Big and heavy machine for big and heavy cleaning.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Carpet cleaners (or “shampooers” as some call them) come from small hand-held units for quick pet accident cleaning, to vacuum sized machines for many uses, and also larger commercial type units. The Bissell Big Green Pet Plus is one of the larger and more powerful units you can get via retail. This model has larger tanks to hold both clean water and the dirty water that it pulls up out of the carpet, as well as a larger beater brush to dig down and get more out. Even if you have cleaned your carpets recently, you might be shocked what this machine pulls out of them. The Big Green Pet Plus comes pretty much fully assembled. Being a big machine compared to many other consumer carpet cleaners, it might not hurt to have someone to help get it out of the box as it is heavy, but it’s doable alone (tip the box over). Mine came with a hose and attachment for cleaning stairs and furniture as well as a spot head for use on the hose for small areas (pet messes, etc). Once you extend the handle and clear out the packing materials, it's pretty much ready to use. It looks very much like some commercial machines you can rent. No hoses are needed for basic cleaning, as the clean and dirty water are held in their own tanks. The cord is long, so you’ll be able to cover a fair amount of space. TIP: Vacuum your carpet THOROUGHLY before you use the Pet Plus to shampoo it. This will remove any stray dirt and other particles and help keep the machine running at peak. It’s not hard to use. Just put in your hot tap water in the clean water tank (bottom tank), add a cap or two of cleaning solution, put the water return area on top, snap in place, press a handle release button on the back, turn it on, and then begin. (Note – this particular model does not have an extra heating element, so your hot tap water will be the hottest you can use – it advises against heating it up further before putting it in the machine). The Pet Plus allows you to spray the water/solution with a button, and then releasing it, allows you to vacuum it back up into the dirty water tank. Yeah, the water is definitely going to be at least some shade of brown. Pushing and pulling the machine, due to the size, won’t be for everyone, and it may be hard to get into tight areas. You press a button on the handle to control the water and cleaning spray - it sprays and pulls in both directions if desired. It's been about 3 months since my last carpet cleaning. Lately I’ve been babysitting pets for many people I know due to Covid, work, and vacations, so there have been animals in the house pretty much all the time for a while. A visit from a sibling with kids has added to the dirt since the last cleaning as well. Still, 3 months in I wasn’t expecting the carpet to be THAT dirty – it was. Water shows it… ugh. Once done, pull the dirty water tank off and dump it (I do outside), repeat if needed. No issues – water tanks held up for a good amount of cleaning before needing to be refilled or emptied, and the machine moved freely enough for me to do most areas except tighter corners. The spot head attachment worked well on an older stain on a chair, and the attached cup contained the mess for easier cleanup. The Bissell cleaning solution (there are many versions to choose from) also seemed to work well, and left the house with a clean smell. The Pet Plus pulled the water up thoroughly enough that drying time wasn’t that long either – a couple of hours (or less) with a fan running, and certainly reasonable. Opinion: If you have a small apartment, larger two-story home, or small house, the Pet Plus is probably overkill for you. Repeating again, it’s HEAVY, and may be overwhelming for people doing two levels, or not needed for smaller places. I feel it’s best meant for people with larger single-level homes with a decent to large amount of carpet and/or rugs, or even people who own rental properties they clean themselves in-between tenants, and need something that cleans on a near-commercial level. For those with tinier spaces though, again, there are quite a few other Bissell carpet machines in varied sizes to accommodate pretty much most people, I would think. Bissell donates some of their profits to animal rescue groups which I love, and on this machine, they also give a 5 year warranty. I recommend the Big Green Pet Plus to anyone who needs a machine of a higher level/work load than you get from the more normal-sized shampoo machines – you pay a little more but you get a lot more for the money with this one. Recommended, for those who need this.

Awesome carpet cleaner if you have pets
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this for my father since his home still has carpet. After years of use and stains from everyday life as well as a Cocker Spaniel, the carpet deserved some attention. What's in the Box Bissell Big Green Pet Plus Vac Hose attachment Powered hand attachment Use The vac was easy to use, one container for your water/soap solution and another for the dirty water. Pretty much just hold the trigger and off you go. To use the hose attachment. It easily hooks up to the tanks. I later use this ffor my car's carpet as well with the hand held attachment. Results Though I forgot to take before pics, my parent's carpet looked great even after all the 10 years of use and stains. Of course we couldn't get every stain out but most of the stains were able to be extracted especially Mayble's pee stains (she pees when she's excited). Summary My parents carpet were cleaner then we've seen them in years. Parents were happy with how the carpets tuned out. I would highly suggest anyone with older dingy carpet or people with pets and carpet get this the Bissell Big Green.

