    Better health on the way

Needing a way to keep your health in check is never easy, but this does help. So here is my review on my newest device. Like: Compact Comes with carry case Comes with batteries Instructions are easy to read and not very long Able to fit multiple sized arms Does not feel like your arm will be squeezed off when using it. Love: Gives what I believe is very accurate readings Easy to read display Long cables and air hose Speaking portion is informative and gives stats Ability to have more than one user with memory of past readings Loathe: Speaking portion is set to high and startled me the first time I used it Case is a little small and is hard to get items back inside once removed No On/Off switch. So it display is always on (although it does dim) and when you are putting it back into the case it will start a reading or will change setting easily Cuff is difficult to put on if you are doing it yourself. Very stiff and velcro is hard to release with one hand Only 2 people with memory slots, so not for families or multiple readings unless you want to corrupt the stats/pass readings of others. So I am glad I got it, and I am also glad I only have 2 people that will be using it. It is good to know your readings and will help you with monitoring your health (pressure, pulse and so on). Therefore I can recommend this to persons of not quite older age yet, to assist in keeping yourself in check.

Very little worked right with this device. Every time it insisted that it had to go all the way to 300 or higher to check my pressure, it almost always failed and came up with a different failure code each time, I had two test in a row that did not fail and the first said I was at 214 over 115 and I tested again same arm and got 92 over 50. That was just a minute or two apart. I found my old tester and it said I was at 130 over 85 which is about where I normally run. Short over it is the device does not work as described and fails to give accurate results. I have been using these devices for more than a decade, it was not user error.

I've had a blood pressure cuff on my list of things to buy for years; this was a great choice. ***The directions to set it up and use it are simple and well-written; nice that it comes with a set of batteries. ***The display is large. The readout of time, date, systolic, diastolic, and pulse rate are extremely easy to read and backlit with a soft light blue, which is easy on the eyes. ***You can log 100 of your most recent readings, for 2 different family members. ***The cuff tightness indicator gives some peace of mind about getting an accurate reading. The voice/talking function (which can be turned off as neede) is useful, so you can stay relaxed while a reading is being taken. ***The cuff is big enough for a bigger guy like me, and fits smaller upper arms as well. Two drawbacks: [1] The hose connecting the cuff to the unit is a bit too short. When the unit is sitting on a table, and you are aligning the tube down the center of your arm, the unit lifts up a bit due to the short tube. [2] The storage pouch is nice to have to keep everything together, but it is very thin, and not meant to provide protection like a hard case would. It is very cheap, and doesn't reflect the quality of the unit stored in it.

The Beurer talking upper body blood pressure monitor, on paper, seems great. It's well-built and has a nice, large backlit screen that is easy to read. It reads out results for blood pressure and pule--good for those with hearing difficulties--after it's done. It also puts these in context of health guidelines for hypertension. However, it's frustrating to use until you get the hang of it. Once you do, it's definitely better, but it's not very fast, and it REALLY squeezes your arm to the point that some may find it painful. Getting the cuff positioned right takes a bit of effort to be precise, and you will get error code 2 if you move/talk in the slightest, in which case you spent a minute getting your arm squeezed for no good reason. All in all, it's got nice features for everything you'd probably want in a blood pressure monitor, but the actual usage detracts from this. The cuff is a little too hard to place, it goes just a bit too slow and is very sensitive to motion, and it squeezes harder than any cuff I've ever used. A pity because the other features work well and are desirable to have for many people.

My wife assisted me with the use of this new monitor since she works in the medical field. Pros: lite weight and compact, Large screen, Voice screen read back, Extremely easy to use even for the novice users. Cons: the pressure kept increasing higher than what I have been used to. Can be a bit uncomfortable.(reason for 4 stars instead of 5). Overall it works just like any other blood pressure monitor. I really liked the larger screen with larger font as well as the voice screen reader. It makes it easy to understand. I would recommend this product.

