling or for storage on your shelf). It’s convenient and easy to use and read. If you need a blood pressure monitor, this is one to get or at least look at.

Decent Monitor but very buggy App...

It’s always been a good idea to have a few basic health monitoring gizmos around your house these days, especially a blood pressure monitor. With the pandemic, more and more people are having virtual doctor’s visits now, so being able to give your doctor some basic readings helps them, as well as helps you keep tabs on your health on a daily basis. Millions have high blood pressure (some aren’t even aware they do), so a decent blood pressure monitor is pretty much an essential to keep handy.
The Beurer BC57 wrist monitor fits on pretty much any sized wrist, including larger ones like mine. It’s battery powered (two AA batteries included) so no outlet is needed. It has a large, easy to read screen that will show you your Systole and Diastole pressure readings, the time and date, your heartrate, which user (1 or 2) is using the device per your choice, and even alert you if you have an irregular heartbeat. It can store up to 120 readings for up to the 2 users on the device itself, and can transmit those readings to it’s “Health Coach” app (for iPhones or Android) as well. Setup for the basics is ok, but you will need to read the included manual for all of the options, as it’s not intuitive – especially the Bluetooth setting (see below). The entire screen and body are just over 6 inches in width by 3.7 inches tall, and 2.5 inches thick. An included case allows you to store it safely when not in use.
Once set up, you simply put this around your wrist with the screen facing up toward your face on the underside of your wrist. You should take your reading(s) at the same time each day, and be calm and not talk during the reading. Pressing the large top button starts the device, and the cuff will slowly tighten around your wrist. I didn’t find it to be uncomfortable at all. It only takes a few seconds, and then it releases it’s air and you have your reading on the screen. A color scale on the left side will let you see if you’re in a bad zone or not, but a chart is also included in the small booklet that comes with the device. I found it took fairly accurate readings when comparing them to a much larger and more elaborate device, the Beurer was a few points off – not enough to make a huge difference by any means.
The app allows you to store your readings on your phone , and also allows you to store other readings for other Beurer devices like an Oxygen meter, Scale, Sleep monitor, etc. So if you stick with this brand, you could put all of them in the one app, in theory. That is… if you can get the app to work. The one problem for me though, is how hard it is to get the device to connect with the app to do this. Instructions are very vague, and there is no manual menu button where you can go straight into settings and turn blue tooth on and off – it’s done automatically during setup, and mine simply would not connect correctly or consistently. In this regard, they could have made the monitor MUCH easier to use if they had that menu setting button on the device. After several unsuccessful attempts to connect, I sought out help from a Beurer rep who replied that the app “is not compatible with the iPhone 12 – we are working to update it by Spring, 2022”. Um, well, Apple just released the iPhone 13, and many people have the 12 (like me), so that leaves out many who are going to have issues with this app.
As a standalone wrist blood pressure monitor, the Beurer BC57 seems “ok”. It’s built well, fits well, is easy to read, and while the readings aren’t perfect, it takes accurate enough readings for daily monitoring at home. If you need a decent monitor just for that purpose and taking basic readings each day, it’s fine. But if the blue tooth and app features are what you seek, I can’t recommend it due to the issues with updates so it will work with at least some current phones. “Recommended with app reservations” would be my verdict here as you can find standalone variations of this without the app functions for less.

A disappointing device

The Beurer Wrist Blood Pressure monitor was definitely quite a disappointment. As someone with a family full of high blood pressure members, I was excited to give this wrist-style cuff a try as it is a lot easier to put on and take off, especially alone (one-handed). However, the results are not at all believable.
I measured my blood pressure several times and each time it was drastically overstating both the diastolic and systolic measurements compared to a health-grade arm cuff - both in automatic and manual measurements. According to the Beurer wrist monitor, I would likely be dead if these readings were accurate.
Additionally, the initial set up is confusing - especially the bluetooth connection. The instructions could use a little TLC.
For reference to display the inaccuracy of the wrist cuff, my blood pressure is typically about 130/80 - sitting in the correct position, etc. These measurements are not only unbelievable but also quite alarming - especially if someone was not familiar with how to measure manually and didn't have a healthcare professional in the household. I've uploaded a few pictures of "semi-reasonable" measurements - some of the measurements I was getting were 240/170, 220/191, 236/120 - very unreal. But I lost those readings after removing the batteries (several times) in an attempt to get Bluetooth connected.
I would not recommend this product.

I purchased this for my grandmother so she can keep up with her blood pressure on her own. I like the simple fact that there are very few buttons and the numbers are fairly big enough on the screen to see since she has an eye disease keeping her to see well. The other wrist blood pressure cuff I recently purchased was just to high technical even for me because it had bluetooth that synced up with an app on phones. This cuff is not at all like that and any elderly can use it very easy and just fine. The only downfalls it has was the carrying case is plastic and the hinge of the case broke fairly quickly and now it no longer is able to be used. I really would like a case to help keep it clean and dust free especially on the velcro part of the wristband. I also purchased a second one for my parents.