Outstanding carpet cleaner
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First impression: My first impression of the Bissell Big Green Pet Plus carpet cleaner is that it is a very well-made carpet cleaner. It is heavy and made of very strong plastics. The handle is firm and doesn’t slip, yet it easily folds up when the levers and activated. The two water tanks are made of strong, durable plastics, and the handles are very strong. The attachments are also made of high-quality plastics and work very well on the stairs. The unit comes with a 9’ hose for the attachments. The hose is easy to move around and is made with durable plastics. I expect this cleaner to last a long time. Setup: Setup of the cleaner is very simple. It comes already assembled, so all there is to do is prepare it to use. The cleaner has stickers all over it explaining what each part does. And the instructions are very clear, and extremely easy to follow. Within minutes you are ready to start cleaning carpets. Performance: The performance of this cleaner is as good as the cleaners the professional cleaners bring to our home. Our cat has been sick lately. As he is being treated, he gets sick after eating. We have tried numerous spray cleaners, but none of them worked as promised. After making a few passes across the carpet, all remnants from the cat, coffee spills, and all other stains were gone. Our upstairs carpet is beige and has gotten stained from the bathroom renovation. We were getting ready to pay the carpet cleaner again to come clean it. When I got the chance to get this unit, I decided to try it, hoping it would do good enough so we can stop paying carpet cleaning companies to come out and clean the carpets. This cleaner does not do good enough, it does as good as some cleaners, and better than some others. I cannot begin to explain how happy I am with the Bissell Big Green Pet Plus carpet cleaner. It’s one thing for something to work as expected, and a surprise when it even works better. But it’s a gift when it also saves you money because we will no longer need to pay carpet cleaners top come clean our carpets. One more thing. I keep talking about the durability and high-quality plastics. Besides having worked with plastics in production, we accidentally knocked the cleaner over at the edge of the stairway, and the cleaner tumbled down 15 stairs and hit the wall (picture included). Beside the wall, there was not a single scratch on the cleaner. The handle didn’t budge, and the tanks never left the cleaner. I can’t think of a better test for the durability of a carpet cleaner, although I wouldn’t recommend trying it. Conclusion: If you are looking for a high-quality, very good professional level carpet cleaner, then you need to look at the Bissell Big Green Pet Plus carpet cleaner. It is very well made and does an excellent job of cleaning our carpets, removing every single stain with standard passes. I highly recommend the Bissell Big Green Plus carpet cleaner.