    Great Choice for BP Monitoring

I have had a compact BP monitor for years, and I was looking for something more up to date. The Beurer BM50 fills the bill. Within moments after extremely easy assembly, the monitor is ready to go. Anxious to see how comfortable to use and accurate it would be, I checked it first while sitting quietly. The reading was spot on for my resting normal range of pulse rate and systolic and diastolic pressures. Evaluating it after various activities, it produced accurate results. The best feature of the Beurer is that it works well. That said, it has other very likeable features: * The cuff is comfortable and easy to put on and to remove. * There is a large, easy-to-read lighted monitor, which clearly displays the systolic, diastolic, pulse measurements, and should it occur, irregular heartbeat. The display also shows date and time (set up instructions in manual) of the measurement, which can then be loaded into memory. There is memory space for two people with 100 entries each. Next to the display, there are color indicators as to various levels of risk that accompany your numerical readings. * The Beurer has a talking function that lets you know when the device is ready (promptly after turning on), as well as, speaking your measurements when completed. This would be immensely helpful to someone with vision impairment. * If you forget to turn off the monitor, no worries, it will turn itself off. * The monitor comes with a nicely detailed manual, a rarity these days across all lines of products Overall, I am very well pleased with the Beurer BM50 and consider it an excellent buy.

Set up was simple, mainly setting the time and date and plugging in the cuff. Display was big and bright. The voice was interesting and seemed like an overkill but it was actually helpful. The device seems more sensitive than others I have used as the 1st three reading made me think I needed to rush to the doctor, and included a few errors. After adjusting the cuff and sitting as quiet as I could, it seemed to finally work. It seemed accurate. I do wish the memory and clock backed up when the batteries were removed, so be careful as all results are lost whenever batteries are changed. I do like the 'warnings' and indicators about the cuff being properly positioned. All in all an improvement over my similar device which is about 4 years old.

I’d like to give this more stars because it’s a nice monitor but it has a few too many issues to give it any more stars. It was easy to set up & easy to read & interpret & also pretty accurate pulse & blood pressure wise when it actually works. I have a very small arm & most of the time was getting an error then it would lower the pressure & keep pumping it back up, it did this 3 times in a row, by that point my arm was numb & it was quite painful. My husband tried it & he got an error reading too. It’s almost impossible to put this on yourself, it kept slipping & the tube has to be in line with the center of palm. For me the talking feature is unnecessary & storage bag is a bit flimsy & small.

    Good concept, failed execution

Part of staying healthy is knowing your stats and how your daily activities change them. For that reason, I’d picked up this blood pressure monitor. Not only does it display your current blood pressure, but it also tracks your and your partner’s history so you can spot trends. This will also tell you where your blood pressure falls relative to standards set by the WHO. On this model, readings are stored In the unit and averaged when you hit the memory button. Accuracy is one of the key attributes of any medical device. Unfortunately, this blood pressure monitor does not subscribe to that worldview. Over the course of several days, I used it in the morning and in the evening. The readings I got were all over the place. Sometimes they’d be in the range that I’ve been at my last doctor’s appointment. Sometimes significantly lower. Often I’d get an error that the cuff was too loose or too tight, even though I’d followed the instructions. It was similarly inconsistent between my left arm and right arm. The instructions note it should be used on your left arm, which is mostly what I did. Moving to my right arm, my blood pressure was measured significantly lower than my left arm, despite having the air line positioned out front on each arm. If the above wasn’t enough, the machine often tightens the cuff to nearly unbearable levels when trying to get a reading. It was tight to the point where it remained painful on my arm for a few minutes after taking the cuff off. While this monitor has a clever concept to provide talking and context to your readings, the lack of consistency in the readings is a deal killer.

The Beurer - Talking Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor is easy enough to get set up -- it kind of reminds me of getting a basic alarm clock set up with date, time, language and volume levels easily set. This device will definitely allow you to establish a baseline for what your blood pressure actually is. Using the Quick Start guide will help you figure out the best time to begin measurements. The monitor will store results for up to two profiles and has a large display for showing key numbers. Four AA batteries come with the device, so you can get to measuring right out of the box. Especially for those who need to keep tabs on this aspect of their health, I highly recommend getting this monitor.
