This thing works great and my family and I could tell an immediate difference in air quality. The dimming lights when it’s dark is really nice as well.

The Air 220 is a medium sized air purifier from Bissell that incorporates a sleek modern design, multiple filter elements, and a VOC sensor with visual feedback. It’s designed to clean a 800 sq ft area. It’s a feature packed machine that brings an elegant blend of technology to air quality. Does it live up to its promises? Be aware, this is no tower air purifier. This is a large rectangular box with rounded corners. It is about as tall and wide as your average side table. The design is all dark grays and blacks keeping a very Batcave aesthetic. But seriously, this is a very dark modern design. Bissell does have a air 320 model that might be more akin to those with less modern designs. Still the air 220 will fit in many modern living rooms. It has 4 stout little feet that lift it several inches off the ground. The front is a grid of circles for air vents. On top is a dial with a button that turns the filter on and off. The dial adjusts the fan speed. Breaking apart the dark colors is a small LED display and multicolored LED. The display essentially displays the fan speed or the letter A. The first setting is the A which stands for automatic. This is the pretty awesome setting, as it uses the volatile organic compounds (VOC) sensor to increase or decrease the fan speed according to the amount of these compounds. Bissell calls this their cirQulate system (get it, circulate, but with a Q indicating ‘quality’... gotta love marketing). What constitutes a ‘volatile’ organic compound can be many things, but Bissell will sell you on the common pet odors, and ‘home’ odors. Let’s just say that it can be an early warning system for certain bodily functions. My wife now will stare at me when the light turns yellow indicating a higher presence of VOCs - which I promptly blame on our cat. If it turns red… well… yeah. If you’re considering using this in a bedroom, you’ll be happy to learn that the VOC sensor light and mode/fan indicator display both turn off when the amount of ambient light is below a threshold. While we use this in our family living space, at night turning off the lights will prompt the filter to turn off its glowing indicators as well. Another nice design consideration is built in cable management for the power cord, which is a great way to clean up the excess cord. The power cord thus is a bit longer allowing you to plug the filter into that power plug behind the couch and still have room to position it where you want it. Inside, there are 2 separate filter elements. While there are technically 3, there is a fabric filter attached to the main filter element. Behind this is an activated charcoal filter. The charcoal filter is especially interesting, as it’s a honey comb structure filled with bits of activated charcoal. Charcoal is a high absorber of, well, pretty much anything, so it works well to filter odors. When these filters need replacing, the display will let you know by showing F1 or F2 (or both). Obviously I haven’t seen this yet, but you’ll find these details in the manual. Now, does it clean the air? Yes, definitely. While we replaced an existing high efficiency air cleaner, this is quite more effective. My wife has allergies that affect her year round, and it seems like this filter makes a difference for her over the past couple weeks. I personally love the automatic mode, even if it tells on me. Since our living space is near the kitchen, it definitely helps when the oven vent can’t keep up. The design is excellent, operation is quiet, and the sensors - both ambient light and VOC - operate in a way that enhances the product. It’s no small investment, but considering the cost of your typical air filter, you get quite a bit here. Bissell has a winner in my book! I may even buy another one for our bedroom!

This has been saving us during these past few weeks with poor air quality. I like that it shows you the quality of the air in your space and that the light turns off in the dark.

Definitely cleans the air...no more particles floating in the air...my breathing has improved significantly...would definitely recommend this machine...well made...

This air purifier is great. Such quiet operation that you don't even know it's running. It gives you a digital display indicating the quality of air in the room.

I like the look of this purifier and it seems to be cleaning the air. My only negative thought is that the front filter is the grey screen on the front so it is visible if larger clumps of hair on it but, just needs to be vacuumed or blown off.

Quiet most of the time although when turned up it can get louder. Seems to work quite well but haven't had to check filter yet to see how it's doing.

Great design, not your typical air purifier. Works great and notifies you when the filter needs to be changed and when the air quality is poor

Living with an elderly parent that seems to be developing many more allergies I needed to get an air purifier to help with pollen and also with other issues such as humidity. Noticed a difference right away! It covers a very large area is not loud, is very easy to use and has been a Godsent forn my Mom. Also the form factor is just right, it is large but not crazy large. We use it mostly at night time or when the A/C is off and windows are open.

This is a good air purifier. It's very quite and does what it does well enough that we can run it on lower settings.

I really do think this product works! I have 3 dogs and this is perfect.

Can feel the air cleaner and freer when running. Monitors the air and picks up bad air quality quickly. Good running unit.

Work jood as is it advertice. Did not want to spent alot od money for dyson. We bought this instead