Blown away, "and have clean carpet"
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We’ve been using Hoover carpet cleaners for years “and years”, the last one we purchased was a what we thought a very good cleaner, but the house we purchased 3 years ago, the previous owners had a couple dogs and the carpet “though they had it cleaned after selling” was still dirty. I had thought about just replacing the carpet but decided to try to clean it, I’ve gone over the whole house 4 times in those three years and the dirt always came out black with the hoover but after drying there had always been a dingy sort of light gray look to it. Then I saw this new Bissell Big Green Pet Plus Professional cleaner and wanted to give it a try. Unboxing and first thoughts: The cleaner came in a large Bissell logoed box and was well protected, “it was heavy too”. Inside was the cleaner, instructions upholstery cleaning hose/ nozzle and that’s it. No real assembly required at all, almost ready to go out of the box. After removing the dirty water tank we found a big bottle of solution and another nozzle attachment for the hose called a “Stain Trapper” inside it. The Big Green machine is named right, it’s big and heavy, and like the ones you would rent at a local big box store. The weight surprised me, it’s easily double the weight of the Hoover and it’s built like a tank. You could probably drop this down a flight of stairs and wouldn’t receive any damage. The clean and dirty water tanks are very heavy duty plastic, nothing like the tanks on the other’s we’ve use and feel like they could take a beating and should last for many years to come. Using: Now if you’ve ever rented a unit then you’ll be pretty familiar with this one, but it’s the same as most. Fill the bottom clean water container with hot water, add two capfuls of solution to it and return to the unit. It’s installed on the bottom so the dirty water tank is the first to be taken off when emptying it. Both tanks hold a lot of water and the dirty water tank never filled to the point of tripping the full valve, even after completely emptying the clean water tank. Now this is the part where the weight is very noticeable, and you are going to get a work out using it. There’s a button on the top in the middle of the grab handle and just press to dispense the clean water/soap solution on the carpet, release to work on sucking up the dirty water. This Big Green Machine really sucks the water up, it removed almost as much water as it sprayed out, and only left the carpet a little damp “this also made the carpet dry out so much faster than the hoovers we had”. I noticed due to the weight, which is actually a plus for cleaning, it keeps the suction nozzle down against the carpet creating a better seal so it can remove as much dirty water as possible, this also forces you to work slowly instead of rushing with the lighter units. After my first tank full it was time to empty. I had started in our bedroom as it was probably the cleanest, as the last time I used the Hoover the water came out just slightly dirty, “didn’t look bad at all”. But when I went to empty this one I was amazed that the dirty water was as dark as chocolate milk “gross, really gross”, and I had cleaned that room with the Hoover just a month ago, “same with the rest of the house". So we went to work on the living room, hall, spare bedroom and our office. Every one of them came out the same “most worse” than the bedroom, “really dark dirty water”, we were both completely floored by this as we thought the hoover had gotten the carpet clean “wrong”. The carpet itself finally looks clean; the grey dingy look is completely gone and after drying just feels cleaner under foot “hard to explain that one”. We also tried the upholstery tool on an old office chair H have that really needed it. The hose is very simple to attach and the brush of the tool is wider and has a bigger brush than the one that came with the Hoover. It pretty much works the same as all the others when using, but the higher suction of the Bissell was pretty noticeable and pulled the dirt right out of the upholstery. There’s also a “Stain Trapper” tool, which I just tried to see how it worked, but if you have a small mess “like pet pee, or vomit”, and don’t want to have to clean a whole machine after using, this is really a neat attachment. It attaches to the upholstery hose like any other nozzle but there’s a small clear container on the bottom of it. While cleaning up the mess it separates the dirty water from the air being sucked in and traps it in the container so all you have to do is clean out the small container and nozzle, none of the dirt is actually pulled up through the hose and into the dirty water tank. This is a brilliant idea as there’s been a few times I’ve had to clean up a dog mess and ended up cleaning the whole machine because of this, kudos to Bissell for developing this attachment. Cleaning up the machine was simple, easier than the Hoover, there are no brushes to remove, and the tanks are very easy to clean out with large opening for draining and cleaning “this really is a professional device”. I just set the whole unit in the bath tub, turn it sideways and laid it across the side, using the shower head on the hose I just washed off the bottom and done. It takes way longer to clean out the hoover, at least twice as long. Conclusion: If you have dirty carpet and want your carpet as clean as possible “without having to clean them multiple times” then this is going to be the carpet cleaner you want. Yes it a lot heavier than the Hoover, but it’s built like it too, and it seems like it’s built to last. Everything about it is very heavily constructed; even the power cord is a lot heavier than any of the other ones I’ve used, “like a very heavy duty extension cord heavy”. The carpet dried out about twice as fast if I used the hoover which means it did a lot better job of extracting the dirty water from the carpet. With the included upholstery attachment this makes the Bissell a very versatile machine and every bit as good as anything you would rent from a BB store. The price is higher than the simple cleaners I’ve had and it shows, build quality and performance speak for them selves.

Buy it, you wont regret it!
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works extremely well but if done "properly" cleaning your carpets, at least the first time, is going to be very time consuming. I suggest always using the machine with a full tank as the extra weight helps push the brissle roller into the carpet and allows for better extraction of the shampoo frol the carpet, though not required. At a minimum, I clean my carpets twice per session. If my first passes are north to south, I follow up with East to west. The carpet cleaner works best when the cleaner has been allowed to sit and soak for a while. Sometimes, I push the machine around applying the solution but do not do the suction passes to suck up the cleaner, other times I use a bottle or pumo sprayer to spray the carpets to allow them to soak. Always use warm / hot water! It works so much better. However, I believe I read a customer review which stated the maximum temperature can not exceed 140 degrees Fahrenheit or the seals will leak. I am considering modifying my machine to allow me to turn the brush head on, without the vaccum turning on. Not sure if it can be done as I am not sure how the solution is pumped, but it would be nice to be able to just push the machine around and let the brissles push the cleaner inti the carpet fibers, without the machine trying to suck the cleaner up at the same time. Also, it would be nice if the wheels were casters and the machine could be turned without lifting the front end. Overall, the machine is amazing!

