I highly recommend the Big Green to anyone looking for a carpet/rug cleaner. Having rented rug doctors in the past, I noticed quickly how superior the Big Green is. My rugs and bed were absolutely disgusting, and now they are like new. Very well made and durable, highly recommended!

The Bissell Big Green Pet Plus is a solid, powerful, and versatile shampooer/extractor. This shampooer/extractor feels like quite an upgrade to my previous, cheaper Bissell unit. Compared to that, this unit has much sturdier construction, is larger, heavier, and has much larger solution and waste capacities. It also has much better suction which removes much more of the cleaning solution, pulls up more of the nastiness in the carpet, and results in much faster drying time. The older unit would leave behind many clumps of cat fur and carpet fibers that would then have to be cleaned up with a full vacuum cleaning job, where-as this unit only left one or two small clumps (and I always perform a full vacuum job prior to extraction in any event). Thanks to the increased capacities, I didn’t have to stop as frequently to empty and refill. It didn’t over-spray the solution into adjacent uncarpeted rooms like the older unit did. While the older unit would leak after use, I haven’t experienced any leaks with this unit. The hose and stair tool attachment helped not just with stairs, but with spot cleaning and getting better extraction along wall baseboards. While the cleaning power was good, it wasn’t a miracle fix-all, though I didn’t expect it to be. Older cat urine spots didn’t have their odor eliminated by repeated passes from this unit. A one to two week old spot of spilled red sports drink, which wasn’t handled particularly well by spraying (with a different carpet cleaning product) and scrubbing by hand, was greatly reduced after several passes with this unit, but it was still barely visible. I exclusively used the included Bissell PET PRO OXY Urine Eliminator formula while testing this unit. Both power cord and hose lengths seemed adequate, with the hose comfortably reaching all steps in a half flight of stairs without requiring unit repositioning. While I was pleased by this unit’s performance, there are some cons worth mentioning. The fill cap of the clean water tank, which is used to measure cleaning formula, is very oddly attached to the tank by a stiff tube which makes dumping the formula in somewhat awkward. The power toggle is somewhat inconveniently placed; I would prefer it to be at the top of the arm, just beneath the handle. There’s no place to wrap the extension hose or to place the extension tools, though it seems they could have worked such mounting points into the design. One of the included hose extension tools has a clear collection cup but no spray trigger, which left me unsure of just how I would effectively make use of it.

A little heavy but works great. Bought mine a few years back from Beat Buy. Better than the rentals as you don't bring other peoples germs into your home. Folding handle makes for easy storage.

I have kids who still enjoy playing outside and doing crafts. So there's been stains I've used spot cleaners on with no luck. This carpet cleaner cleaned those stains without pretreatment. Left the carpet dry enough to still walk on. So it was easy to use with my kids still home.

Best to pay for the best instead of the lesser garbage that breaks and has no weight to be able to suck up the water.

Made to last a little heavy. cleans like a champ and doesn't leave the carpet wet.