The Bissell Big Green Pet Plus Is The Real Deal
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I already have a cheap carpet cleaner that I purchased years back when my kid was little and spilled a bunch of stuff all over my carpet. It did a decent enough job at the time, but since then I’ve acquired 2 dogs and a bird, so I decided it was time for an upgrade. When presented with the chance to test this Bissell Green Pet Plus, I just couldn’t say no. The reviews of these types of Bissell carpet cleaners are always very good and I’ve been eying one anyway, why not give it a try, right? The packaging of the unit is very nice and much smaller than I expected as the unit is pretty large, but the foldable handle makes it so that it can be tucked away nicely into the shipping box or in a closet. Unpacking the unit is fairly easy, other than it being a little bit heavy. There is almost no assembly required and I was up and running in about 10 minutes. There are 2 separate tanks for both the clean water/shampoo mixture and the dirty water. The tanks are much larger than my older carpet cleaner tanks were, so that’s a plus. I was able to clean the entire office without refilling the tank and probably could have done another room as well with the water that was left. This unit has a very powerful brush roller that lifts up embedded dirt, hair and everything else you can think of. This means the unit really does a great job with just about anything you throw at it. Pet stains, ground in dirt and just the general nastiness that accumulates in a carpet over time, even with regular vacuuming. I have a very nice vacuum and tend to vacuum the entire house twice a week, but was still surprised at how dirty the water was when I was done using it. This unit is heavy and large, but the added weight and size is worth it based on the results I’m seeing. It’s hard to capture in photos, but as you can see in the dirty water photo exemplifies exactly what’s going to come out of your carpet when you use this unit. I do have a few tips and tricks for using this carpet cleaner in order to optimise your results though. Using the supplied hand tools was an easy experience. Just hook the tools up and get at it. I used both the regular hand tool and the stain trapper tool. They seem to work pretty similarly, except that the stain trapper has a clear tank on the tool itself so you can check out the gunk you’re picking up. I like to use the hand tools to aggressively hit trouble spots that don’t come up with a regular back and forth pass. I suggest using half of the recommended amount of carpet cleaning solution and pre-treating more soiled areas. You need to vacuum the area you’re cleaning very well before using this product with a good quality vacuum as this will make a huge difference in your final results. I also suggest using hot water in the clean water tank as that helps with the cleaning and breaking up of dirt and debris. Always do a full back and forth pass while holding the spray button and then follow with another full dry pass. The most important part of the whole process is to do another complete pass with just clean water and no carpet cleaning solution in the unit. This will help prevent dirt from clinging onto any remnants of the carpet cleaning solution. Overall, I’m very impressed with the Bissell Big Green Pet Plus Carpet cleaner and would definitely recommend this unit for anyone that has pets, kids or both. Other carpet cleaners will work fine for the occasional clean up and other light duty jobs, but this carpet cleaner is the real deal and will provide you with clean carpets for a very long time.

Better than most
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Look i have bought 3 or 4 different carpet cleaners that were in the 150 -200 dollar range. They worked ok some btter than other. What i woll say is this one seems to be better in a couple ways. It picks up almost all the water it puts out, and it us easy to clean. On thing that makes this one hard to use is it is 40ish pounds. All in all i would recommend this to anyone that needs a good carpet shampooer.

Incredibly effective
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very strong and effective at pulling up dirt other carpet cleaners leave behind. Having children and pets, it’s often used and does an incredible job each time. Only gripe is the lack of heating so if you have minor spots to treat, the leftover tank solution will get cold. So there’s some “plan accordingly” in order to use just enough, or to leave enough room to add hot water later.

Excellent Results
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was thrilled with the results. I only went over the carpet one time and the floor was more clean than our previous carpet shampooer going over the floor three times. We are a family of eight plus two dogs. The shampooer removed spots that I was sure were set in stains. The shampooer is a bit heavy, but that was not a deal breaker. Worth the money. Cleaned better than industrial rentals.

||Posted . Better than professional carpet cleaning company. I enjoy having the machine because I can do a room at a time but once you get going you want to keep going bc it’s fun, addictive and not strenuous.
